"I don't 'go out' as a rule of thumb," Simon said. "And I'm not going to ask him out! I don't want to make him uncomfortable. And besides, we spend plenty of time together."
"I don't 'go out' as a rule of thumb," Simon said. "And I'm not going to ask him out! I don't want to make him uncomfortable. And besides, we spend plenty of time together."
Noah rolled his eyes and sighed dramatically. "What rule? You don't date guys you like? He's lived with you for how long and you think he's going to be uncomfortable with you asking him out on a date?" He ran a hand through his hair "what if I help? Get you both out on a date or something."
"No, I meant- Aw, shut up! Look, I'm sort of out-of-practice if you must know. He just makes me nervous, alright?" Simon ruffled his hair, making it stick up. "What are you gonna do? Make a romantic dinner?"
"he makes you nervous?" Noah asked in disbelief "wow, didn't know somone so small and cute like him could make someone nervous." He muttered, scooting closer to Simon. "Well, yeah a dinner would probably be nice. But you two don't seem like the romantic mushy gushy dinner type. What do you like to do?" He asked trying to formulate a date plan for them
Simon smiled slightly. “He is cute, isn’t he?” He tipped his head, thinking. “I dunno. I like to read. I paint sometimes. I don’t do much.”
Noab huffed a laugh and nodded "yeah, especially when he's mad." He bunched his lips to the side in thought. "Well, you both like books, Raz has a bookshelf lining his room at his place. Don't tell him I told you but if it's not fantasy, most of the books are romances and cutesy stuff like that." Noah laughed softly. "But I can work with books. There's a really nice bookstore in town I used to go to when I wanted to get away from the world." He waved a head in the air and sighed softly "before I came here, of course."
"Do you think he'd like it?" Simon popped his knuckles, staring at his boots. "That sounds like a good idea. Here's a thought. I'll make you a deal. You take care of my cats while we're out, and I'll ask him on a date."
He nodded enthusiastically "definitely. And I can ask the owner if they'd be willing to close early for you two. She owes me a favor anyways." He shrugged and smiled slyly. "Oh all you had to say was cats and it's a deal. Besides, there's no way I'm staying while you two make out. I'm not that much of a masochist."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," Simon said. "And for God's sake, I'm not going to make out with him. You ass," He said, shoving Noah lightly.
Noah giggled and gmswattwd Simon's hand away. "Oh sure, you say that now. Who knows, things might change when you're actually on the date." Naoh mused with a wiggle of his eyebrow. He glanced up as the door opened and Raz came back inside. "How are your parents so intense and you're like this?" He asked, glaring at his phone and setting it aside
Noah shrugged "I'm the black sheep of the family. Don't ask me." Raz sighed "well, they agreed to let you stay over at least for tonight. We'll work something out later if you need to stay longer." He explained, finding some papers for Noah to sign. "Am I missing something?" Raz asked curiously, flicking his gaze between the two.
Noah shook his head "nope! Just getting to know your roommate and his cats."
Simon schooled his face into the approximation of a neutral expression. "We're- fine." He coughed slightly, brushing his hair out of his eyes. "You know you left those braids in, right?"
Raz glanced down at his shoulder and shrugged slightly "I like them." He settle back down at his desk and made a few more phone calls to his higher ups just to make sure it was alright that Noah stay with him for the next couple days.
Noah gently nudged Simon's knee as he stood to give Raz the papers, giving him an encouraging smile.
Simon bit his lip, glancing at Noah, then back at Razielle. In a rushed voice, before he lost his nerve, he said, “Razyou wantto gotothebookstorewithme?”
Raz glanced up from scanning his papers. "Uhm sure. I'd love to. But what about Noah?" He asked, bidding his head towards the boy. Noah waved his hand "I'll be fine at Simon's place. He has cats! What more could i need? Besides, you seem to need a break. Go have fun."
Simon's face brightened. "Cool. Awesome! And, Noah, about the cats. Jack is probably in the sink. He's fine there, but if he gets out, turn off the faucet. And Spooks will cry because she wants food, but she's getting chubby, so ignore her." Simon got to his feet and tugged on the cuffs of his hoodie.
Raz snapped his head up "wait now? What about Noah?"
Noah waved a hand in dismissal "I'll be fine. Just drop me off and you two can go enjoy your night." He reassured, nudging Raz out of his chair and towards the door. "You're sure you won't need us or something?" Raz asked worriedly as he grabbed his keys and jacket. Noah shook his head. "Nope! Plus I have your number in case I do. But I promise nothing's going to happen."
"What's he gonna do? Eat the leftover pancakes?" Simon smiled slightly. "He's taking care of my children. What more could I ask for?"
"exactly! Though I might eat the pancakes if Raz made them." Raz glanced between the two of them, narrowing his eyes suspiciously "you're both awfully pushy about this." He muttered, shaking his head in defeat. "Alright, we'll drop Noah off and go to the book store."
"Raz did make the pancakes," Simon pointed out. "Well, in that case, onward and upward." He opened the door for the others.
"then don't expect to find any pancakes in the fridge tomorrow morning." Noah said, going through the door. Raz followed him out with a small smile pausing at the door until Simon went through to lock his office.
Simon led the way down the street, then at the door, he unlocked it and gave Noah the keys. Spooks immediately clung to his leg and Simon pulled her off and deposited her in Noah's arms. "There you go," Simon said and retrieved his wallet from the counter.
Noah immediately brightened as the car was given to him. "Oh you are so cute!" He cooed, adjusting his hold on Spooks so that she was more comfortable in his arms. "Yeah I'm good now, you two have fun!" He called, waving as he nudged the door closed. Raz shook his head with a sigh and glanced up at Simon. "You two are definitely planning something. Mind filling me in?" He asked, starting to walk down the hall
"Aw. I was hoping you wouldn't notice," Simon said embarrassedly. "He. . .Uh, Noah, is-well. He knows how I feel. . . about you." He paused, looking away, picking at his palm. "He said I should ask you on a date," Simon said. "So I did."
Raz paused momemtarily, "wait so this a date?" He looked back at the door then back at Simon. He breathed a laugh. "I should have known something like this was up when he was suddenly smiling and laughing." He gently took Simon's hand, both to stop him from picking at it and to pull him into a walk again. "I honestly thought you just really wanted to go to the library." He laughed, blush rising to his cheeks at his own embarrassment
Simon blinked in surprise when Raz took his hand. “It’s- I mean, is that okay. . . with you?”
Raz nodded "I'm not really good at dating or relationships but I don't mind this. It's actually really cute, and I don't think you could have thought if a better place." He lightened in hold on Simon's hand in case he wanted to pull away but kept a relatively close distance between the them as they walked
"Okay," Simon said, letting out a breath. "Good. That makes me feel better." He intertwined their fingers hesitantly.
Raz glanced over and gently squeezed their interlaced hands. "I didn't take you as a romantic, date kinda person. Not that it's a bad thing but it's nice seeing you all flustered and nervous for once."
“I do not know how to feel about that statement,” Simon said, relaxing slightly. “No, I’m not romantic, I’m just following advice.”
"it seems we owe Noah then." Raz chuckled lightly, peeking over at Simon. "Still, this is really nice, it's been ages since I've been on a date, even longer with someone that I actually like."
