“Okay,” Max whispered before walking up to the professor. “Sorry, Professor Spencer, we were helping some first years find their classes.”
Professor Spencer studied them for a moment disapprovingly before rolling his eyes. “I believe you, but if you’re late again you will both serve detention.”
Max grinned at Romilly and walked inside.
Romilly grinned back to him, sticking close behind him. She stayed quiet and avoided eye contact with the professor as she walked inside. She found two seats and sank down in one of them, “We did it,” she whispered under her breath to herself.
Max slid into the seat next to her. “I knew he’d let us go,” he stated, though he hadn’t been 100% sure earlier.
Romilly nodded and leaned over to whisper in return, “You said he likes you. That helps,” she grinned.
He nodded. “True,” Max replied. “What do you think of the incoming first years so far?”
“They seem good,” she admitted, “I really like the one who gave me acorns,” she giggled. Given her background, Romilly wasn’t particularly sociable with a lot of people, and preferred to be close to those who were especially nice to her. She never forgot who was nice to her, and she would make it a goal to return the kind gesture.
“Yeah they were cool,” he agreed. “Wanna sneak out and do something fun tonight? That shake place from last year is still open.”
Gavriel had moved from the table and headed for his next class a few minutes after the group from the table left. He knew that he was going to be late, but he didn't really care about first impressions. When he arrived at his class he saw a few familiar faces and a couple more new ones. He chose a seat away from the board and pulled his hoodie up, covering his face.
Romilly readily agreed with Max, her whisper raising up a few notches with the excitement “Yes!! That place has good food. I like that place. Will the girl with the acorns come too?”
“Sure! We can invite all the ones who sat at our table, if that’s okay with you!” Max added.
Romilly thought for a moment, eventually deciding that it might be more fun to interact with more people. She nodded, “Yes, let’s invite them too.”
“Perfect,” Max agreed with a characteristic smile.
(wanna time skip?)
(Sure! To after classes when they all meet together again?)
Finally, the day’s classes were over and Max was ready to meet up with what he considered to be his new friends again. He was definitely a “the more, the merrier” type of guy.
Lexath was trying to find anyone they sat with earlier, they needed to apoligize to the girl they gave acorns to, just in case. Actually, they wouldn't say anything, just sign. Yeah! Lexath thought. Just sign!
“Lexath, hi!” Max called, noticing them. He beamed. He walked over. “I was wondering if you want to hang out with me and Romilly tonight at this awesome restaurant that has the best shakes!”
Romilly bounced up to Max after her last class, “Max!” She beamed, “Are we waiting here for the others?” She glanced to Lexath and smiled even wider, “Hello!”
“Yeah, that’s my plan,” Max replied with a smile. “I hope that they’ll want to come.”
Ava walked out of her classroom and walked around the school until she saw Max and Romilly. She walked up to them. (is this a boarding school?)
(yeah probably should have made that clear lol)
Max grinned. “Hey Ava!” he said. “Do you want to hang out with me and Romilly tonight? We’re getting shakes!”
Ava smiled ”Sure! But are we allowed to go out without like a teacher or something?” she asked tilting her head slightly.
Lexath smilled and waved, but remained as quiet as a dead mouse.
Ezra was so glad to get out of class finally. Whenever a group assignment had arisen, he always felt like dead weight. He shook his head at himself, releasing his astral into the air, who floated around over his shoulder happily.
Max noticed Ezra and called out to him, waving. “Hey Ezra!” he called with a grin, motioning him over. He turned to Ava, feeling a little guilty. “Technically no, but it’s pretty easy to sneak out. This town is really safe.”
