Alister nodded to both of them, rubbing Noel's back when his eyes grew wide and his blush intensified. "W-wait, you think I'm cool? Oh, um, I… uh, thanks."
A hint of a smile crossed Noel's face as she listened. August reached over from across the table and took her hand in reassurance. Noel nodded to her, and August let go, looking over the others.
"Well, if you guys are done blushing and complimenting each other, we think we found Malachi," she said.

He blushed even more, nodding and smiling shyly at Alister.
"y-yeah, i do."
He blushed even more in embarrassment at augusts comment.
"you know where he is? How?"
Trent turned as well looking at August.
Matteo had crawled out from under the table, leaving the plate there and going over to tug on Alisters sleeve.
"Who's Malachi's?"

For a moment Alister was transfixed by Evan’s smile until August caught his attention. He lowered his gaze in embarrassment, then felt the tug on his sleeve. He ruffled Matteo’s hair, saying, “He’s the leader of this rebellion. He’s gone missing.”
Emery spoke up, keeping their gaze on the holographic screen. “I hacked into the experimentation labs’ records to see if I could find anything. Apparently two human subjects escaped the premises at around 3:15 in the afternoon.”
“That was around the time we got back to the ‘7 rebels headquarters.” August expression was focused; you could see the gears turning in her head.
“Apparently the alien guard who had attempted to kill one of the humans was found dead, and the humans no where in sight,” Emery continued.
“But how can we be sure one of them is Malachi?” Charlie leaned forward.
“Well, we know that the aliens here want him dead. The girl we saw before he disappeared was most likely working for them. She may have some sort of teleportation power that took them both to the experimentation labs,” August reasoned.
“Hmm,” Emery stared at the screen. “The names of the humans seem to be censored. Let me see if I can mess with the settings a bit…”
Their fingers flew across the screen, swiping and tapping. Another screen projected from the electronic ball, and Emery switched between them, like they were placing the record in another program.
“This might take several minutes or so…” they murmured after a moment.
“We just need to make sure that it’s him, and then we’ll need to see if we can find out where he went next,” August said.

Fun fact: Malachi does not have a quick reaction time, at least at times like these. When he realized she was going to fall, it was too late. He tried to catch her, but he was too slow and his hands slipped. His helpless grin turned into a wide, very concerned and not at all happy smile. When she landed on the ground, he let the smile drop while he picked up her small body in his arms.
“Aww,” he said in dismay, “I broke her.”

The creature chirped at him, seeming to deny his statement. Malachi shrugged. He turned back to Arden and muttered, “Come on, chat noir, we have to get going.”
He shook her to see if she would revive.

The kitten got up and yawned, stretching before moving over onto Kali, and settling on her. Well until she was shaked then there were many meows in protest as he clung onto Kalis clothes with his claws.
He gave a little hiss to Malachi

"oh…that's bad," he tried to listen in to what they were talking about, moving to hold onto Alisters hand with his baby hands.
Evan was listening intently the whole time, more of a serious but not angry expression on his face.
"That's the closest we've gotten yet." He thought for a moment, "okay let's just hypothetically say one of the humans is Malachi, where would malachi go from the experimentations lab? Like whats closest to there, and what would someone maybe pass through to get here?" I don't know how much senAe that makes but i tried ;-; anyway. "Like thinking if what malachi might do."
Trent nodded along with what he was saying.

Charlie leaned forward, peering at one of the screens. “The Grey Woods sits right next to the labs, so I would think it would be the best place to go. It has the most cover. The Woods separate District 6 and the labs anyway, so if Malachi knew where to go, he’d come from the northwest…”
“So Malachi could be somewhere northwest, in the Grey Woods?” Noel chimed in. A sliver of hope seemed to settle in her glittering eyes.
“Hold on,” Emery said. “Just a minute, I think I’m getting it…”
Their eyes squinted for a moment, then widened. “It’s him. It’s him! And… the other human who escaped…” Their gaze turned to Evan. “Someone named Arden.”
“Yes! We found him!” August cried, but then she registered the rest of Emery’s words and her head snapped to Evan in surprise. In fact, everyone turned to look at him.

The kitten got up and yawned, stretching before moving over onto Kali, and settling on her. Well until she was shaked then there were many meows in protest as he clung onto Kalis clothes with his claws.

Malachi glanced at the kitten apologetically before turning back to Arden. ”Mes excuses, chat noir,” he muttered, and smacked her in the face.

Well i can tell you one thing, he hated all the attention and all the eyes on him, and almost hid behind Alister like Matteo did in the past.
Matteo noticed how nervous Evan was and went infront of him with a huff yelling at everyone.
"what are you looking at?! Mind your own businesses!" (;) Activating his power)
Evan was shocked by matteo defending him and smiled at that, softly. It brought him out of his nerves and shock,
How was there someone else named arden?..
"right- um, thank you hun but you don't need to protect me, i'll be fine." He smiled at matteo, giving him a headpat before turning to them.
"i don't know why there's another arden…what do they look like or there gender?"
Maybe it was the girl he:d been seeing?

He still stared down malachi and let out a meow in protest when Kali was slapped, wiggling around in the spinx's jaw.
Kali did indeed wake up, and she immediately moved to grab at his throat and sqeeze, but when she realized it was malachi she immediately let go
"Oh shoot sorry-"
Quin had turned into his human form and gotten free from the spinx and launched at Malachi after Kali let go.

A strangled cry erupted from Malachi as he was reminded of how strong Arden was, then coughed when she let go. “It’s fine, it’s fine— ” he heaved, but was given no further moment of rest as he felt a small body slam into him. Dizziness and shock began to overtake him, so he could not immediately react. The sphinx let out a yelp of surprise.

(Just imagining this smol girl almsot chokes you out and then word go and then you get attacked by the human fur all immediately after. )

(Poor malachi)

The smol cat boy had indeed tackled him to the ground and was hissing at him, Before just "Don't touch her!" yelling at his face glaring at him.
Kali was litterally in shock.
Why was there a cat boy here and why was it saying not to touch her-?
Unless-
She turned around and yeah the kitten was gone.
So i guess this was the kitten huh.
She moved forward towards them and malachi and picked him by his shirt, and set him off of malachi.
"we don't attack our friends." She huffed at him.
"But- he slapped you!"
"we don't, attack, our friends. No buts."
"Fine…."
"Thank you." She then gave the little guy a hug because well, he had already hugged onto her during the time they were talking. She patted his head gently, before turning to malachi. .oh yeah Quins head barely went up to her stomach.

At Matteo's shout, everyone immediately looked back to what they were originally focusing on, and apologies were muttered. For Alister, it was looking back at Noel. He stroked her back, silently hating himself because he worried he made Evan uncomfortable. He would have gladly been his shield, though.
Emery's gaze was back on the screen. "It doesn't mention their appearance or anything, but the ID number is 0631. Do you remember your ID number, Arden?"
"Maybe it's the girl we saw who may have kidnapped him," August wondered aloud. "But if she's the one who took him, why is she escaping too? And how could she be…?"
She looked back at Evan, though cautiously this time, and studied him. "I don't know if it's just my memory messing with me, but she did kind of look like you, Evan."

Malachi winced as the boy tackled him and yelled in his face. He was so loud, and Malachi could feel his head beginning to pound. The yelling seemed to mix with the screams of the large, dinosaur-like creatures whose fists buried themselves in his chest, his back, and the pain that followed. He wasn't supposed to feel pain, they said. He wasn't supposed to get any of those bruises, scratches, so he will be punished–
A mixture of fear and anger began to bubble inside him, adding to the pain of his rising headache. He gritted his teeth, forcing himself not to shout out loud. That was a long time ago, no one is attacking him like that, surely the boy only feels threatened by Malachi's size and height.
He stayed on the ground for a few seconds, trying to calm himself. He rose to his feet, putting a hand on his temple and leaning on the sphinx. He managed to smile at the boy and Arden, though it was pained and short-lived. The absence of the kitten and the boy's white hair let him put 2 and 2 together.
”Je suis désolé, I'm sorry," he said, voice straining slightly. "I was only trying to bring her back to the land of the living if you know what I mean. I didn't know you could be that flustered, chat noir."

Kali moved over to him well she was gonna help him up but when he moved to get up on his own she moved back to her original position, looking anywhere but at him.
She was about to ask if he was okay before he made that last comment.
"i did not get that flustered." She looked away from him with a huff, "We will not speak about that."
She said firmly as she looked away from him, she didn't even know she could get that flustered.
Or even get flustered, she had never before so why was now different?
The kitten boy just stared at him, "as long as you weren't trying to hurt her.."

He was just as lost as everyone else, maybe even more so.
What would a sibling of his be doing working for the aliens?..
Why?
What if, the girl he'd been seeing and this other girl were the same?

What if he had been seeing his sister?

"Do you guys actually think?.." he didn't know what to say he was speechless, i mean the fact that you have surviving family that might care about you is awesome but when they work for the aliens it turns it into a horror situation.
But if they were still working there why did they escape?
He had so many questions and so little answers.
trent was speechless, did evan really have someone related to him he never knew about? I mean just the concept idea was crazy in itself.

“Yes, Evan.” Noel spoke up, her voice sarcastically exasperated. “I mean, look at us. I’m 0332, Ali’s 0331. If you’re the 2, then there’s gotta be a 1. Weird though, I’d just assumed whatever sibling you had was dead or something.”
Alister looked over at Evan, chuckling. “It would be cool if we both had sisters,” he said quietly, still worried that he’d be bothering Evan just by talking to him.
Emery looked over the screen, giving Evan a generous smile. “Would you like me to find Arden 0631’s file to get more information on them?”

Kali moved over to him well she was gonna help him up but when he moved to get up on his own she moved back to her original position, looking anywhere but at him.
She was about to ask if he was okay before he made that last comment.
"i did not get that flustered." She looked away from him with a huff, "We will not speak about that."
She said firmly as she looked away from him, she didn't even know she could get that flustered.
Or even get flustered, she had never before so why was now different?

He chuckled. “You literally fainted, but okay. Let’s keep going.”

she looked at him before back at malachi.

"ah- right. sorry, noel." Whenever evans nervous he tends to go back to some o fhis old habbits, like apologizing a lot.
"Yeah, it would be nice to know i have family out there biologicaly related that might not hate me." he smiles softly, putting a hand on his neck.
He looked back at Emery, "Could that? that would be great."
Trent just watched and listen to the whole thing, not having much input.
Matteo went back to holding alisters hand.

"No need to apologize," Noel replied. "You're good."
Alister found himself staring at Evan's smile, even as Matteo held his hand. Then he worried he was making him uncomfortable again and quickly looked away. "Oh, you have relatives who hate you, too? Hah, guess we really are soulmates."
Emery gave him a thumbs-up and went to work. Charlie spoke up.
Alright, we know where Malachi is, thanks to you, Emery. August, do you want to take the search party up to the Grey Woods now, or…?"
"Yeah." August stood. "It might be a bad idea to wait any longer. And don't worry Evan, Emery will have information for you when we get back."
Vixen, who had been silently eating and observing this entire time, stood as well.

"J-just Quin is good.." Then he frowned and his brow furrowed. "That's horrible. Do you know why?"

"Quin." He regarded the boy thoughtfully. "That's a nice name. I'm Malachi, and this is mon ami, Arden."
Then he frowned and his brow furrowed. "That's horrible. Do you know why?"

He shook his head, "I d-dont know why…" He looked down at his hands before back at malachi. "it's n-nice to meet you m-malachi.." he smiled slightly at knowing both kalis name and just for malachi.
"And k-kali."
"nice to meet you too kid." She gave him gentle headpats, though internally was mostly confused.
