Smoke blinked in the fork, then clumsily took it in his fingers, seeming confused.

Derlik reached out, adjusting Smoke's hold on it.
"Silly kitty," he said gently, smiling.

Smoke wrinkled his nose a little bit, and then stabbed at the food, trying to figure out how to do this.

Derlik giggled a bit, taking Smoke's hand in his. He guided Smoke, helping him cut off a piece of the omelette.

Smoke peered up at him, wrinkling his nose a little bit, then licked the omelette piece from the fork.

Derlik ruffled Smoke's hair lightly.
"You'll get the hang of it."

Smoke hummed faintly, swallowing the food with a shrug.

Derlik smiled, picking his food up and starting to eat again.

Smoke kept jabbing at the food and licking it off the fork.

Derlik finished his food, glancing at Nik and Smoke with a grin.

Nik picked at his food silently, having only eaten about half of it. Smoke kept doing the same thing he had been doing, frowning a little.

Derlik turned to Nik first.
"You really should eat," he said. He then turned to Smoke.
"Do you need help again?"

Nik shrugged slightly. "Yeah, as if you care." He scoffed under his breath.
Smoke blinked, then shook his head. "Nope."

Derlik glaced at Nik, pressing his lips together.
"I wouldn't say anything if I didn't."

"Yeah, but you'll beat me, so it evens out." He retorted, shoulders curling inward a little bit.

Derlik turned towards Nik, making sure Smoke couldn't see the hard look on his face.
"If you say so."

Nik snorted faintly. "You're just like my dad, did you know that?" He said, not even sure why. "Same attitude. Same treatment."

"Ah." Derlik shrugged a little, next sentence soft. "Well, I'll love having you call me daddy one night."

Nik snorted. "No." He said sharply. "That's not happening."

"I can make you," he said softly, but then turned away. "But I must admit, I'm all talk and no bite. If never actually do that to you." The last sentence was said in disgust. "It really is a horrible thing. But that won't stop me from threatening it."

He looked up for a moment, then bit his lip slightly. "Oh. My dad never…did that, but…he did a lot of other things." his dad had never raped him, but…he'd faced a lot of abuse from his father. His father, who had never liked him. His father, who would rather have had no son at all than a half-black son instead of the white one he would have preferred.

"So will I," Derlik admitted softly. But, it wasn't all what Nik thought it would be like. He'd try to be nice, he really would. But it was the truth- he was going to eventually hurt Nik again.

"I know." he said simply, shrugging his shoulders. I'm used to it.

Derlik looked at Nik, the empty bowl Derlik had eaten from disappearing. He let out a soft hum.
"But I'll try not to."

He shrugged again, unsure if he believed Derlik. He didn't know if he did or not, but he didn't respond.
