"Mm… thanks…" Lin murmured softly in reply, seeming to relax a bit at that. "I'll try not to be so sensitive."
"Mm… thanks…" Lin murmured softly in reply, seeming to relax a bit at that. "I'll try not to be so sensitive."
"You aren't sensitive. I'm just a jerk. Defense mechanism."
"I mean, I'm probably a bit sensitive too since I'm pretty confused most of the time." Lin shrugged a bit. "But I digress."
"Not really. Compared to most people, you're about average. People just think I'm a bitch."
"Really? Huh…" Lin was quiet for a moment. "I should probably talk to more people. I don't have much to go on."
"Fair enough. Most people just get on my nerves."
"Yeah. I guess I don't, though? Most of the time, anyway?" He asked, fidgeting a bit with his hands again.
"You are right now," she said, swatting his hands. "Chill out."
"Sorry, sorry… habit…" Lin reluctantly stopped fidgeting and looked away, his cheeks lightly flushed. "Does it annoy you when I lose my train of thought and kinda just zone out for a while?"
"No. It's cute; I like it. It's endearing." She poked him. "And it's another reason I'm not letting you drive my car."
Lin flushed a bit and smiled sheepishly. "Yeah… and I don't know how, anyway. I know you don't like the fidgeting. Is there anything else I do that pisses you off?"
"No. Not as far as I know. Maybe you eat carrots every night at twelve am. That would piss me off."
"Hm… I like carrots, but I'm not usually awake at midnight. I prefer to get a good night's sleep." Lin smiled brightly.
"I don't like sleeping. At least during the night. Nighttime is much better than daytime."
"Mm. Nighttime is nice, yeah. There's nothing to do at night, though. Most places aren't open." Lin shrugged a bit.
"That's why it's nice. Not many people are out, the stars are in the sky." She curled her fingers in Lin's shirt.
"Yeah, I guess so… but what are you supposed to do at night? That's a whole lot of time to try and kill."
"It's just nice to be able to walk in parks and things without people bothering you."
"I guess." Lin shrugged again. "I've never really had any desire to walk in the park at night. You can't see anything."
"You need more Vitamin A. That's your problem."
"How do I get Vitamin A?" He asked curiously.
"Um. . . carrots, mostly. Which would explain eating them in the middle of the night."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense…" Lin hummed thoughtfully to himself. "I eat a fair amount of vegetables, though. Considering how little I eat in general, anyway."
"You should eat more. Probably. I don't know. How much are teen boys supposed to eat?"
"Probably more than I eat." Lin shrugged a bit. "I eat like, one meal a day tops."
"Yes. You need to eat more. I will make you eat more."
"Yeah, I'm sure we can pay for three full meals a day with all the money we don't have." He rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Shhh. I can get a job or something. Let me be the pessimist," she said. "I'm sure we'll figure something out."
"Honestly, I'm fine. I don't need to eat that much. I'm used to it." Lin smiled softly, hoping to be reassuring.
"That's not exactly a good thing, Lin," she said concernedly.
