The waiter nodded, and left.
Aster and Quinn kept eating.
The waiter nodded, and left.
Aster and Quinn kept eating.
Charlotte sighed and tapped her fork lightly on the table.
Quinn glanced up. He had spaghetti sauce on the sides of his mouth, and he wiped his face with a napkin. "Something wrong?" he asked.
"No, just bored," Charlotte said lightly, resting her chin on a hand.
Quinn nodded. "Ah." he kept eating.
Aster grinned, and finished his first bowl. A few minutes later, a second was brought over for him.
"Quinn, you're behind. Come on, are you really even trying?" Charlotte teased.
Quinn rolled his eyes. "It isn't about speed, it's about pace." he replied. "If I eat slower, my stomach has more time to digest the older stuff and make more room. If I eat as fast as Aster is, my stomach will simply get stuffed and bloated."
Aster wrinkled his nose. "I heard that." he told Quinn.
Charlotte nodded thoughtfully. "I don't think he was intending for you not to hear it. Maybe that story with the tortoise and the hare was right," she mused.
Aster rolled his eyes. "One, I know that, I'm just offended. Two, I don't know what the story with the tortoise and the hare is." he said, then started eating again.
Quinn shook his head, and finished his first bowl soon after. A second was brought to him, and he waited a few minutes before he started to eat it.
"You aren't supposed to stop, though. That's not how eating contests function," she informed Wuinn before turning to Aster. "You know, the tortoise and the hare have a race, the hare thinks he's special because he's fast and just to brag, decides to take a nap and wait for the tortoise, but the tortoise ends up winning? That whole theme about 'a steady pace wins the race?'"
"I didn't stop." Quinn replied, wrinkling his nose at her, then continued eating.
Aster listened, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Hm. Never heard it before." he replied. "But it sounds kind of boring. Slow is boring." he gave Quinn a pointed look.
"You literally act like a parent whenever we do anything remotely interesting; you've no room to talk," Charlotte answered.
Aster sighed loudly. "That's because if I don't act like the parent, no one will." he replied, sticking his tongue out at her.
Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Maybe we don't need a parent, smart one."
Aster raised an eyebrow. "Mmm…I doubt it." He replied.
"You are so annoying all the time, did you know?" Charlotte answered exasperatedly.
Aster winked. "I know." He started eating again.
Charlotte sighed. "Are you ever going to stop eating?"
He raised an eyebrow as he finished his second bowl. "It's an eating contest, of course not! Unless you're saying you'd rather kiss Quinn?" He smirked slightly. A third bowl was brought and he started eating it.
"I'm saying I'm bored, and the sooner you finish, the sooner we can leave," Charlotte corrected wryly.
Aster smirked, and winked. "Alright then." He replied with a grin.
Charlotte rolled her eyes. "You are SUCH an idiot."
Aster winked again. "Definitely." He replied with a laugh.
Charlotte sighed and tapped her fork against the table.
Aster kept eating.
Quinn finished his second, and the third was brought to him.
