At the last moment, Brink decided to switch out the clothes, not that there was anything wrong with the ones Finn had given him, save for the size but brink liked oversized clothes, but he wanted something a bit warmer. He stood at the threshold of what assumed was Finn’s room, looking inside. If felt wrong to go into his room, mostly die to privacy and mostly because brink realized he didn’t know Finn all that well besides being a hero. He took a few steps on, reminding himself that he only wanted to find clothes. As he glanced around the room, he noticed flyers lying around for various colleges, letters of recommendations, envelopes for what assumed were for applications, and a computer. It hit brink that not only did he not know Finn all that well, but that he had sacrificed his precious time to be a hero. Brink took a deep breath and went over to the dresser. “My hero, you deserve so much more.” He murmured to himself, finding a simple sweater and sweatpants. Leaving the bedroom, he padded to the bathroom and started the shower, just staying under the warm water for a good 45 minutes, making sure his hair was washed out and his wounds were thoroughly cleaned. Once finally done, he pulled on the still oversized clothes And went downstairs. He smiled softly at Poppy and Finn before bouncing to the kitchen to grabbing a small cookie. He came back to the living room and settled in his usual corner of the couch.
Incredibles was playing on the tv. It was already close to the end. Finn was pretty invested barely noticing that Poppy was leaning on him asleep. He tried his best to think about the movie instead of all of his worries. Not sure When Brink walked in he shifted Poppy carefully off of him. letting her relax against the armrest. He'll bring her to her room in a few minutes. "Find everything okay?" He asked lamely. His voice low. "I should probably change your bandages." He suggested. (sorry for short responses lately might be writing these in class)
(Nah it’s okay! I’m doing the same XD)
Brink hadn’t seen many movies as a kid, never was really into the hero thing either, as his life choices could clearly reflect, though he was always intrigued by abilities for some reason. He glanced over at Finn and nodded “yep, thank you for letting me borrow them.” He whispered, glancing down at Poppy and smiling. He flicked his gaze up to Finn a smile, the glow from the tv in an otherwise dark room highlighted something of Brinks more feminine features as well as his tattoos “you’re really insistent on doing that, aren’t you darling.” He laughed softly and shook husband head “you can if you want, I’m not opposed, though they’re looking alright now, less bruising at least. I have you to thank for that, dear.”
Finn smiled but blushed lightly. "Well, that sounds good," He said standing up. He scooped Poppy into his arms. Holding her close slightly. She shifted slightly. "I'm going to put her to bed but if you want we can stay out here for a bit after. Talk watch a movie or something." He brought Poppy to her room. Putting her in her bead before walking back into the living room. he had grabbed his laptop. He hoped to be able to get some work done. He left the laptop on the couch. "Want something to drink?" He asked walking to the kitchen.
Brink nodded and smiled “sure, that sounds nice.” He said softly, watching as Finn brought Poppy to bed. He started looking for something else to watch while Finn was busy with Poppy, settling on a cute animated move about a princess and talking animals? He honestly didn’t know what the heck he wasn’t watching but it looked interesting enough. “No thanks, I’m good.” He said, watching as Finn went to the kitchen.
Finn nodded grabbing a coke and walking over to the couch. He sat down next to Brink relaxing. Closing his eyes for a second before stretching. He saw the movie Brink chose and smiled. "I like this one," he said. He's pretty sure he's seen almost every kids movie known to man. He was looking over at Brink now. Smiling softly at him. "Want to talk about today?"
He tilted his head innocently and smiled sweetly. “Today? Remind once more dearest, what exactly what happened today. Some details seem to be escaping me. I do recall bringing you along on a little tour of my little home, you attempted the hoops, very well might I add.” His smile got wider. “Then we eventually made it back here after a few errands and had dinner. And now we’re here. I feel like I’m missing a few points though.”
Finn tried to hold back a smile. instead, he rolled his eyes. "you mean you somehow forgot?" he asked. Tilting his head as well. Well if you insist I'm talking about this." He tilted his head and leaned forward giving Brink a chaste kiss. "Is your memory working now?" He asked innocently smiling softly. He put a hand over Brinks. He folded his legs. His smile slowly growing as he cant hold it back.
He laughed softly and touched his lips with a smile. “Small flashes now are coming back, yes” he murmured, sighing softly and gently lacing their hands together loosely, feeling each and every point where they touched. “Are you sure you want this Finn?” He asked softly, remembering how fast Finn had pulled away the first time they had kissed. “I’m a danger you and your family. I’m not saying I’d hurt any of you but the people I know wouldn’t be so keen on losing me to a hero. They’d come after you, Willow, and Poppy. I don’t want that to happen.” He said, growing nervous again at the possibility of them being hurt because of him
Finn thought for a moment still holding Brink's hand. 'I wasn't before. I didn't fully trust you. Not yet. but now? Now I know that you won't do anything to hurt us. Don't worry about anyone else I handle them," He said kissing Brink softly on the forehead. He holds back when using his powers. Scared of draining himself or actually hurting someone. He knew that he wouldn't be able to hold back though if someone came after poppy willow or now Brink. He would protect them even if it killed him in the process. "I'm sure Brink. Are you?"
“Finn they’re not all like the ones in the alleyway. They won’t care who they hurt.” He said, growing a bit more desperate. “Promise me, if they come you’ll let them take me and keep Poppy, Willow and yourself safe, please.” He gazed up at him, bright green eyes wide pleading.
He took a deep breath and gently squeezed their interlaced hands “No darling hero, I’m not sure. But I want to make this work. I want to be sure of this.” He flicked his gaze up again. “I’m sure of wanting to love you. I’m just not sure about how long I’ll Be able to stay.”
Finn blinked thinking for a moment. "I- I can't promise that Brink. I will promise though that I will do anything to keep my family safe. But I'm going to also protect you. Please let me," He squeezed Brink's hand back. Eyes never moving from Brink's face. "I also want to remind you that I am a recognized superhero. By one newspaper but still." He tried to lighten the mood smiling slightly trying to catch Brink's eyes. "My point is you don't have to worry about me. It's my job to keep everyone see."
He sighed softly, a small genuine smile twitching at his lips at Finns attempt at a joke. “You are a hero, dear. No matter who or who doesn’t recognize you.” He replied softly. He was still uneasy about this but he wanted so desperately to love someone. He knew he couldn’t keep them all safe but if Finn was willing to do so for his family as well him, then he’d make sure to do the same. He took another breath, letting his smile widen on his features. “And whoever said I needed protecting, hm dearest?” He asked, raising his gaze to hold Finn’s and leaning in a bit.
Finn smiled. He leaned forward. "Oh no, you don't need any saving. Definitely never saved you before," He said smirking still leaning in. He brought his hand up and cupped Brink's cheek. connecting their lips softly. He smirked slightly as he pulled away. He turned away slightly and yawned. Moving his hand from Brink's cheeks to around Brink. Pulling him in. "Let's relax. We can worry about everything else tomorrow."
Brink chuckled, his attention going to Finn's lips before they met his eyes again “you’ve save me more than you know.” He murmured, closing his eyes and leaning into Finn’s hand as he caressed his cheek then into the kiss, savoring every brush of his lips. He stiffened slightly wen pulled in, having never really been this close to Finn other then in hostile confrontation or when he was unfortunately unconscious. He slowly settled against Finn’s side, taking his time to get comfortable before resting his head on Finn’s chest. He relaxed completely and nodded with a small smile. “Tomorrow or never, whichever ones easiest.”
Finn smiled. Leaning his head on Brink's shoulder. "We'll have to worry at one point but hopefully that won't be any time soon." He pulled his laptop to his lap and opened it. "I got some work to do but I still want to catch the movie," He said smiling softly. He opened one of his many half-finished college applications.
He nodded and nuzzled gently against him. He glanced down at the laptop, curious as to what Finn was doing. “Thought you said you watched this movie already.” He said softly, going back and forth between the computer screen and the movie
"I have but i still want to watch it with you," Finn said looking over and kissing Brink's cheek. He was mainly looking at his screen but he laughed at the movie when it made jokes and kept his head on Brink's shoulder. He took on periods between short bursts of typing. Thinking hard about what he could say.
“Oh! Alright.” Brink blushed lightly and smiled at the kiss. He decided to focus mostly on the screen, curious as to what Finn had chosen and just the over process of going through college. He assumed this portion was the more tedious and annoying part but it was still interesting to Brink. His attention was averted each time Finn looked up at the movie or shifted, still amazed that he was this close to him. He slowly reached up and ran his hand through Finn’s hair, combing gently through the tangles and snags.
Finn smiled when he felt Brink's fingers in his hand. Nuzzling Brinks shoulder slightly. He relaxed. Hands pausing on the keyboard as his mind forgot about the application. His eyes closed. Thinking about nothing but Brink playing with his hair as he slowly doused off. Head still heavy on Brink's shoulder. He looked more relaxed in his sleep. His forehead free was worry line and breathing steady.
“Oh you gorgeous creature, you’re not allowed to do this to me.” He murmured softly, gently pulling the computer away and making sure to save what Finn had done. “Forgive me for distracting you, I know how important this is for you.” He whispered, pressing kiss to Finn’s brow. He shifted around slightly so that Finn rested on his chest and pulled a blanket down from the back of the couch to cover them both. “Sleep well my hero.” He murmured, resting his head on the arm of the couch.
Finn had wrapped an arm around Brink as he slept on top of him. The next morning Finn slept like a rock. Still wrapped around Brink. He usually doesn't sleep this much or this deeply. It was still early in the morning but Finn should be up soon. Poppy was already stirring awake in her bedroom and would be wondering out fr breakfast any time now. Finn snored softly.
It was a miracle If Brink slept all, like Finn he didn’t really sleep much if at all at night due to his insomnia and night terrors, but now he found himself sound asleep, Finn’s breathing matched his own, his features soft and peaceful in his slumber. Brink started to wake around morning, having always been an early bird the few times he did sleep. He had always enjoyed waking up with the sun, loving the way it gave the city warmth that he rarely experienced from anything or anyone else. Though today he did have someone. He slowly blinked awake but remained as still as possible, not wanting to disturb Finn just yet. He smiled softly and gently brushed aside stray hair that had fallen to Finn’s features. He started to lightly trace his features, fingers brushing along the bridge of his nose, his eyelashes, his lips, and his jawline, something he had wanted to do ever since he had met his hero. “It’s a crime to be this beautiful, darling.”
After a few moments, Finn slowly woke up. Confused by the unfamiliar position but then he realized he was lying on Brink. He smiled up at him and kissed him gently right before Poppy came running in. she looked surprisingly energetic for 8 am.
"Eww kissing!" She giggled jumping onto the chair near the couch. Finn laughed slightly and shook his head as he sat up.
"oh stop it what do you want for breakfast?" He asked standing up stretching.
Brink kissed back with a smile, resting his hand on Finn’s cheek. “Good morning to you too dear.” He murmured before glancing at Poppy and laugh. “Wait until you get a boyfriend or girlfriend one day if your brother ever lets you. You won’t say ew then when you kiss them.” Brink arched his back in a stretch, trying to loosen the tension in his shoulders and wounded sides. He sat up and ran a hand through his hair “I’m assuming you’re still hyped on the cookie from yesterday, huh?” He laughed again and stood to go to the bathroom and wash up before breakfast
Finn smiled at their interaction. "Hey don't worry no kissing for you," Finn said picking Poppy up and spinning her slightly. She giggled. He put her down and then went into the kitchen starting up on breakfast. He made oatmeal with all kinds of toppings. Setting up a bowl for Poppy, Brink, and then himself. Sitting down next to where Poppy already sat.
Brink took a short shower and replaced his bandages, not as well as Finn had done but decent enough that it covered the bruising. He switched into his clothes, having brought some from his home when he went with Finn. Nothing too complex, a black shirt with checkered skinny jeans and a jacket. He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his green hair before heading downstairs and joining the two for breakfast.
Finn smiled when he saw Brink enter. He gestured at his bowl. "There's all different toppings on the counter since I wasn't sure how you like it." Poppy was smiling wide.
"Brink can I ask you something?" She asked leaning on the table. Finn looked down at Poppy confused and sort of concerned for what Poppy was about to say. She, like most children, Doesn't have a filter.
Brink slid in the seat and smiled gratefully at Finn. “Thank you dear.” He glanced around at the table and decided on cinnamon, nuts and a bit fruit for toppings on the oatmeal. He glanced up at Poppy, mid bite and nodded, chewing through the bite. “Sure, princess, what’s up?” He asked, not as worried as Finn, but also trying to prepare himself for anything she could say since she did see him and Finn sleeping together on the couch that morning
"Are you and Finn boyfriends?" She asked. Finn nearly choked on his oatmeal. Laughing slightly. He wasn't sure how to respond. Mouth open like he's about to say something but nothing came out. He looked over at Brink trying not to give a reaction. He wasn't sure about the answer, to be honest. Well, he does know that he wants them to be. He wants to say yes.
