Laura nodded a little, pulling her head back a little. She gave him a soft look, tucking her hair back out of her face.
"Yes sir, that's fine." She replied, giving a little smile.
"Would I need to sit in the back? Or… um, can I sit up there?"
Ash thought a moment.
"You can sit up front," he finally said, "with a booster seat. We need to be at least a little cautious." He gave a gentle smile, moving to the back of the large van to pull out a seat for Laura. The van was… Very big. At least fifteen seater.
"Yes sir." Laura replied softly, attempting to reach the door when she was set down. But not being tall enough, or strong enough, she couldn't get her door open.
"Um… how do I get in?"
Ash came back with the booster seat under one arm, giving a soft sigh.
"Here, I'll get it." He smiled a bit, opening the door for Laura. He set the seat down, securing it for Laura.
"Do you need some help in?" He offered.
"Ummm… maybe?" Laura stated softly, glancing up to him.
"I'm sorry for causing so much trouble… are you sure I'm not bugging you, sir?" She asked softly, letting him help her up into the front seat. She seated herself, glancing over to him.
Ash buckled Laura in, nodding his head.
"You're not at all, Ms. Laura, I promise. You're not causing any trouble at all, either." He gave her a smile, making sure she was completely in before shutting the door. He moved to the driver's seat, sitting down and closing his own door.
Laura nodded softly, adjusting in her seat. This was honestly really weird for her.
"I really don't want to be… I'm sorry I keep asking. I just… I wanna make sure." Laura mumbled softly, playing with her hair a little as she sat there.
Ash started up the car, nodding a bit.
"I understand. And you can ask as much as you need to to feel okay about this." He gave her a soft smile, then looked back to the road. He pulled out, the radio playing softly as they headed through the city.
"So, is there anything in particular you like to wear? If I knew, then I could figure which store to go to first." He gave her a smile, keeping his eyes on the road.
Laura flicked her gaze over to him, trying to think about it. Which was a lot harder than she had thought.
"I… I don't know. Um… I like what I'm wearing?" She offered weakly, glancing down to the clothes she had on. It was true, she did like what she was wearing, but she mostly said it because she had no idea what she did like.
"Is… is that helpful?"
"Yes, it is." Ash glanced at Laura, smiling still. He continued driving, ears moving a little. His tail was laid across his lap, the tip flicking. He brought them to a Walmart. Thankfully, there weren't many cars, and the store was large enough that they wouldn't have to deal with other people.
Laura glanced around the parking lot, reaching over and unbuckling herself. She had been watching his tail flick, seeming quite interested until they pulled to an official stop.
"Is this the store?" She asked softly, realizing she should have asked that first.
"Yes, this is the store." Ash unbuckled, turning the van off before stepping out. He moved around, opening Laura's door for her with a smile. His tail flicked a bit again, the entire tail moving now. It did look quite soft…
Laura glanced up at him, giving a sweet little smile. After climbing out, she hesitantly reached out a hand to hold his.
"Where do we go in, at?" She asked softly, following after him to the building up ahead.
Ash locked the van, slipping the keys in his pocket.
"We go in over there," Ash said, pointing to the doors. They weren't too far away, and there didn't seem to be anyone else. He started walking, keeping slower for Laura.
Laura glanced to where he had pointed, and nodded a bit.
"Alright, sir…" She replied softly, trying her best not to slow him down. She was walking as quickly as she could, hoping not to be annoying him.
Ash glanced at Laura, rubbing her hands a little. His tail flicked a bit, accidently brushing against her. They arrived at the door, which slid open for them. He hummed softly, still holding Laura's hand.
Laura followed behind rather closely, glancing at their hands when he started rubbing it. She didn't mind it, just found it a little surprising.
"Where do we go, sir?" Laura asked softly, looking up to his face.
"Well, first is the clothing section. Then, if you'd like, we could go look okay some toys and other things?" Ash smiled, leading Laura towards the youth girl's section. He looked over the clothes there, looking to Laura.
Laura nodded softly, hesitantly looking around at the clothes.
"Alright, sir. If… if you're sure." She mumbled softly, seeming to try and be cautious as she looked through the clothes.
The clothes were all mostly bright pinks and other colors, very targeted towards little girls. There was no one else there, thankfully. Ash stayed by Laura's side, almost a bit… protective? He didn't want Laura to be worried as they shopped.
"Can I just… pick what I like?" Laura asked softly, flicking her gaze up to him as she found things she liked. Though she didn't pick anything up, not sure if she was allowed to, or not.
Ash nodded.
"Yes, anything you like. You'll need plenty, so don't worry about how much your grabbing. When you've got some we can go have you try them on."
Laura sighed softly, nodding in return.
"Yes sir." She replied simply, hesitantly pulling one or two things off the racks. Both were softer colored t-shirts, not much different from what she was wearing.
Ash watched Laura pick out her outfits.
"I can carry them for you," he offered with a small smile.
"Are… are you sure?" Laura asked softly, holding up the few items she held.
"Because… I don't mind… carrying them, I mean." She mumbled a little, kicking at the ground.
