When Phoebe held onto Kalon's hand, he watched her curiously for a moment before readjusting himself. They set the notebook in their lap, and he held it in place with his wrist as he continued to write. They figured it would be a while until Phoebe woke up.
She squeezed his hand in her sleep, before her grip become more relaxed. She slept a good while before she finally started to stirr in the bed. She opened her eyes slowly, and moved to sit up. She looked at the there two hands intertwined.
"When did that happen?"
Kalon looked up from his writing when Phoebe started to stir. "Hm? Oh, you grabbed onto me while you were asleep. I didn't want to disturb you." They replied simply. "I can write just as well with one hand as with two, so it's no inconvenience."
(Bump)
"Oh, I wonder why I reached out for your hand..perhaps it was a small comfort in my dreams." She wondered out loud, smiling softly at him.
"What are you writing kalon?" She moved to try and look at the contents of the paper.
Kalon shrugged. "I'm not sure what your dreams entailed. I hope I was of some comfort to you." He replied softly. At her question, he looked up at her curiously and shifted the pages so she could see. "Just work stuff. Nothing too exciting." They replied. The page was full of notes about the stars, most of which were details about the conditions of particular stars and ones whose positions needed to shift.
(Bump)
She smiled at him, giving his hand a squeeze.
"I know you were." She spoke softly, moving to read the book as he showed her what he was writing.
"Your on top of everything i see." She made a soft comment, studying the page.
"The stars are such a beautiful mystery aren't they?"
Kalon smiled softly in return and continued scribbling down notes and little diagrams. "Yes… I have to know the condition and location of every star. I've got a lot of these notebooks, and I have to keep them very well organized." He chuckled a bit, writing down the names of the stars they were diagramming beside them. "They are… beautiful and intriguing. Just like you." He smiled up at Phoebe.
She smiled down at Kalon, though she felt a tinge of blush on her cheeks as she heard him say that.
"Thank you kalon. Im very much appreciative for your kind words." She moved to hug him close, setting her head on kalons. She hoped the hug wasn't too sudden, she had just found it necessary for the situation.
Kalon looked up curiously when Phoebe hugged him. They couldn't exactly hug back from this position, after all. "Ah… no problem. Do you have anything you need to attend to today?" He asked. "You should be resting, so I can make sure that whatever it is gets done."
"The only thing that I have need of doing is staying by your side and keeping you safe Kalon."
She hummed softly as she ran her hands through his hair as she did so.
"Could you..perhaps rest besides me so I know you are safe?"
"Ah?" Kalon flushed lightly and paused before nodding. "Right, yes… of course." After another moment, he carefully got onto the bed. "I can watch over you. I am not in need of any more sleep at the moment, but I know I will be safe so long as I am by your side."
"Alright well, i haven't need for sleep at least a bit longer." she smiled at kalon, though her flush hadn't gone away yet. she let out a soft yawn as she said so but she tried to pretend as if it hadn't just happened.
"well, I'm glad you feel safe by my side. i would never let any harm befall you."
Kalon nodded, staring at the ceiling for the time being. He had set his notebooks aside so that Phoebe could have his undivided attention. "Even if you don't sleep, it's good for you to rest. It'll be difficult for you to heal if you push yourself too much."
"I suppose you are right…though i wouldn't expect for you to be wrong." she smiled at him, her smile was soft but had lots of radiance to it. she just smiled at him, before looking around the room, then back to him once again. she noticed how he set his journals aside. hes focusing entirely on me.. the thought made her smile.
Kalon looked over at Phoebe with a soft smile in return. He wasn't entirely sure what to do, to be honest. He rarely had time that he was just sitting around. "Well… what do you want to talk about?" They asked. "I suppose you don't actually know too much about me, do you? Do you have any questions?"
"Oh right! well um..whats your favorite thing to do when you don't have to work?" she spoke, seemingly excited to get to know him more.
"Hm… I really like to explore the town with you." Kalon hummed thoughtfully. "Just to go out and see the society that I'm usually shut away from. Even the things that are everyday activities for the people are exciting to me."
"Well..I like to explore the town with you as well, I know I will be able to keep you safe sticking by your side. Plus i want you to still be able to experience things for your own. " She smiles to him.
Kalon nodded a bit and smiled as well. "I often feel disconnected from the people… I'm not sure what exactly I am, even, but whatever I am keeps me separate from the kingdom. There are very few beings who I can relate to." He sighed, their smile weakening a bit.
She watched as his smile weakened, she hated when she saw that beautiful smile of his dim, when he was upset.
"I'm sorry to hear that…just know, I'm always here for you. I never wish for you to be alone, I hope I can offer some solace in the fact that you don't have many to relate too.'
Kalon nodded a bit and ran his fingers through his hair. "Of course. I appreciate your companionship greatly, Phoebe. It's just unfortunate that I won't have the opportunity to meet many others like myself. The moon goddess, of course, is the closest I'll get to another deity. But I'd be grateful to make some mortal friends as well. Although it does sadden me that I may lose them someday…"
"Yes..it is..I hope that in the future you will get to meet more, I know you will."
She smiled brightly at him, running a hand through his hair.
"I have faith." She hugged him close to her like they had been.
"Well, I won't leave you. I promise."
Kalon leaned into Phoebe's touch and seemed to relax somewhat. "Thanks, Phoebe… sorry for getting all mopey." He laughed softly, closing his eyes. "I'll cheer up. I don't like to act so down. What else can we talk about?"
She smiled as he seemed to relax, she giggled softly playing with his hair.
"Oh its alright, your allowed to get sad around me. I will just treat you with lots of hugs and cuddles."
She smiled at him, hugging him close.
Kalon smiled weakly and returned the hug, holding onto Phoebe. He was gentle, not wanting to hurry her, but he clearly didn't want to let go right now. "Thanks…" They sighed softly and closed their eyes, although he wasn't tired enough to sleep at the moment. "I'll have to do a little extra work tonight. I think I may have made a few mistakes last night…"
She clearly didn't care about hurting herself when she gave him a tight and comfortable warm hug. She could tell that he probably needed it.
Of course that caused her wince at her wound, though she tried to ignore the pain that it caused her. She continued to stroke his head gently as he spoke.
"Oh no..is that my fault?"
"No, never your fault…" Kalon replied softly, thankful for Phoebe's closeness. "I was worried, of course, but I would never blame you for that. It's not your fault." They buried their face in her shoulder. "I'll fix it. It's fine. I've got everything logged in my journals anyway, so it shouldn't take too long. I might just be a little extra tired tomorrow morning."
She exhaled,
"thank goodness..I would hate to get in the way of your work, or your focus. I wouldn't want you to get into any trouble because of me."
She still continued to stroke there head gently, smiling softly as they cuddled closer.
"Take all the rest you need, I will be here."'
