“Only about a five or ten minute walk,” replied Max. “It’s very close.”
“Only about a five or ten minute walk,” replied Max. “It’s very close.”
(is everyone there?)
(I’m here)
Romilly rocked on her heels, arms clasped behind her back. “No, not long at all,” she agreed with Max.
(im there)
(My character is there)
Max began to walk there, turning to glance at the others to make sure they followed. “This way!” he announced.
(whoever isn’t there can just add their character in and pretend they were there the whole time if they want)
Ezra followed behind, brushing his white hair out of his eyes. Maybe it would be fun, but Ezra couldn’t let himself get excited. After he told Max about his curse, the guy would stop inviting him to things and he’d never even get a chance to get to know the others.
Elizabeth hesitated before following. She couldn't believe she'd gotten herself into this mess, but she'd just have to ride it out.
“You guys are gonna love this place!” Max said as they walked. “The shakes are delicious and their burgers are actually really good too, if you’re feeling hungry. The wait time isn’t long and they play this awesome retro music there! It’s kinda cool! Although, it is a bit tacky, but it’s cool!”
Ava followed smiling. She played with her hands nervously as she walked.
Elizabeth nodded nervously, keeping her arms wrapped around herself. She briefly opened her mouth to say something, but thought better of it and continued walking.
Romilly stuck close to Max, walking alongside him with their arms near touching. She looked at her new group of friends contently. Maybe knowing more people this year wouldn’t be so bad.
Ezra wrung his hands. It felt too quiet. He wanted to talk with the others, but that always seemed to end up badly. It was easier with his foster father, but even then it was a risk… He looked around, hoping to see the place soon. The quicker he could tell Max about his deadly curse, the easier it would be to not make any friends. Less emotionally painful, at least.
Ava smiled and tried to keep close to the others. She walked along side Ezra. “So this is your first year too?” She asked. She decided making friends would be a good idea even if it was a little hard with her curse.
Ezra jumped a little, quickly snapping back to focus. “Uh, yeah. I was homeschooled.” He explained softly, biting his lip. Just say the bare minimum, a good rule of thumb, Ezra’s foster father’s words echoed in his head.
“That’s cool! I was homeschooled for the past year before my parents found this place,” she explained. “Do you like it here so far?”
“I guess,” Ezra mumbled, biting his lip. It would be a lot better if I felt it was safe enough to actually get to know people… “It’s a lot… bigger. More people.” He added quietly.
“Yah my old school had a little more people than this but when I was homeschooled it was just me. My brother still got to go to normal school,” She explains. “Do you have any siblings?”
“I have a foster sister, but she’s already out of the house,” Ezra explained quietly, chewing on his lip again. He barely knew Hannah, they were never very close. Despite what Ezra’s foster father said, Ezra still believed it was because she was afraid of his curse.
Ava nodded “Did you even go to normal school?” She asked. She wasn’t really used to talking and making friends with people so asking 21 questions was making friends in her eyes.
Lexath snuck up behind them, signing quickly. The one's that were slow enough to make out were: "Lost." "Sorry for late."
Gavriel heard the other people in the group talking while the gears were working in his head. He was wondering about how he could convert his food into shadows and consume it without freaking anyone else. It was bad enough that his personality would change in the morning but having to not be able to explain to them that he couldn't help his attitude. He started thinking the whole thing over again and wondered if he should have even come.
Ava nodded “Did you even go to normal school?” She asked. She wasn’t really used to talking and making friends with people so asking 21 questions was making friends in her eyes.
Ezra shook his head, “Not after I got cursed.” He stared at the ground. He could hardly remember much of normal school, he had been so young. It would always be better that way—to stay away from people. It felt like every time he talked to someone he risked their life, even if his curse wasn’t that severe.
“I went to school for a year after being curse but that didn’t go well,” she explains her smile turning nervous.
Ezra wrung his hands, unsure of what to say. The right thing to do seemed to be to ask her about her curse, but then she might ask him about his curse… It never seemed to go well when he talked about his curse, so instead he said, “I was hoping this school would be easier. Has it been any better?”
