Finn smiled. Leaning his head on Brink's shoulder. "We'll have to worry at one point but hopefully that won't be any time soon." He pulled his laptop to his lap and opened it. "I got some work to do but I still want to catch the movie," He said smiling softly. He opened one of his many half-finished college applications.
He nodded and nuzzled gently against him. He glanced down at the laptop, curious as to what Finn was doing. “Thought you said you watched this movie already.” He said softly, going back and forth between the computer screen and the movie
"I have but i still want to watch it with you," Finn said looking over and kissing Brink's cheek. He was mainly looking at his screen but he laughed at the movie when it made jokes and kept his head on Brink's shoulder. He took on periods between short bursts of typing. Thinking hard about what he could say.
“Oh! Alright.” Brink blushed lightly and smiled at the kiss. He decided to focus mostly on the screen, curious as to what Finn had chosen and just the over process of going through college. He assumed this portion was the more tedious and annoying part but it was still interesting to Brink. His attention was averted each time Finn looked up at the movie or shifted, still amazed that he was this close to him. He slowly reached up and ran his hand through Finn’s hair, combing gently through the tangles and snags.
Finn smiled when he felt Brink's fingers in his hand. Nuzzling Brinks shoulder slightly. He relaxed. Hands pausing on the keyboard as his mind forgot about the application. His eyes closed. Thinking about nothing but Brink playing with his hair as he slowly doused off. Head still heavy on Brink's shoulder. He looked more relaxed in his sleep. His forehead free was worry line and breathing steady.
“Oh you gorgeous creature, you’re not allowed to do this to me.” He murmured softly, gently pulling the computer away and making sure to save what Finn had done. “Forgive me for distracting you, I know how important this is for you.” He whispered, pressing kiss to Finn’s brow. He shifted around slightly so that Finn rested on his chest and pulled a blanket down from the back of the couch to cover them both. “Sleep well my hero.” He murmured, resting his head on the arm of the couch.
Finn had wrapped an arm around Brink as he slept on top of him. The next morning Finn slept like a rock. Still wrapped around Brink. He usually doesn't sleep this much or this deeply. It was still early in the morning but Finn should be up soon. Poppy was already stirring awake in her bedroom and would be wondering out fr breakfast any time now. Finn snored softly.
It was a miracle If Brink slept all, like Finn he didn’t really sleep much if at all at night due to his insomnia and night terrors, but now he found himself sound asleep, Finn’s breathing matched his own, his features soft and peaceful in his slumber. Brink started to wake around morning, having always been an early bird the few times he did sleep. He had always enjoyed waking up with the sun, loving the way it gave the city warmth that he rarely experienced from anything or anyone else. Though today he did have someone. He slowly blinked awake but remained as still as possible, not wanting to disturb Finn just yet. He smiled softly and gently brushed aside stray hair that had fallen to Finn’s features. He started to lightly trace his features, fingers brushing along the bridge of his nose, his eyelashes, his lips, and his jawline, something he had wanted to do ever since he had met his hero. “It’s a crime to be this beautiful, darling.”
After a few moments, Finn slowly woke up. Confused by the unfamiliar position but then he realized he was lying on Brink. He smiled up at him and kissed him gently right before Poppy came running in. she looked surprisingly energetic for 8 am.
"Eww kissing!" She giggled jumping onto the chair near the couch. Finn laughed slightly and shook his head as he sat up.
"oh stop it what do you want for breakfast?" He asked standing up stretching.
Brink kissed back with a smile, resting his hand on Finn’s cheek. “Good morning to you too dear.” He murmured before glancing at Poppy and laugh. “Wait until you get a boyfriend or girlfriend one day if your brother ever lets you. You won’t say ew then when you kiss them.” Brink arched his back in a stretch, trying to loosen the tension in his shoulders and wounded sides. He sat up and ran a hand through his hair “I’m assuming you’re still hyped on the cookie from yesterday, huh?” He laughed again and stood to go to the bathroom and wash up before breakfast
Finn smiled at their interaction. "Hey don't worry no kissing for you," Finn said picking Poppy up and spinning her slightly. She giggled. He put her down and then went into the kitchen starting up on breakfast. He made oatmeal with all kinds of toppings. Setting up a bowl for Poppy, Brink, and then himself. Sitting down next to where Poppy already sat.
Brink took a short shower and replaced his bandages, not as well as Finn had done but decent enough that it covered the bruising. He switched into his clothes, having brought some from his home when he went with Finn. Nothing too complex, a black shirt with checkered skinny jeans and a jacket. He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his green hair before heading downstairs and joining the two for breakfast.
Finn smiled when he saw Brink enter. He gestured at his bowl. "There's all different toppings on the counter since I wasn't sure how you like it." Poppy was smiling wide.
"Brink can I ask you something?" She asked leaning on the table. Finn looked down at Poppy confused and sort of concerned for what Poppy was about to say. She, like most children, Doesn't have a filter.
Brink slid in the seat and smiled gratefully at Finn. “Thank you dear.” He glanced around at the table and decided on cinnamon, nuts and a bit fruit for toppings on the oatmeal. He glanced up at Poppy, mid bite and nodded, chewing through the bite. “Sure, princess, what’s up?” He asked, not as worried as Finn, but also trying to prepare himself for anything she could say since she did see him and Finn sleeping together on the couch that morning
"Are you and Finn boyfriends?" She asked. Finn nearly choked on his oatmeal. Laughing slightly. He wasn't sure how to respond. Mouth open like he's about to say something but nothing came out. He looked over at Brink trying not to give a reaction. He wasn't sure about the answer, to be honest. Well, he does know that he wants them to be. He wants to say yes.
Brink laughed softly at Finn’s reaction, finding it cute that he was flustered. He didn’t really know either, though calling them boyfriends seemed right but also odd at the same time. Brink did want to be Finn’s boyfriend but there were thing so he was still unsure about. He thought back to the previous night, how comfortable he felt with Finn and how that was a true moment of pure happiness, to be that close to someone he liked without having to explain or apologies for anything. He took a deep breath, took a peek at Finn who he just noticed was watching him, then at Poppy and nodded slowly. “Yeah, I think we are. We still have things to work out but I really do like your brother. A lot.”
Finn smiled at Brinks's response nodding. Poppy also nodded looking satisfied with the answer she received. "Good. You be nice to him," She said glaring slightly at Brink. Tryin to look intimidating but failing miserably. She then smiled and started eating her breakfast. Finn couldn't hold in his laughter anymore and started chuckling. He ate his breakfast. Finishing after a few minutes. Poppy popped up once she was all done. She had quite a lot of sugar on her pourage. Finn just couldn't say no to her sometimes. She seemed slightly hyper.
“I will, I promise.” He said, raising his hands in innocence. “You can do whatever you want to me if ever break that promise. Spread the word to Willow as well.” He said, absolutely serious about what he meant but still trying to keep a light tone. He offered a smile, Poppy’s energetic mood this morning infectious. He stood once done with the oatmeal and washed it on the sink, not bothering to use the dishwasher since it was only a few dishes.
Popp nodded. "Will do," She said before running down the hall. Finn was too busy holding in another laugh to scold her for running. He stood behind Brink and kissed his cheek. "You don't have to do that." He said resting his chin on Brink's shoulder. "The dishes or the promise." He clarified.
Brink glanced up at Finn and gently nudging his head affectionately “the dishes, maybe not but it feels good to do something other than just sit around while everyone around you moves.” He dried his hands once done with the dishes and gently ran and hand through Finn’s hair like The night before. “As for the promise, yes I do. I want what’s between us to work Finn. I want to be held accountable for what I do to you, especially if it harms you in any way.” He dropped his voice in case Poppy was still around. “I know I’m not a good person, I’ve killed and tortured people before. I’m used to the criminal world. Trying to make an actual living with someone I love is going’s to be hard, especially since I won’t be able to immediately separate myself from my upbringing. If I at any point hurt you during this without ever being told I did…I’d…” He shook his head “I don’t know what I’d do.”
Finn nodded. He felt his stomach turning thinking of someone hurting brink but he tried to calm down. Getting angry always only led to his powers acting up. "I know all of that Brink. We'll figure this out together. The same goes for me okay?" He said lifting his head and looking at Brink. "I haven't dated anyone in a while and even that wasn't the best relationship on both sides. So if I do anything at all that hurts you pushes you please let me know." He smiled softly. "Speaking of which though. I'm surprised Poppy caught on. I know we weren't exactly subtle but I've never brought any of my exes home before. I sometimes underestimate her."
He sighed softly and nodded, knowing he’d most likely have a hard time with getting used relying on Finn. “I’ll try my hero, I will.” He offered a small smile and gave a small kiss on the cheek “really? The girl knows more than she’s letting not on.” He laughed softly and shook his head “she’s old enough to understand. I think it would be wise to let her in on more important things. She’ll find out eventually.” He said, glancing over his shoulder at Finn. “She’s know about your abilities? Or that you’re a hero?”
(sorry im away for the week so I'm going to be a bit slow)
Finn shook his head. "No. You and willow are actually the only ones that know. I-" He paused taking Brinks hand. "I don't think I can yet. There's a chance she could also have well abilities. I'm not sure yet though. She still has about a year." He shook his head. "So I think I'm going to wait to see."
(It’s okay! Hope you’re having a great holiday break!)
Brink turned in place and gently stroked the back of his hand with his thumb. He found it interesting that the family of an ability weilder could also possess abilities as well though it did make sense. He watched Finn, brows creased in worry as he voiced his concerns. He reached up with his free hand and gently cupped his cheek “Alright, waiting does seem logical but she’s young. I suggest telling her soon than waiting until later.” He said, offering an encouraging smile. “You have time dear, don’t worry.”
Finn nodded. "I know I should and I will just not now," He said standing up straight. "I'm going on patrol tonight." He brought Brinks hand up and kissed the back lightly. "Willow's going to come to watch Poppy. She doesn't have school today though so Poppy will be here all day. I promised her I'd bring her to the park."
