'I get it but..' She shook her head. 'Never mind.'
'I get it but..' She shook her head. 'Never mind.'
He hung up after the call and curled up not saying a word.
She hesitantly rubbed his back, trying, and most likely failing, to comfort him. "What are you feeling right now? You can say and do anything to get your feelings out."
He shook his head. He didn't want to bother her. "Maybe I should go home…I'm being annoying…"
"No you're not! You never have been annoying, I don't know why you think that you are. Alexander, you are literally free to stay here as long as you need to to get away from what's happening at home. Here you can express your feelings and have no one judge you for feeling that way. No one is going to have a go at you for being yourself here."
If only that were true for me.
"If you want to go home then fine, we will take you home, but I don't feel like you should be going back home while you still have all this pent up emotion.."
"T-True…God, I'm confused…"
"In what way?"
"I'm not even sure anymore."
"I'm sorry.." She paused for a moment. "It's alright to cry if you want.."
"Is crying even an option anymore?"
"Crying is always an option. It releases oxytocin and endorphins, which helps to relieve stress and improve the mood. It's healthy to cry."
"…I don't think I can…" He looks away.
"That's alright." She sighed gently. "You take as much time as you need to clear your head. If you want me to leave the room then I will, but just know that I am here for you if you need me."
"S-Stay…" He looked at her. "You're the only one can talk to…"
"Well talk to me then, Alex." Her eyes softened. "Nothing good will come from keeping it all in."
"…My dad hates Alexander…He just wants amy (the most wonderful woman in the world)…"
"He has made that very clear, but who is amy (the most wonderful woman in the world)?" She asked, trying to make a point, hoping that Alex knew what point she was trying to make.
"amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) is the person I was born as…But not who I want to be."
"The way I see it, you were never amy (the most wonderful woman in the world), you have always been Alexander." She shrugged slightly. "It is very clear that you are Alexander, and I know why your dad feels the way he does. But he is going to have to accept that you are not amy (the most wonderful woman in the world), and that you never were amy (the most wonderful woman in the world). He doesn't have to like it, but he should accept it and not drag you down with his feelings."
"I'd have you say that to him…But I don't want him hurting you…"
"He can't hurt me, I'm a tough cookie!" She waved her hand, almost dismissing Alex's words, although deep down she was secretly terrified of ever meeting his dad.
"No like…Physically…" he held his sides.
"Again, I'm a tough cookie!" she said reassuringly. "Perks of having Taekwondo lessons as a kid."
He still held his sides shaking.
She gently touched Alex's shoulder, frowning. "Has he hurt you before….?"
