Finn shook his head and picked him up bridal style. "My place is close. I have some medical supplies." Poppy's at daycare and Willows out. It should be fine. He told himself. "I don't think he's coming back anytime soon. Who was that guy anyway?" He looked down at him as he walked out of the alleyway. Luckily there weren't many people in the streets and the few that were tries their best to just ignore them.
He winced in pain and tried to protest, his words coming out incoherent. Reluctantly, Brink relaxed into the hero’s hold and sighed softly, shaking his head slightly and waving his hand, dismissing the question for now. “Later…” He murmured, eyes fluttering slightly, trying get his best not to black out again. The city, despite being relatively quiet for the time of day was too bright and loud, any small amount of noise was extremely loud to his ears.
Finn looked down at him. "Try your best not to fall asleep. You defiantly got a concussion from that." he walked up to a tall building. It looked slightly n the fancier side compared to the other apartment buildings in the city. He walked inside grateful that the lobby was empty. It was usually pretty empty but with his luck, he thought today would be the day it would be crowded. He got onto the Elevator hitting the top floor.
“Mhm,” Brink replied, leaning his head on the other’s chest, trying his best to block out every small noise he heard, from the elevator doors opening to the mechanic shop of the elevator as they rose higher into what Brink assumed was an apartment building. From the small clear glimpses he could see, Brink immediately next knee they were in the highrise part of town, somewhere he usually tried to avoid most of the time. “So this isn’t where you live.” He mused softly with a wavering smile
Finn didn't answer right away. When the elevator doors opened they revealed a large living room. Finn walked over and set Brink on the couch. "I'll go get some stuff to patch you up. After that, I have a guest room you can stay in for now." He smiled softly dusting himself off as he stood straighter. There were large windows covering one wall of the apartment. He left the room for a moment and came back with a medical kid and a glass of water. Handing Brink a bottle of pain killers and the glass. "Take that. IT's going to take a bit to kick in but it should help."
Brink looked around the room like a kid in a candy shop. Despite his spitting headache as well as the rest of the injuries he had, he had enough energy to marvel at the large space. He settled at the end of the couch, curling up tightly so that most of The couch was open. He never really had felt comfortable in a strangers house, always getting paranoid for some reason, though the hero wasn’t really a stranger, the house was and so were his true intentions. What Igbo he was a hero to the world but someone completely different when alone?
He glared at the pain killer and water before slowly taking them, gulping down the water and shivering slightly. “Thanks.” He muttered softly, looking at the room and slowly rocking back and forth in his spot, trying to cal his nerves, the realization that he would have died that day if Finn hadn’t shown up now really hitting him. “Not only for this…for what you didn’t back there…” he added on
Finn nodded. "It's no problem.. Saving people is kind of my thing," He said half-joking. He smiled and sat at the other end of the couch. Opening his emergency medical kit. A lot of the supplies were almost gone but he had enough to bandage Brink up. He took out some alcohol pads. "This might sting a bit but don't worry I'll put some cream on it after that'll help." He moves closer to Brink going to clean the wound on his face.
Brink leaned away slightly when the hero made an attempt to clean his wounds. “Who are you? And why, of all people did you help me, hm?” He asked slowly, straightening in his spot and glaring at him. “And don’t give me that hero crap. Not even the best of hero’s would save a guy like me. Why did you?”
Finn his hands away and bit his lip. "sorry I should have actually introduced myself since secrecy doesn't really matter now. I'm Finn." He put his hands on his lap. Fidgetting with the alcohol pad. He shrugged. "I don't really know why I'm helping you but I can so if you let me I will. Don't really know what 'a guy like me' is supposed to mean you've helped me before and I think everyone is worth saving." He sounded cheesy and knew it.
Brink tilted his head slightly when the hero told him his name. “Finn,” he repeated, smiling softly and nodding.
“Consider yourself lucky. Those moments come rarely.” He relaxed slightly and relaxed back into the couch. “Be careful, darlin. Not everyone you help is worth it.” He murmured softly, nodding to the cotton swab before shutting his eyes, waiting patiently
Finn nodded He brought the alcohol pad to Brinks wounds. taking cream and bandages out of the medial kit. "Everyone is worth helping," He repeated. He applied some antibiotic and painkilling cream on the cut. Right before a bandage. moved on to checking other wounds. "Anything feel broken?"
Brink leaned gently into the touch. It still hurt like hell but he found that he was willing to endure the pain, if only Finn would continue touching him. After a while of silence he opened his eyes and shrugged “everything, but I’m sure you don’t want to deal with the rest of me.” He said with a teasing wink. “Plus I should get going anyways.” He tried to stand but immediately sat back down with a small hiss of pain. He blinked back a few tears, not allowing himself to look weak in front of Finn. “Once the pain killers set in at least.”
"You should stay here for now. "Maybe move to the guest room once you feel good enough to move. I'm definitely not letting you leave here until you are all healed up." Finn got up and left the living room for a moment. Coming back with an ice pack. He handed it to Brink and move on to another cut he noticed on Brink's arm.
Brink reluctantly gave Finn a small nod an direction relaxed into the couch once again. “In any other circumstance, I’d take that as a threat, dear hero.” He said, a small smile playing at his lips. He tried his best not to twitch or move around so much as Finn worked to clean the rest of his wounds. His tolerance for long amounts of pain were never great. He hated to suffer. He would much rather die a quick death than suffer through hours of torture, on the edge of death but not quite dead yet.
Finn finished bandaging him up. smiling softly. "Okay, I think I got everything. You should relax for a little bit," He stood up and handed Brink the remote to the large tv in front of him. "Here you can put something on if you want I'll be in the kitchen. No one else should be home for at least another hour."
Brink tilted his head slightly, accepting the remote. “I don’t really watch much.” He said softly, slightly embarrassed. He flipped through a few channels before he stopped on a cooking showing, having always liked food shows whenever he did get the chance to watch tv. “Ok.thanks again.” He said softly, curling up on the couch and tentatively watching the show
Finn smiled at how sweet Brink looked when relaxed He walked into the kitchen and started preparing dinner. He also called and warned willow of the situation. She said she'd pick up Poppy which will work out well. Finn came back out into the living room after putting dinner in the oven. He went to sit down but the elevator doors opened and in ran a little girl who went straight to Finn and hugged him. He picked her up smiling.
Brink jumped at the sound of the elevator, and carefully watched as the young girl came running in. He smiled softly as the two interacted, finding it oddly cute. Brink had always liked kids since they never really judged him for what he did. Plus there were plenty if street kids where he was fun so it always sort of felt like a family to him. He remained quiet as the the girl hugged her brother, not wanting to disturb the moment.
Finn put Poppy down after a moment. Looking up at willow. "Willow Poppy this is Brink. He's going to stay here until he feels a little better. Brink this is my sister Poppy and friend will." He gestured to them as he talked. Willow was a little shorter than Finn but still taller than Brink. She looked at him carefully.
"Nice to meet you," she said sitting down in a chair in the lining room. Poppy didn't say anything hiding behind finn slightly.
He watched as Willow into the room as well, shifting uncomfortably under her gaze. “nice to meet you as well.” He murmured in reply with a small nod, hugging his knees to his chest, despite that hurting more. He rested his head on his knees and smiled softly at the little girl behind Finn but didn’t say anything to her. He understood that he was a complete intruder to Finn and the girl’s home. He wasn’t about to make it any more awkward like acting as if he had any right to be there. Instead of trying to engage with them more, he sat quietly on the couch and watched more of the show, seeing that it had switched to a baking completion now.
Finn smiled at Brink. "Food should be ready on. I'll be in the kitchen." Finn left the room. Poppy sat down on the other end of the couch from Brink. She looked at him curiously.
"You have a lot of booboos." She commented. Hugging a little doll she had in her hand. She fidgeted slightly in her seat.
Brink glanced over and smiled softly, “I’m not the most graceful person.” He lied, not wanting to ruin her innocence with what really happened to him. “What’s her name?” He asked, nodding to the little doll in the young girl’s hand. He gave a quick glance over Willow, hoping he wouldn’t upset her by talking to the young girl.
Poppy laughed slightly. "Finn's clumsy too," she whispered. "her names Ava." She held the doll closer. Willow looked more relaxed than before. Looking at the tv but watching them from the corner of her eye. Finn came back a few moments later.
"So the food should be ready soon." He leaned on the doorframe leading into the kitchen.
He laughed softly when Poppy mentioned Finn being clumsy, remembering the way he had entered the building the first time they met.
“That’s a beautiful name.” He said, his soft smile still there. He glanced over his shoulder as Finn announced the food would be ready and nodded, breathing in the aroma from the kitchen. He turned back to the tv and nudged the remote to poppy in case she wanted to watch something different
Poppy blushed and smiled. "Thank you!" she took the remote but didn't change the channel. She watched the cooking channel. "Finn likes this show! He's going to be on one day. right, Finn?" She looked over at her brother. Finn smiled from the doorway watching the two interact.
"Hopefully," Finn said laughing slightly. He walked back into the kitchen and came out with two bowls of macaroni. Willow got up and helped him. Getting another two bowls. One is small and for Poppy. Finn handed Brink a bowl.
Brink thought that was cute, that hero like Finn still wanted to have a normal life, still had normal dreams, despite him being the hero of the city.
He picked his head up from where it rested on his knees, eyes growing wide as he saw that there was macaroni for dinner. He nodded and smiled gratefully, shifting around so that he sat cross legged on the couch, still leaving a significant amount of space. He took a small bite of food and hummed happily, thinking that this was the best food he had had in ages.
Finn smiled and sat next to Brink. He watched the looking show and crossed his legs. Willow finished her food first.
"Alright i got to go but It was nice meeting you brink and Finn I'm guessing you won't need me tonight?"
"No, I think I'm going to stay in tonight." He smiled at will. "Drive safe." Willow waved them him off as she walked to the elevator.
Brink smiled as Finn sat beside him and waved at Willow as she left, also wishing her a safe night. He finished off the meal and went to slowly stand, resting his ability to move, even with the wounds. He hissed softly but managed to get up. He took the dish to the sink and started to wash the dishes, wanting to do something other than sit around and let everyone else, mostly Finn, feel as if he needed to be taken care of constantly.
"I don't think that is a good idea," Finn said coming up behind Brink. Closer than what was comfortable but he didn't even notice. Putting Poppy and his bowls in the sink. "I'll show you the guest room you should relax. I can do the dishes later after I put poppy to bed. there's an ensuite bathroom in the guest room if you want to shower."
Brink glanced behind him, blushing softly at seeing Finn so close, especially since he was much shorter than him, forcing him to look up at him. “Dear, I don’t have many good ideas. So I can confidently tell you that doing the dishes doesn’t even crack the top three bad ideas I’ve acted upon.” He took a deep breath to calm his racing heart and turned back to doing the dishes. “I will once I finish, don’t worry about me, darlin. And thank you. Really. For everything.”
