Well done Leonie, you've broken him!!
She stood there, confused, unsure how to help the situation. "Uhm.. Would you prefer to return home? I can walk you if that's the case.. Sorry, I've made this really awkard haven't I?"
Well done Leonie, you've broken him!!
She stood there, confused, unsure how to help the situation. "Uhm.. Would you prefer to return home? I can walk you if that's the case.. Sorry, I've made this really awkard haven't I?"
"N-No…" he said. his voice breaking.
Her eyes softened, averting their gaze. You came across as too lively, too demanding.. He wants to get away from you, he just doesn't want to hurt your feelings.
"I-If I go home…M-My dad will yell at me…"
"Why will he yell at you?" she asked in alarm, turning to look at him with round eyes.
"…I walked out in the middle of an argument
"You removed yourself from an uncomfortable situation, there's nothing wrong with that. He's not that bad is he?"
"…You'd be surprised…"
"I see… Is there somewhere you can go while you wait for things to cool down? I'm sure all he needs is just to take a deep breath and calm down." she was grasping at air for ideas.
"No…I don't…"
"My doors are always open if you need them." She shrugged slightly, knowing it wasn't exactly the best thing to say at that moment. "If you're upset, or don't feel safe at home, you are always welcome at mine. My parents, or at least my dad, will understand."
"You sure?" He gave a sad grin.
"Yeah, I'm sure." She tried to pull a confident smile, despite how pained she felt to see Alexander upset. "Do you want me to ask my dad to pick us up?"
He nods slowly. "Early visit it is then."
Leonie nodded, pulling out her phone text her dad.
'Hey, things are a little complicated, do you think you could pick Alex and I up from town?'
'Sure thing kiddo, is everything alright?'
'He's scared to go home, it's a long story..'
'Just told your mum, I'm on my way. Wait for me on the main road.'
She put her phone away, smiling reassuringly to Alex. "He's on his way, everything will be fine."
"Thank you…"
Leonie led Alex out to the main road and waited as her dad's car rolled up. She carefully opened the backseat door and motioned for Alex to climb inside, following after him.
"Dad…." she hesitated. "This is Alex. Alex, this is my dad, Isaac."
Wow this is going to be awkward..
"H-Hi…I'm Alexander…Nice to meet you…"
"It's a pleasure to meet you too." Isaac replied, a gentle smile on his face. "I must say, you're better than what I expected."
"D-dad!" Leonie hissed nervously, reaching forward to gently slap her dad's shoulder. She turned back to Alex. "Don't pay attention to him, he comes out with some weird things at times."
He seemed out of it. "Understood…"
The rest of the ride was silent, until the car finally pulled up on the driveway. Isaac got out and turned to face them, speaking very calmly. "I'll give you two a moment, just come in whenever you're ready." and with that he closed the door.
Leonie turned to Alex, unsure of how he felt. "How are you feeling?"
He didn't answer. He was clearly lost in thought.
She sat there patiently, waiting until Alex was ready to talk. I do hope I haven't made him uncomfortable, that would just top the cake of mistakes I've made today!
He shook his head. "Sorry…What did you say?"
"Nothing, don't worry." she lied, smiling. "Are you alright to come inside?"
