Sam laughed some, dishing out the macaroni evenly.
"Here you go." Sam smiled, grabbing his own bowl to head out to the living room.
"You didn't peak, did you?"
Sam laughed some, dishing out the macaroni evenly.
"Here you go." Sam smiled, grabbing his own bowl to head out to the living room.
"You didn't peak, did you?"
"Thank you!" Karia sang, grabbing the remaining bowl and following Sam out. "Of course I didn't," He said, giving Sam a little pout. "I'm better than that." Karia managed to hold the pout for about two more seconds before he burst out laughing. "Besides, it destroys the whole suspense of the game."
"Mhm… You'd be surprised how many people prefer to cheat." Then again, people were more prone to it when their freedom and lives depended on it. Oh well.
Sam sat down, taking a bite of his food as he picked up his deck.
"Yeah. They just don't know how to have fun." Karia shook his head and sat down as well. He put a big spoonful of mac and cheese into his mouth and picked up his cards as well. "Mmm… yah!" Karia slapped down a card and winced. That wasn't such a good card.
Sam chuckled some around his mouthful of food, flipping out his own card with a bit less gusto. He hummed even though it was lower, conceding the card.
"Mm, looks like Lady Luck's finally back on your side." Sam laughed, picking his bowl up a moment to take another bite.
"Good, good. I hope it will continue!" Karia took both of the cards into his pile and flipped over the next card. "You've done a really good job of mixing together powdered cheese and milk." He laughed and ate another bite.
Sam laughed himself.
"I'm glad you think so. The secret is the milk." He hummed some, flipping over his next card and claiming the round. He'd finished his own food, a silent but quick eater.
"Hmm, I'll have to try that next time." Karia nodded, grinning even though he lost. "It really makes it extra tasty." He hadn't finished but was closing in on the bottom of the bowl. Karia flipped over his next card and gasped. "An ace! Finally!"
"Nice," Sam complimented, flipping out his five. "It's done you good." He laughed some as he set his bowl to the side, legs folding underneath him.
"Oh, are you kidding me? Why couldn't that have been a king?" Karia complained, taking the almost-useless card into his own pile. "Terrible." He sighed and took a big bite of mac and cheese to console himself. "This had better be better." Karia flipped over a card, lips pursed.
"Mm, for me, perhaps," Sam said, flipping his card and taking Karia's. "And hey, a card's a card in the end, we have no idea how this is going to go." The man hummed, fixing his ever-growing second pile.
"Oh, come on!" Karia sighed, shaking his head in disappointment. "True, true. It might get pitted against your worst card, and then it wouldn't be so bad." Karia glanced at Sam's growing pile of cards. "But, you are looking like the most favorable for winning at the moment."
"Yes, I am," Sam agreed, "But this game can turn in a moment on me. Who knows, you've still got a fighting chance." The man chuckled as they continued with the game, legs folded under him.
"A fighting chance that's dwindling every time I put down a card," Karia laughed, putting down his next card. "Ah, maybe this is my fighting chance? If you put down anything higher than a queen I'm going to be so sad."
"Well, it's a good thing it's not, then." Sam didn't mind giving up a number card, laughing a bit.
"Mm…" He laughed again, arms folding.
"Oh, thank you. Thank you. Now just keep doing that, alright?" Karia scooped the last of his mac and cheese into his mouth and set the bowl to the side. "Keep doing it until you have no cards, preferably." He laughed.
Sam laughed in turn, flipping his next card out. Both of their decks were running low, the first round coming to a close.
"You wish," he teased, looking at his larger second deck.
"I do wish." Karia flipped over his own card and grinned. "And wishes can come true." He reached over and claimed his victory. "Another one?" Karia flipped over his next card, eyes hopeful.
"Sorry, no dice." Sam laughed as he flipped his card, snagging Karia's and setting it neatly in his pile.
"Wishes can only take one so far, after all."
"Hmm, I suppose you're right." Karia shook his head. He glanced between his sad little pile and Sam's towering pile of cards. "Still… Card gods, please gift me the rest of his cards." Karia laughed a little and flipped over one of his last cards.
Sam flipped over his last card, smirking.
"Well, it was the rest of that pile," he noted, laughing some as he gave the card over.
"Alright, alright." Karia nodded. "Now the other pile." He smirked and shuffled his tiny pile of cards won. It would be a tough thing to come back from such a devastating point, but he would do it.
Sam shuffled as well, taking a bit longer so he could make sure it was actually mixed up well at such a large size.
"Mm, this game might be faster than we expected," he said with a laugh.
"Unfortunately… yes. My luck let me down today." Karia shook his head, smiling a little. "But you never know. You might eat those words later." He laid down his card.
"Mm, I might have, if I hadn't had so much food just now." Sam laughed as he flipped his card over, taking Karia's. He smirked some, flipping out a low card and obviously not caring.
"Oh, stars." Karia burst out laughing, actually falling back. At that moment, he didn't care about losing the card. "Sam, you are the best." He pushed himself back into a sitting position and flipped over a card. It was low as well but slightly higher than Sam's. "Oh, joy."
Sam felt a small blush coming to his face when Karia said he was the best, quickly squashing it. No, no, he wasn't going to do that.
"Well, we're even so far with wins and losses," he pointed out. "That's encouraging some." He flipped out his next card, smiling slightly.
"Mmm, yes, but those last cards are most likely going to be useless. Yours more than mine." Karia smirked and put down a card. "And, of course, we simply can't be forgetting the fact that you took most of my cards last round." He sighed dramatically. "I need to absolutely crush you in this round if I'm to have a chance."
"Well, I think this is all gonna go my way~!" Sam chuckled some, flipping his card and taking them. "Well, this is going come out for me!" He hummed, patting his large pile of cards.
Karia sighed dramatically and brushed some hair out of his eyes. "Stars, it seems to be that way. What kind of luck do you have?"
