Raphael nodded. "Most likely. It's not like they went to get lunch or something. They barely even eat. Just when they're on Earth for a small period of time. So are you going to barge into the meeting room, and interrogate the ones who are there, or?" He asked, actually curious about something for the first time in his life.
"Obviously not. Christ. We investigate the personal offices first. I guess since you're holy or whatever, you haven't done any breaking and entering. Lead the way, Raphael." Orion gestured ahead of her.
Adeline laughed. "You have no idea what he's capable of doing. Getting drunk and almost causing the destruction of a small town in Scotland doesn't sound so holy does it Raph?"
Raphael shrugged as he leads the girls to the first office. "Is that why I wasn't allowed to go onto Earth for a decade? Because honestly, I don't remember that event."
"Adeline, you go through drawers. Computer?" Orion asked Raphael.
Adeline nodded as she opened the drawers and went through the files. Raphael cracked his knuckles and sat down. "Step aside, O. I've learned how to hack into computers. So I can unlock it and stuff." He turned on the computer and pressed nine keys on the keyboard, and then the screen was unlocked. Adeline stopped looking at the files, looked at Raphael, and let out a giggle. "That's not hacking." "We're in Gabriel's office. His password is quite obvious. Well, obvious to the people who know him." He stood up and stood near the door.
"Never call me O again," Orion said, looking through the drawers opposite Adeline.
"I'll think about it," Raphael said with a laugh. Adeline took another file and looked through it. "What exactly are you looking for, Orion?"
"Um. . . Incriminating evidence. Anything that suggests collaboration for an attack on someone, or a murder weapon." Orion licked her finger and kept rifling through the papers in the drawers.
"Oh, so something like this?" She said as she took out some papers from the file. They were photos of texts between Gabriel and a demon. She put them down on the table and inspected them. "It doesn't explicitly state that they were working together, but it is suggesting a kidnapping."
"Yes. Good. Keep looking." Orion kept digging in the drawers. "That'll be interesting later."
Adeline nodded as she flipped through the files. After a while, she put them down and sat down on the chair. "They must've scattered the evidence to different Archangels and Demons Or they've burnt it all. They're not stupid, Orion." She said with a sigh as she tapped the desk in a rhythm.
"And I'm not either. Do you have any idea how long I've been planning this? There's always going to be a wrench in the works or a hitch in the machine, and there isn't anything I can do about it. For now, I have to keep looking, and keep finding things, just to keep from going insane, alright? If you don't want to help you can leave," Orion said sharply.
Adeline looked up at Orion and mumbled something under her breath. Raphael stayed quiet and looked at Adeline, curious about what her next step would be. Adeline stood up and smiled politely. "Well, it's clear you don't want me here. And you two have everything under control." She walked to the door, and gently pushed Raphael out of the way. She opened the door and exited, and then slammed the door shut. Raphael flinched when the door closed, and he edged himself away from the door. "Well, that just happened…" Raphael said softly.
"Well, are you going to help me, Raphael?" Orion asked harshly, gripping the edge of the desk until her knuckles turned white. "You know what? Leave. Go. I can do it myself."
Raphael didn't move from his spot. "I'm not going to leave. Because the moment I do, Heaven knows what you're going to do. Plus you have the risk of one of the archangels discovering you." He glanced at the door and sighed a bit. "She'll come back. She just needs to cool down."
She dug back into the drawers, ignoring a papercut on her hand, dripping dark blood on the creamy white paper. "I cannot stand her. I can't. I might just kill her."
"She couldn't stand you when you guys first met, so I guess the feeling is mutual?" Raphael said carefully with a slight shrug. "Er should I check in the other offices while you check here?"
"Go ahead," she said flatly, letting the papers she bled on flutter to the floor. "Tell Adeline that she has to get to work or I'll murder her."
"Aye aye, Captain!" He responded with a laugh as he carefully left the office, trying to not bring any attention to himself. As he walked down the aisle, he heard a small thud coming from Micheal's office. But he ignored it. He went into another office and started looking for something that would help…until he heard another thud coming from Micheal's office. This time it was significantly louder than the first one. He sighed and peeked out of the office he was in. "Adeline? Is that you?" He asked. When he got no response he fearfully looked at the meeting room at the end of the floor. "Orion, you heard that right?" He said, hoping she would be able to hear him from the room she was in.
She peered out of the room, looking up and down the hallway. "Sure did. Do you know what it was?" She flicked her wrist and her knife slid into her hand. "I have a bad feeling."
"Adeline, maybe?" He asked. Another loud thud was heard and then muffled screaming. "Oh for Heaven sakes, don't tell me she got caught. That's not what we needed right now. Addy, why do you have to cause trouble wherever you go?" He sighed and carefully made his way to the office. He opened the door and looked inside.
"Why how lovely of you to join us, Raphael." A female voice said.
He grimaced and looked around the room. He smelled a demon….someone else than Orion. Another demon was inside heaven. "Micheal. Why do you have Adeline tied up?"
Orion followed, but stayed slightly behind, the hilt of her knife grasped tightly in her hand. Raphael was going to have to do the talking, at least for a little while.
"Adeline here was snooping around my office," Micheal said with a frown. Raphael sighed and rubbed his eyes. He sent a glance to Adeline, who in return struggled in the chair. "You of all people know I don't like people shopping around my–" She trailed off as she looked around. "Who else is with you, Rapheal? Because I smell evil…"
Orion tried to be quiet, pulling her second knife out of the sheath on her calf. She stepped backward and slightly to the left, to get a better glimpse of Michael, but then slipped back into the shadows.
