Cassie noticed Piper's reaction.
"What? Why'd you put your head down?" she asked.
"I'm tired," she replied without looking up.

Kelton smiled a bit and waved at one of his friends when she waved at him.
The three of them spent the rest of lunch having a slow conversation, as there were many lulls. Piper was mostly concerned about dance class: they would be choosing their parts for the performance soon.
Kelton stayed quiet throughout most of the conversation, wondering about all the homework he had and the performance for his dance class.
After lunch, they each headed to their classes. There were two more classes left, then they got to dance. Nobody listened to the majority of what they heard in those two classes, since the whole school was buzzing about the performance. The word was that three students who showed the best technique in the show would get to compete.
Kelton had tried his best not to think of the performance but he failed, miserably, it was the only thing that was interesting that was happening so far. So of course, like an idiot, that was the only thing he thought of which lead him to Piper.
Piper had been thinking of that performance all day, so when the bell rang that ended sixth period, she was up and out the door. She was wading through the hallways, trying to get to her dance class, when Cassie bounced up beside her.
Kelton almost bolted out of his sixth period class when the bell rang, heading towards his dance class. Why did Piper pick the name Gwen?
"hiya," Cass chirped. Piper laughed in spite of herself; sometimes Cassie was so goofy.
"Hey," Piper smiled back. "We're so close to knowing what parts we get to audition for! Aren't you excited?" she scrunched up her face and clapped her hands.
Kelton yelped in surprise when one of his friends had tried to pick him up from the back. "Put me down!" He yelled, squirming around as he laughed a bit.
Cassie and Piper heard the yell from behind them and moved to the side of the hallway to wait for Kelton and his friends.
"I swear to god, if you don't put me down, I will elbow you or knee you." Kelton threatened, smirking when he felt himself being lowered. His friend chuckled at his threat after he had let go of Kelton. "You really need to gain weight, you're so skinny!"
“Yeah, he is,” Piper joined in, poking Kelton in the side. His friend put his hand up to high-five Piper, and she smacked it in return.
"Excuse me? Am I being skinny shamed?" Kelton asked, putting a hand over his heart for extra effect.
"Pfft yes," Piper answered. "So, do you guys know what you're gonna do for the auditions?" she asked.
Kelton gasped in surprise. "I'm offended," He replied before a small smile appeared on his face. "I have no clue, I just want to get the auditions over with."
Cassie giggled. "Why aren't you excited, Max? You could end up getting a scholarship if you're a good dancer!"
"I know, but I'm not really that good of a dancer. On top of that, not everyone thinks of a boy dancing when they hear the word ballet," Kelton answered.
"Dude," Piper chimed in, "literally half of the dancers here are guys, you have nothing to worry about. Besides, even if you're not that good of a dancer, we have plenty of time to practice." Her curls swung back and forth as she walked.
"Girl, I know that, and I've practiced enough." Kelton replied sarcastically.
"Well excuse me," she joked in return. "It's not my fault your dancing doesn't show that you've practiced at all."
"Okay, first of all, you haven't even seen me dance. You've only seen me stretch this morning, that's it." He replied, a small smile on his face.
"Not true, I saw you dance a tiny bit. And besides that, even if I hadn't, your stretching leaves a lot to be desired," she retorted, returning the smile.
Their little spat was halted by Cassie. "Okay, okay, we get it. Anywho, it doesn't matter whether any of you are good dancers, since I'm already the best," she joked, and flipped her curls over her shoulder.
Kelton chuckled and repeatedly bowed down. "Yes, indeed. All hail Cassie, the queen of ballet! I am not worthy of being in your presence," He said sarcastically, trying his best not to burst into laughter.
"Do ya want some eggs with that ham?" Piper asked as she curtsied awkwardly.
