"Hm? Oh- I suppose I will protect you as well. You are my wife after all."
He spoke, continuing to pet isamu as she put his hair up, not paying all that much attention.
"Is there another one for isamu? He would probably be quite dashing with one on." He spoke firmly, however he seemed more relaxed then he had in the library. He just moved to glance in a mirror to see what she did, before moving back to petting isamu.
Man's likes his dogs okay.
"You did a good job putting my hair up.' He spoke, looking up at her.

@knightinadream group

"You suppose?" She repeated in a light matter. Emese patted Haruta's head then went back to the bed. "You should know, it's part of what you promised when we married. It's alright. I can protect myself too, but sometimes it is hard to protect yourself, you know?"

She stood by the side of the table. Her fingers lightly breezed across the other head scarves before picking up a light yellow one, Isamu's favorite color. Turning to Haruta and the dog, she held it up.

Clicking her tongue, she patted her thighs to summon the dog. "Does someone want to wear their favorite head scarf?" She asked as Isamu rushed over. Carefully Emese sat down and tied it almost the same way she did with herself and Haruta. She laughed as the dog wagged his tail with glee.

Her eyes glimpsed over to Haruta. The gleam on her face slightly dimmed as she gave a nod. "Thank you," was all that she could say at first. "I thought it would be useful for you, although your hair is already fine as it is."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He watched as isamu made his way over to her and how happy he was when he finally had it on.
He moved to stand up and brush himself off from sitting down. He moved to look directly at her, watching as she spoke.
"Yes, it is hard to protect oneself. I can protect you when the need arises."
He spoke, not clear if he was attempting another joke or if he was being serious again.
He looked around the room observing the surrounding room.
so this is what her room looks like then, I had forgotten a bit.
He turned back to her.
"Your welcome."

@knightinadream group

Emese was not sure how to react to any of this. There is not a single book or word from those she looks up to to give her any direction or wisdom. She did her best to stay away from focusing on the oddities by petting the dog.

Haruta's words invoked some state of question in her mind. Clearly better than the strange feeling floating around in the air. Is he just saying these things because they are legally bounded to each other? Is it because her agreeing to the marriage had given him the crown? A sudden question escaped her lips.

"Would you?"

A flash of heat pressed against her face at the realization of her question. Her hands frozen then removed from Isamu. She stood up from the bed. Isamu walked off, happily going around the room and examining things via sniffing everything.

"Even if there is no dire need to do so, would you protect me?" She asked. Though thoroughly determined about what kind of answer she'd be given, there was a small drop of hope that it wouldn't turn out to be what she expects.

Her left hand squeezed her right as she gazed back at the king. Emese kept her chin tilted up despite the urge to have it titled to look away.

He walked over to her, staring at her from his tall stance.
He took a deep breath, and exhaled as he stared at her, observing her body language and the like.
"You are my Queen, I shall protect you the moment I notice the threat on your life." He spoke, putting a hand on her shoulder, before moving it as soon as he finished speaking since he figured that seemed about right.
He went to see what isamu was doing when he finished speaking with her, deciding that he might want to pet him more.
He missed having a dog a lot.

@knightinadream group

As he walked over to her, Emese turned her head to gaze at the bed and wall. Yes, she had to give into the urge of not wanting to look at him. She just had to at that moment. Besides, she didn't know what to feel listening to his words. Looking at him while listening would make it worse.

Yet he placed a hand on her shoulder. Emese could feel her heart making a tremendous thump; a rather foolish one at best. In an instant, she placed her fist above it, wishing for it to go away. Tears formed in her eyes at the shame and self-disappointment.

Isamu stopped sniffing around the vanity table. Making a rather slow turn, he went over to Emese with his tail wagging side to side. She squatted while reaching out to pet him. Only a few moments passed by as she petted the dog before standing up. Still, Isamu stood there, happily waiting as per usual.

"Your queen…." is all that she could manage to say. Her voice was quiet yet restrained in order to hide any signs of sadness or frustration. While she does not wish for another fight or a moment where she is crying in front of him, more words built up inside of her. "As king, you should be sensing dangers first-hand. You'd be more successful in saving yourself and whatever else you find……vital."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He frowned as he noticed the tears gathering in her eyelids, what had he said this time to make her cry? He thought what he said was rather a good thing to try and comfort her but he seems to have just maken it worse again.
Women can be so fragile at times it erks him.
Though he's never said the thought outlook lest he be whooped by his nanny for saying such a thing. He lets out a soft sigh as he watches isamu go over and comfort her, too which she barely seems like she can get out the words she speaks.
"I'm afraid that my danger sensing abilities aren't the greatest, but the moment i notice danger I'm better at acting upon it and making sure no harm befalls the people I protect."
He spoke, glancing over at her with a neutral but determined look.

@knightinadream group

"I do not need your protection." The words rushed out of her suddenly. They ran off her tongue as if they have been waiting a whole lifetime to be said. A shiver ran through her heart. Using the side of her left hand, she wiped the tears away, hoping they would not appear again.

Removing the head scarf, she let it fall onto the floor. Emese walked over to the king with her chin up high despite her slow, almost sluggish, movements. She sighed. "I understand what you are trying to do, but save your efforts for something you truly care about."

Her hands came up to his chest. Delicately, her fingers went up to adjust the buttons on his coat. She spoke while doing so. "Do not let my tears speak for me for I am a force to be reckoned with. The only true danger I need to be protected from is myself. You would understand this if you took a moment or two to step outside your personal fortitude."

Once she was finished adjusting and fixing, she took a step back. "I have no intentions of being rude or cruel to you….it is just the truth." She clenched her skirts and turned around to see a servant with the dog leash. "Ah…I forgot about his walk today…"

He sighed, "I could always take him out on his walk if you wish to be left alone. However since you seem to be so keen with me spending more time outside of my normal schedule we could always go out for a walk together."
He grabbed the leash and walked over to her holding it out to her.
"You could always go walk him on your own, the choice is yours." He spoke, his voice smooth, though he had some edges too it when it came to tone.
He waited there for her to take the leash, a part of him wanted her to leave him alone so he could focus more on work.
However…he did almost wish for them to do something together, maybe…should he put it more of an effort?
Just because of his nanny and this girl bothering him?
He hadn't the faintest idea if he were questioned about women. His mom hadn't been around and the only women he knew were the servants, who he charmed easily.

@knightinadream group

If spending time with Haruta is going to make him miserable or teach him a lesson, then she is going to do so. Besides, it's an opportunity she cannot refuse; it'd be foolish to pass up on it. Initially, Emese wouldn't want to make him miserable, it's not right to; she knows and believes this. On the other hand, she will have to bear his children and she has already been discarded several times already. If being a good wife is torture, then she must be a sadist.

Swiftly, she took the leash from the king. If anything, she would have made him put it on, but oh well. Beggars can't be choosers, sadly. The sight of the leash was enough to get Isamu to come over. At least it is feasible to put it on the dog, even though he is big and extremely fluffy.

"I am only keen to spend time with you as it is part of my duty to, and it is the same for you too," She stated, "But one shouldn't be needing an external account to tell them that, now should they?"

Wrapping the end of the leash around her hand, Isamu went on forward as they both went to the door. Holding a bit tightly, Emese stopped to look over her shoulder. She said, "On the other hand, I would appreciate it if you do come with," then walked out.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He stood there for a few seconds, thinking about what she said and moving to walk after her.
He turned to the servant that gave them the leash, and spoke.
"Reschedule my meeting for later today, tell them I send my condolences however my wife wishes for me to spend time with her."
He then moved to walk after her in long strides, eventually finding her outside the palace and on one of the pathways through the palace garden.
He still has his hair up like she did it early, figuring it wouldn't be in the way that way.
"Well, I'm here." He spoke as he approached her.

@knightinadream group

Emese did not bother to wait. Either way, she knew she had to keep on walking, especially since the gardens are far away from her chambers. Her steps were at a regular pace, but her regular pace is nimble and quick. Making a right turn, she strolled out into the gardens. Isamu stopped to sniff some flowers, but she tugged the leash a little and they were off again.

Looking over her shoulder, she watched the king walk out and approach her. With a sigh, she went back to gazing ahead until he was at her side. "I see….." She said in a deadpanned manner before offering a small smile, "How thoughtful of you."

The dog was focused on walking with the occasional sniffing plants and flowers they passed by. His tail wagged side to side. Emese glanced down at Isamu before glimpsing over to Haruta. "I hope the nobles will not be hurt by your delay, although I am sure they will overcome and welcome it."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"Oh I'm sure they can get over whatever Hissy fit they decided to throw when they received the news that I rescheduled the meeting that they said was so important."
He spoke, tightening the tie in his hair so it dosent come out.
He then straighted out his clothes before just simply walking alongside her as they walked through the garden area.

He looked at the garden, just taking it all in. He was enjoying being outside without actually having to doing anything of importance.
Well, royal importance.
He glanced down at isamu as they walked down the pathway, glad he seemed to be enjoying the walk.

He had his arms stiffly by his sides as he walked.

@knightinadream group

A laugh flew freely from her. She had her head slightly tilted back while doing so. What the king said reminded her of the things her father and some of her brother would say about these meetings. Each and every single time, she would imagine herself at these meetings. She longed to be there, to witness debates, to carry solutions through discourse; it's one responsibility especially meant to be for a queen.

"I have been told that a good portion of the time,they just want to show themselves off. Half of them have no intelligence behind the words they spatter out, as if it is all for show," She mused, "But take it from me, they do it all the time, everywhere anytime."

The dog stopped to take a moment to relieve himself. When Isamu was finished, Emese motioned for one of the servants to take care of it. She thanked them then continued on. The dog would occasionally stop to sniff flowers.

In the corner of her eye, she could not ignore how rigid Haruta's arms were. They were stiff enough to cause discomfort for the muscles need relaxation. Switching the leash to her right hand, she took a hold of Haruta's. Once she locked fingers, she began to lightly swing their hands.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"Well, its not exactly wrong. They act all high and mighty when in reality they knew very little."
He spoke, walking besides her.
However he was caught off guard when she took his hand in hers and…started swinging it?
He raised a brow in her direction, looking between their hands and her.
"What is with the swinging? is just holding hands not enough?" he questioned her, his gaze resting on her.

@knightinadream group

Is any of this enough? Emese is the only one putting in any sincere effort, and she is starting to lose it now after beginning to experience burn out. She bit down on her tongue in order to kept herself afloat. Getting a glimpse down at their hands, she saw that there is only one jade band on her finger. Emese just gave the king's hand a light squeeze then took a deep breath.

"If I haven't made my point yet…..no, clearly holding hands isn't enough. Just like your apology and your presence isn't enough," She sighed then stopped with the swinging; she began to contemplate letting go of his hand. "I just wanted to be more than a jewel on your crown. I wanted to love you and be loved by you. I wanted to be more than a wife who sits around all day alone, that's all."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He used his other hand to run a hand through his hair, letting out a sigh as he looked forward. He looked back at their hands and moved to have them starting swinging again.
He decided that he might as well tell her what she's getting into.
Though he didn't know why he felt the need to tell her anything, he didn't need to do anything.
He was king.
He moved to look away at the garden.
"I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not exactly…love filled. I was only raised to ascend the throne…I was told that whoever I chose for my wife did not matter and that I should focus more on my duties as king. At least, that's my father said."
He let out a soft sigh as they walk and he Swung their hands a little slower then she did earlier.

@knightinadream group

Emese wasn't sure if she would be laughed at for almost dragging her feet or her pupils instantly growing wide. Her hand was swinging, and it is clasped to his. She turned her head to stare at him, almost missing his words due to being slightly surprised.

"Forgive me for this, but your father is wrong. Not completely, yet he missed some critical points that you will have to learn on your own now," She stated. "Now, I am not criticizing him or you. Past is the past, but it damns the present and future." It's taxing on the mind and heart; she knows that she can, and will, not be the one to teach him love. And if he doesn't, well she doesn't want to think of it.

Emese briefly looked down at her hands. It's too good to be true. Her mind doesn't want to believe that it is reality only to just feel disappointment in the end. "Choosing a wife did matter, highly. You picked one who is practically the same as you; strong and needs to take on responsibilities because she knows that she can do so, properly." She gazed up at the sky. "To be a king, you have to be love filled. You have to think of the people, military, other nations' people, your wife, and even your future children. If you want to do well, you have to balance being love filled and your kingly duties."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He sighed, feeling flashbacks from when he was a child and his mother died infeont of him.
He looked back at their hands, the swinging back in forth as they walked.
He then looked forward once again, "I suppose..I have a lot more to learn, haven't i?' He spoke slowly..but he didn't seem to mask any ill intentions behind his words as he spoke.
He didn't think that she was all high and mighty, but he did know that some of the things his father taught him were wrong.
The fact that he had to punish his son so that he would learn them better was one of the reasons.
He waited for her response as they Walked.

@knightinadream group

"You do…." The words rushed out of her like second nature. She did not even bat an eye at the lack of hesitation. Although her father always told her how dangerous it is to have such a sharp tongue, she always believed it to be useful, but she is aware of how it can ruin things.

Emese wished she had more to say, more hopeful and optimistic things to say, but her mind drew a blank. All the damage left cracks in her heart. A heart that cannot offer much to Haruta as much as it could offer herself; if it could offer anything to her at all.

Purposefully, she kept the silence. Not only did she need to gather her thoughts, she needed time to recount everything. Holding his hand, walking alongside him as they talk, and their swinging their arms is too strange to her. While it is something she has dreamed of for a long time, she wished that it was how she had dreamed of it.

She hummed in thought. "You do have a lot to learn," She continues, "Everyone has somethings to learn. I know that I do, but you do….you really do."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He sighed internally as he listened to her talk. Even if he was considered soft for saying it, he was going to say it. He hadn't much to say to her in the first place.
"Perhaps..we can learn together. Though I doubt I have as much to learn as you do. He made a half hearted joke, though some part of him knew that he was actually very wrong on her needing to learn more then he did.
He continued to walk along side her as they walked the dog.

@knightinadream group

Her pride initially led her to bit her lip down. She knew that her thinking of her not needing to learn much is wrong. Haruta is right. They can learn together. It is part of what makes a couple (let alone a monarch one) a strong, stable one nonetheless. And that is what she wants, even though her shoulders feel stiff from the moment. Her mind is nothing but downpour and constant thunder and lightning.

"Oh…." Emese rolled her eyes at the little joke of his. She shook her head, "We can, yet let me remind you that most of it will be placed upon you and how you take all of this." She glimpsed over at him. "You can learn everything about something, and walk away knowing nothing. It is a possibility, yet I will not tolerate it."

Glimpsing down at the dog then ahead, she sighed. "It is only one possibility, and I wish for it to not be ours."
