"They'll call us and let us know if we got the job. We should probably go and apply for other ones, just in case this one falls through."
"They'll call us and let us know if we got the job. We should probably go and apply for other ones, just in case this one falls through."
"Alright. But what if they both call us?" Lin asked, confused. "We probably can't have two jobs…"
"Then we get to pick," Orion said.
"Wouldn't they be upset if we didn't pick them, though?" Lin asked nervously.
"No. I mean they might be a little disappointed, but they won't come after us with machine guns or anything."
Lin hummed thoughtfully. "I guess so… seems kinda rude to apply to a place and then say you aren't gonna work there, though."
"Eh. It's like an insurance policy or a safety net. I mean, it's just convenient."
"I guess that makes sense. So we should go looking for more places, then?"
"Sure," Orion said and got in the car. She turned it on and buckled her seatbelt.
Lin followed her to the car and got in as well. "Where else should we look?"
"Um. . . Any restaurant would be good," she offered. "I'll try and think of some more while we drive."
"Alright, sounds fine to me." Lin fidgeted a bit with his hands as he watched out the window.
“Keep an eye out,” she said mildly, reaching out to poke him fondly.
"I will, I will." Lin rolled his eyes and swatted her hand away gently, occasionally pointing out signs when he saw them.
"Lin? Do you like when I poke you? Or should I stop?"
Lin shrugged a bit. "Depends on my mood, I guess. Usually I'm pretty indifferent about it."
"Alright. Tell me if you hate it, okay?"
"Alright." Lin looked back out the window. "It's kind of weird driving around all the time, isn't it?"
"You think so? I like it. Gives me something other than my depressing home life to focus on."
Lin shrugged a bit. "It's just different, I guess. I mean, I was living in a treehouse, basically. Didn't exactly travel much."
"I get it. Yeah. My parents liked to keep me holed up. So I didn't really go to many places. I think it's nice to be going places on my own terms."
He nodded, humming thoughtfully. "I didn't travel much as a kid either, obviously. Maybe I'll like it, I dunno."
"It's cool to see different places. Puts everything in perspective," Orion said.
"Yeah, I guess so. Anywhere you particularly want to see?" He asked.
"I've always wanted to go see the American Revolution monuments in Boston."
