"Alright. And if you ever get lost, you could ask someone for directions. And, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, find a connecting hall and keep walking down it. It'll bring you either to the diner or the third hall, depending on which way you go." Ash looked down at Laura with a small smile, happy she was doing so well adapting to this new place. He knew it could get scary. More people filed out into the halls, and Ash did his best to make sure Laura had her space from them.
Laura gave him a little smile in return, seemingly ignoring anyone they passed. There were too many people for her to try to hide from, so she just pretended they weren't there for now. Later on, when she was feeling up to it, she would try to be a little more… polite.
"Yes sir, I can do that… is there anywhere I can't, or shouldn't go?" Laura asked softly, keeping her gaze up on him as they walked. She trusted that he could lead them through the hall.
"Well, all I would really say is don't go into people's time without at least knocking. There isn't anywhere that's really off limits, I can assure." Ash glanced at Laura, leading her down the hall.
"Is there anywhere else you want to see, any rooms in particular you want to know where exactly they are?"
Laura shook her head a bit, her hair bouncing off her shoulders.
"No sir. I know where everything is, that I might need. I can figure out anything else on my own." She hummed a bit, gently swinging their arms together. "Thank you again, sir. It was very kind of you to show me around."
"You're welcome, Ms. Laura." Ash smiled as Laura swung their hands.
"So, do you think you're ready to get ready for the day? I can lead you back to your room, if you like." He was glad Laura was doing so well.
"Yes sir, if that's okay." Laura hummed softly, still smiling a bit.
"Would I still be allowed to take a shower? And if so, could you help me get a towel to dry off with?"
"Yes, you're more than welcome to still take a shower. And I'd be more than happy to help you get a towel. Do you want to stop by your room first?" Ash was already leading Laura to the farthest hall, knowing there would be open bathrooms there.
"What would I need from my room?" Laura asked confused, following after him as they walked. She must have missed something, or he thought she had something that she didn't. She had run off with nothing but she was wearing, knowing she would be caught if she tried to sneak back inside.
"Well," Ash said, "every room has extra clothes in them, in a lot of sizes. I'm sure there's something in there for you to change into." Ash led Laura towards her room, passing a bathroom on the way.
"But we can have you take a shower first if you want."
"There are?" Laura hummed, noting they were headed to her room. If that was true, she would probably want to grab some before showering. They were already headed that way, it seemed silly not to grab something.
"Could I grab stuff from my room, then?"
"Yes, you must certainly can." Ash continued with Laura to her room, opening the door and stepping to the side.
"Do you want me to wait out here? Or come in to help with finding the clothes?"
Laura gave him a little smile, pulling him along with her.
"I'd like some help, if you don't mind. I'm not sure where everything would be." She admitted in a soft tone, starting to loosen her hold on his hand.
Ash smiled lightly.
"Alright. Here, something in your size should be in here." Ash knelt down by the drawers, pulling one open. Inside was an assortment of children's clothing, with some of everything.
"What's something that you see that you like?" He asked.
Laura peered over his shoulder, kneeling down next to him to look through the drawer. After a minute or so of looking, she pulled a soft pair of olive green shorts out of the drawer, along with a darker grey sweater.
"Is this alright?" Laura asked softly, running her hand over the fabric.
The fabric was nice and soft, and smelled like it had just been washed and put away.
"It's perfect," Ash said with a small smile. He slid the dresser shut.
"Ready for a shower now?" He offered his hand to her again.
Laura nodded a bit, standing up and taking his hand once more.
"Yes sir." She hummed, resisting the urge to ask if it was alright. She knew it was fine- as she had probably asked a dozen times by now. But she really just wanted to make sure.
Ash stood, moving out of the room with Laura and towards the free bathroom.
"I'll get you your towel down," he said. "Is there anything else you need help with? I'm more than willing to if you need it."
"No sir, thank you, though." Laura smiled softly, holding the bundle of clothes to her chest.
She kept up to him, letting him lead her down the hall. "Will I be able to find you after I shower?"
"Yes," Ash said. He opened the door to the bathroom, stepping in. It was quite spacious, really. He went to the cabinet, pulling out a fluffy towel for Laura.
"I'll be in my room getting ready for the day. It's labeled, and right next to yours."
Laura nodded a bit, giving him a soft smile.
"And I won't be bothering you, if I come find you?" She asked in a soft tone, keeping the bundle close. "Because I can stay in my room, if you need space."
"You wouldn't be bothering me at all," Ash assured. He set the towel down, giving Laura a gentle smile.
"You can come to me whenever you need to. It would bother me if I find it you needed help but didn't come to me, or anyone for it."
(I'm so sorry I wasn't on much today. Just as a heads up, these next couple of days are going to be the same. Especially this Friday.)
"You're sure? I really don't want to be in your way…" Laura mumbled a little, walking up to where he had set the towel. She dropped the small stack of clothes on top, glancing over to him.
"You do work here, after all… right?"
(Ah, okay!)
"I do. But helping you is more important then that." Ash let out a soft breath.
"It's fine, Ms. Laura."
Laura nodded a little, letting out a soft sigh. "Alright… I'm sorry I keep asking… I just want to make sure…"
She glanced up at him, tucking her hair back out of her face. Though it didn't do much as it fell right back in front of her face.
"You can ask as much as you need to too feel okay," Ash said. He gently smiled.
"I'll give you some privacy to get your shower, okay? You should be able to reach anything you need. And if you need me, I'll be in my room," he said one last time, moving to the door.
"Yes sir, thank you." Laura smiled softly, standing there in the middle of the bathroom.
"I'll… I'll come get you when I'm done." She mumbled a little. "Or, um… just let you know I'm done. Whatever you're okay with."
"You can come get me," Ash confirmed. He stepped out now, smiling softly as he cooked the door. He made his way to the room, getting ready to change.
Laura showered rather quickly, and had changed into her clothes. Her hair was still drippy wet, but she had the towel over her shoulders to try and catch the water. Quietly she came up to his door, knocking on it softly.
"Sir? Are you still in there?"
After a moment, Ash opened the door. He was in simple jeans and a t shirt, since he wasn't working today.
"I'm here," he said with a smile. "Do you need some help with your hair?" He glanced at her wet hair, still smiling gently.
“Huh?” Laura asked confused, tucking it back behind her ear.
“Oh- to dry it? Um… if- if you wouldn’t mind. That would probably be a smart idea.”
