“I see him,” Alex muttered, trying to keep a hold of himself and not make a scene, “I won’t let him hurt you, I promise.” He tucked Beau under his arm, for the angels own protection and so Alex knew he could protect him. Sadly he knew the other demon and lets just say they weren’t the best of friends.
Beau nodded and sat close next to Alex at one of the tables, quietly sipping his coffee and stealing nervous glances at the other demon. He never stopped staring at him, and at one point Beau noticed he had a knife and got even more anxious. "A-Alex…" He whispered. "He… h-he's armed.."
Alex nodded a little. His fingers twitched slightly, ready for an attack if one arose, “Bastard. Should have known he’d pull a stunt like this at some point,” He sipped his tea, “He’s not gonna get within ten feet of you and if he does I’ll kill him. Damn the consequences.”
"M-Maybe… maybe we should just go…" Beau's breathing was noticeably quicker by now, and he stayed very close to Alex at all times. Sure, he'd learned how to use a bow years ago, but he pretty much forgot, and he also never carried any weapons if he could help it. The demon pulled out the knife and glared at Beau, which made him flinch and cower even more under Alex's arm.
A low growl was ripped frown Alex, directed towards the other demon. His horns were noticeable now but he didn’t care. He was more focused on protecting Beau and not starting a fight in the shop, “Yeah. Let’s go.” He stood up, making sure Beau was right against him and protected before leading him out the shop.
Beau ran along with Alex, clinging tightly to his arm. They got into the car and Beau never let go of Alex's hand, watching the coffee shop window to see whether the other demon would follow them. He stared at them through the window, but luckily didn't follow them out. "W-Why was he looking at me like that?" Beau asked shakily. "Do you… do you know him?"
“Unfortunately,” Alex replied, glaring daggers at the other demon. He knew he had to calm himself, for Beau’s sake and he took a minute to do so, “His name is Jax. He’s always wanted to one up me, be better then me and always wanted what’s mine. You are the perfect opportunity for him to get back at me for all the shit I did to him.”
"O-Oh… I hope he stays in there…" Beau suddenly started holding his breath as he looked at Jax, and held it for a few seconds before hugging Alex tightly. "T-That was so scary… when I… w-when I saw he had a knife I-I got really scared and I… I thought he was gonna try to h-hurt me… or you…" He seemed to almost be holding back tears at this point, tightening his hold on Alex.
Alex gently pulled Beau into his lap. He shushed him softly, tracing light circles on his back to help clam him down, “I know, I know but he’s not going to hurt you. Not now not ever, I promise you. I don’t care if I get hurt protecting you as that’s my job now… as your boyfriend.”
"Mmm…" Beau hugged Alex's neck, hiding his face in the crook of one elbow. I wish that hadn't shaken me up so much… at least he doesn't seem to think I'm stupid. A lot of demons do kill angels, so I should be scared, right? "I-I like the sound of that… 'b-boyfriend'…"
Alex smiled softly, reacting his circles higher then back down again, “I’m glad you do. I am yours and you are mine, kitten.”
"Mhmm… dunno exactly how demons claim things, b-but I'd say you probably did this morning." Beau smiled a bit, red rising to his cheeks for the umpteenth time. He was glad that his face was hidden for now.
Alex chuckled, kissing the top of Beau’s head, “Oh yeah, I definitely claimed you this morning.” He gave his butt a small squeeze before moving his hand away and onto his back again.
Beau nodded, feeling his face grow even hotter. "As nice as this is, we should probably get back to the house… h-hopefully Jax doesn't know where you live. He looked over his shoulder nervously, but he didn't see Jax. Huh… weird. I don't know if I should be worried or no- "Oh my god! A-Alex!" Beau turned to see that Jax was at the passenger side's window looking pissed.
Alex growled, slipping out the car and placing Beau back on the drivers seat. He slammed the door shut, cursing, “The fuck do you want Jax?” He snarled, prepping for a fight.
"I want to make your life hell like you did mine." Jax grinned sadistically, twirling his knife. "N-No! Don't hurt him! Please!" Beau cried out from inside the car, unable to get out. "Hmph. I thought hurting your little boyfriend a bit might help. Not much of a fighter, is he?" Jax scoffed, baring his sharp teeth at Beau to scare him.
(He succeeded lmao)
“Leave him outta this,” Alex clenched his hands at his sides, “Do whatever you want to me but leave him alone. For the record, you deserved what I did to you. I get we’re demons but there’s no need to kill so many innocent humans for nothing.”
"Oh, alright." Jax sighed in almost a bored way. "I haven't really got much time, so I'll go easy on you this time." He grabbed the collar of Alex's shirt and pulled him close, all the while with Beau's muffled screams to stop from the car, and he slowly cut into Alex's cheek with his knife. After he finished doing this, he let Alex go and held the knife to his throat. "Consider yourself lucky, asshole." He said quietly before just walking away. "Alex! Oh my god! A-Alex!" Beau beat on the car window, shaking and crying by this point.
“Fuck off Jax.” Alex muttered to his retreating figure. He flipped him off too before he winced at the pain in his cheek. He opened the car door Beau was beating at, already moving to hug him and calm the other down, hopefully to stop him crying, too.
Beau sobbed into Alex's shoulder, hugging him as tight as he could. "O-Oh my god… oh my god…" He whispered shakily. "I-I can't believe h-he'd do something like that…" Beau was shaking, and he couldn't bring himself to look up to even check and make sure Jax had left.
Alex sighed a little, shushing him with soft ‘It’s okay. He’s gone now. You’re alright’’s He held Beau close, feeling horrible that he’d had to witness that and Jax being a complete asshole.
"I-I know I'm okay, b-but what about you?! He c… c-cut you…" Beau shuddered and buried his face into Alex's shirt. "And t-there was nothing I c-could do to help… t-the doors locked a-and I couldn't get out!"
“I’ve gone through far worse then a small cut to cheek, Beau. And from people far worse then him,” Alex replied, placing a hand on the back of his head, “I’m glad the door locked. If it didn’t he would have hurt you and I never want to see that happen.”
"B-But he hurt you…" Beau kept his arms around Alex's neck as though he were afraid he'd get hurt again ('as though' lmao he's just actually scared). He was really trying to calm down, but he wasn't doing a particularly good job. He dried up some of his tears with his sleeve, but they kept coming. "T-This is all m-my fault… I shouldn't have suggested we leave… t-this never would've happened if w-we just stayed home.."
“Don’t you dare think that this is your fault,” Alex frowned a little, resting a hand on Beau’s cheek before gently kissing away the tears that were falling. He placed another soft kiss to his lips afterwards, “Jax would have found another opportunity at some point. Better now then later. Come on, let’s go and watch some movie, yeah? We can put on our pj’s and cuddle.”
