She nodded, then shrugged, as she answered, "I like being here about as much as I like not being able to look outside. I really dislike it here besides seeing Sarah. She was my nurse, but I had to say goodbye to her too when they transferred me here." Davina was already itching to be up and moving around in the new room, building her puzzles or trying to get out of here and back to her other room. She didn't think the doctors would like that though, so she decided to stay put for as long as she could.

Apollo sighed, laying back on the bed. "It sucks being the only people with something incurable." He muttered, feeling his eyes overwhelm with tears. He just wanted to start his life over, and figure out what happened from the beginning. Find a new way about things, maybe a way he could avoid getting sick. But he couldn't. That was a stupid, irrational dream. And everyone he had told, said those exact words.

@gracehustle

"I understand that," She sighed, reaching over to her bag of things and pulling out a box, "I can't sit here any longer, I have to move." Davina tossed off the sheets and swung her legs off of the bed, happy that her sweatpants hid how thin she was. It took her a few seconds to stand up, but once she did and had adjusted her mask again she sat back down on an open space of floor with her box of puzzle pieces.

Apollo sat up to look at her. "What's that?"" He questioned, sliding off the bed himself, and quietly walking over to her. His ankles were barely supporting him, and they were so thin. He never had good luck with leg or arm muscles. But he didn't look that way, they were just never really strong. "Can I join you?" He mumbled, sitting down on the floor.

@gracehustle

"It's the one pastime I have that they still allow me to do." She pulled open the box and dumped out the pieces on the floor before propping the box up so they could see the picture of the sunset scene, "Yeah you can join, just don't get me sick." Davina couldn't help but crack a weak smile at her joke, glancing over at Apollo and starting to sort out the border pieces from the inside pieces.

Apollo snickered, looking up to his new roommate. "I wouldn't dream of it." He said in a teasing tone before adjusting some on the floor. He reached over, and began helping to set up the pieces on the outside, the 'frame'. "How long have you been sick with this for Davina?" He asked, a little formally but he was attempting to remember her name. He'd feel bad if he forgot it.

@gracehustle

Davina was happy that Apollo got the joke and she hoped it meant the two of them would at least get along while they were roommates of sort. "Probably on the verge of three weeks now," She said with a shrug, trying to think back to the day they had originally told her she was sick, "Two and just over a half weeks of pure boredom and doctors. What about you?" The border pieces were pretty easy to pick out and she made a pile of the other pieces off to the side, settling into the system of building.

He listened to her, smiling at her cool voice. He found it calming in a way. “I’ve been here only a few days. I only found out- oh I dunno three days ago.” He shrugged biting his lower lip trying to remember. “Or something like that, I’ve been to tired to keep count.” He shrugged, running a hand through his knotted curls. Apollo hadn’t brushed them in forever, mostly because they got all fluffy when he did. Never really caring for that aspect of his hair. He sighed resting his hand back into his lap after picking up a random piece and inspecting it throughly.

@gracehustle

"I've been trying to keep an accurate count. Gotta know how long since I last stepped outside," She said, her voice a little softer and with a hint of sadness. She wished she could go outside again, even if she wasn't able to see her family or friends, just breathing in outdoor air seemed like a wish that could never happen. Davina sorted through a few more pieces before she caught herself admiring his curly hair. It looked good on him, unlike her own curly lion's mane of hair that seemed out of place on her.

"I wasn't ever good at remembering dates and stuff." He shrugged, before crossing his legs. He looked like a little kid honestly, maybe just a little taller than most 9 year olds. Though he was 15, a highschooler. Speaking of which, he was missing classes the longer he was sick. It bothered him to no end. He had no contact with his friends, and his brain hurt from the fact he wasn't able to do anything. "Did you like school?"

@gracehustle

Davina shrugged, still fitting together pieces as she sorted through them, "I don't know. When I was in school I hated it, but now that I'm here I really miss it. School wasn't hard, just boring." She looked up at him, one leg propped up and the other laid out alongside the puzzle, "How about you?" She was sharing more information than she would normally share with anyone. It was something new and slightly shocked even herself.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I liked it, it kept my brain running." He shrugged again, setting the piece down. "And it bothers me so much that I'm not in there, learning." He muttered, rubbing his face and rocking back and forth. "I've already counted the tiles in here, and should've saved the math for later… that's how bad it is…" He admitted, tapping his fingers in the floor.

@gracehustle

"Read a book, if you can get your hands on one," She suggested, picking up a piece and turning it in her hand, "I'm sure they'll find some way to make you finish school in this place if you really want to." Davina looked over at him and set the piece down, smiling gently, "Please don't mention my name though, I don't really want to go back to school. Books would be great though."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I have a feeling they'll lecture us both if I mention learning." He frowned, knowing he wasn't going to ask. For her sake at least. He was a strange kid, that enjoyed learning, and didn't want to drag her along. "But I'll ask for books, I don't think they can deny me something as simple as books." He shrugged lightly, not knowing if they would let him have them or not. He hoped they would.

@gracehustle

“I mean, they denied me drawing supplies when I asked,” She said with a shrug. That was before she had met Sarah, the doctors had shot down her request without even leaving the room, saying everything from they would quicken the disease to she could use them to possibly harm herself. Davina glanced over at Apollo and smiled, shrugging again, “But there is a chance they will give us some books.”

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"We'll keep our fingers crossed." He smiled brightly, wanting to pull the mask down so she could see. He really liked books. They were one of his many favorite passtimes. "Do you have a favorite one?" He asked, reaching down to the puzzle once more and adjusting the pieces so they fit in their places. "Because I personally love anything mystery."

@gracehustle

She thought for a minute about his question, rolling a piece around in her hand and smiling when she came up with an answer. “I really like adventure books, fiction or nonfiction, just adventure in general.” Sitting over the puzzle was starting to make her back sore, something she was used to but not enjoying. She shifted around and soon was laying on her stomach, propping her head up on one hand and putting pieces in place with the other. “Mystery books sound fun, but I think I would rather listen to them be read than actually read them.”

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Apollo smiled at her laying on the floor. "If I get one, I can read it to you." Offering, he stood up and walked over to his bed to lay on it. He was already bored, so these next weeks, or months were going to be agonizing. He starred up at the ceiling and sighed over dramatically. "But I don't have to. I'm just offering what I can." He mumbled now, and his eyes fell closed as he kicked his legs back and forth.

@gracehustle

“I’ll take you up on that offer.” Davina agreed, nodding and pausing her puzzle building to mess with the mask on her face. “I hate this thing already, it’s gonna come off, disease spreading or no.” She said, pulling it off and tossing it on her bed dramatically while taking in a drawn out breath, “Much better, I can actually breath now.” She smiled to herself and turned back to her task after the dramatics though, going back to work quietly.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"They'll probably kill you." He rolled chuckled jokingly. "But I mean, this might kill us first. So why not risk it." He shrugged, pulling his own face mask off and tossing it aside. "Look at that!" He laughed, sucking in a deep breath. "I can breath again. Isn't that funny?"
It really wasn't, but that was besides the point. Getting to feel the 'fresh' air on the lower half of his face. "Man, I missed being able to breath properly."

@gracehustle

"At this point it's just a race as to what is more detwrmined to kill us," She joked lightly, taking in another deep breath and nodding in agreement, "It's amazing to finally breath properly, and especially this crisp hospital air." Davian smiled and looked over at Apollo, happy that she could see him smile if he did. Just getting rid of that mask made it feel a little less restricted and hospital like in the room.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Apollo looked to her, chuckling. "Yes, the smell of Lysol and bleach is rather pleasing." Honestly, it actually was at this moment. The fact he could smell something besides his own breath and-or cotton was a miracle in itself. "But I mean, at least we can smell it, am I right?" Apollo shrugged before falling back onto the firm and thin sheets.

@gracehustle

“That true, for once the smell of the hospital and chemicals isn’t a terrible thing. That’s also something I wouldn’t ever thing I would find myself saying.” She said, chuckling lightly before going silent and working away at her puzzle. The only noise from her was the sound of the pieces moving around or getting placed down, and for a rare moment she forgot she was in the hospital and could almost imagine she was back in her room doing puzzles.

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Apollo was starring the roof, immersing in the silence. It felt like things had finally began to slow down, and only now realized how bad his legs ached. "Man, it's been so busy these past few days… I'm so tired…" He groaned, relaxing in the bed. "I might just go to sleep if you're OK by yourself." He mumbled, rolling over in the bed.

@gracehustle

Davina looked up when he started taking, putting a piece in place and nodding, “Yeah, I’ll be fine, get some rest. I’ll wake you up if the doctor comes or they bring us food.” She understood being tired, mostly because of how frequently she was tired. Insomnia and nightmares made it terribly hard for her to sleep though and so it was just something she had to deal with.
