Nik jumped a little, looking down at her with worried eyes.

Twili shook her head a bit. She set Smoke down on her lap, pulling out her board.
He won't be back for a while, she wrote. You have time.

"Where…where is he?" He asked quietly.

Twili erased her board, writing.
He's blowing off steam. He takes his time with that…

He wondered what exactly that entailed. What Derlik was doing to blow off steam. But he didn't really want to ask.

Twili set her board down, relaxing against Nik's leg.

He looked down at her, letting out a faint breath.

Twili patted Nik's leg lightly. He'd be okay- if Derlik was blowing off steam without actually doing it with Nik, he really was trying to not hurt the man.

Nik tried to smile, but it was wobbly and faint, disappearing again after a moment.

Twili's smile turned sad. She knew just how much Derlik could hurt someone, even if he truly didn't mean to. Still, she didn't try to say any of this to Nik- he'd been hurt, and it was Derlik's fault.

Smoke mewed quietly, squirming a little in her arms. Nik remained silent.

Twili looked down when Smoke mewed, lightly patting his head and scratching down his back.

Smoke purred, arching up into her hands.

Twili smiled lightly, holding Smoke up a bit to nuzzle him with her nose.

Smoke kept purring softly.

Twili lightly nipped at Smoke playfully, cuckling a bit.

Smoke mewed faintly, narrowing his eyes.

Twili smiled innocently at Smoke, wiggling her fingers at his a bit.

Smoke mewed again, nipping at her fingers.

Twili let out a silent laugh, keeping her fingers just out of Smoke's reach.

Smoke nipped at her fingers again.

Twili looked up at Nik as she was playing with Smoke, letting her fingers get too close.

Nik watched quietly. Smoke nipped her fingers lightly.

Twili's mouth opened a bit, and she looked down at Smoke. She gave another silent laugh, letting the kitten naw on her fingers lightly before trying to pull them away.

Smoke growled faintly, wrapping his paws over her fingers in order to keep nipping at her fingertips.
