"Where are we?" Charlotte murmured, lolking around.
"Where are we?" Charlotte murmured, lolking around.
"Deep in the depths of the castle." He opened a door and led her out into a set of beautiful gardens, with a small lake in the middle. "Just kidding."
Charlotte gasped, putting her hands over her mouth. "That's… incredible," she breathed.
He smiled. "Mhm." He agreed, looking out at the view.
Charlotte smiled turning around to look at everything. "Alright, this is the singular interesting thing in this place."
He snorted softly. "There's a lot of interesting things here." He replied. "But they don't all make sense, so I probably shouldn't show you them." He said in a teasing tone.
Charlotte stuck her tongue out childishly. "You're probably right," she sighed.
He chuckled softly. "Yes." He said simply.
Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Well, are we just going to stand here?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. Are we?" He looked at her with a slight smile.
Charlotte crossed her arms. "Well, I don't see anything else to do."
He smiled, and started walking down to the lakeside.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes but followed.
He walked down to the lakes edge, and picked up a pebble, tossing it in.
Charlotte sighed, sitting down near the edge of the lake and resting her chin on her hands.
"You're going to get your dress dirty." Aster said, crouching by her.
"It's black, dimwit," Charlotte said, rolling her eyes. "And anyway, it's not as if I care."
"Black still shows dust." He retorted. "And I am not a dimwit." He skipped a stone on the water, watching as it bounced three times, then plopped into the water and sank.
"Sorry," she muttered. "I'm used to talking to Quinn."
Aster's eyes flickered slightly. "Ah. Yes, the king can be…quite the handful. I don't blame him, it isn't entirely his fault that he turned out that way." He shrugged, skipping another stone.
Charlotte shrugged. "I suppose."
"His mother is a bitch." He said conversationally, as if he weren't insulting a former queen.
Charlotte have him a look before snorting. "Well, mine lived in a mental hospital most of my life and my father was a horrible person, and yet I still didn't turn out like him."
"He's been put under a lot more pressure to perform than you probably ever have been." Aster said evenly. "Also, this is Wonderland. We're all a little…messed up." He shrugged slightly.
"It would be wonderful if everyone that I ever talk to would stop telling me where I am," Charlotte said thinly, standing up and brushing her dress off before heading back towards the castle.
