Derlik let out a breath, turning to leave.
"Coming?" he asked gently of Nik.
Derlik let out a breath, turning to leave.
"Coming?" he asked gently of Nik.
Nik hesitated for a moment, then nodded, moving to follow Derlik.
Derlik ran his fingers through his hair, letting out a breath as he led Nik back.
"Want anything to eat?"
Nik shook his head a little. "No. I'm not hungry."
"Okay, then…" Derlik sat down, crossing his legs.
Nik sat down on the boulder again, closing his eyes.
Derlik held back a sigh. Right back to the awkward silence, then.
(timeskip?)
Nik let out a faint breath, peeking over at Derlik for a moment.
(Yeah. to that night?)
Derlik wasn't looking at Nik, thinking to himself over something.
(yeah)
Nik eventually looked away again, closing his eyes.
Derlik, that night, was content to sleep curled up on the other side of the boulder, facing Nik. While he wouldn't force the man to snuggle anymore, they both still had to sleep on the boulder.
Nik fell asleep curled up into a ball, facing away from Derlik with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders.
Derlik fell asleep easily enough, a soft snore coming out. His hands were up by his pocket, pressing against it and Arthur.
After a while, Nik curled up tighter, a faint whimper escaping his throat as he was dragged down into a nightmare.
Derlik shifted some in his sleep, not waking up yet. There wasn't anything to do it, besides, Nik's whimper much too faint.
Nik started to twitch and shift around, a sob eventually making its way from his mouth as he curled up even tighter, trying to protect himself from things that only existed in his head. "N-no, no, no, please…" the words were mumbled but tense, painful.
That's when Derlik finally woke up. He opened his eyes, looking over.
"Nik," The god said gently, moving over. "Nik, wake up."
He was shaking his head faintly, body curled impossibly tight and tense, shaking and trembling and crying quietly.
"Nik," Derlik said again. "Nik, you need to wake up." Derlik reached over, carefully shaking the man.
Nik flinched, but woke up after a moment, eyes flashing open wide as he stared at Derlik.
"It was a dream, Nik," Derlik said softly. "Nothing's happening, I promise."
Nik was still trembling, tears on his lashes and in his eyes. He nodded faintly. He knew it was a dream, but that didn't make it any better.
Derlik gently reached out, a hand going to Nik's cheek.
Nik stiffened faintly, looking up at him and trying to blink the tears away.
"I'm not going to hurt you," Derlik promised softly. "No one is."
