"Not long," Cam responded softly, thrumming his fingers on the wheel as he turned on a friendly-looking road. "Just a few more minutes. Why? Do you want me to drop you off somewhere?"
"Not long," Cam responded softly, thrumming his fingers on the wheel as he turned on a friendly-looking road. "Just a few more minutes. Why? Do you want me to drop you off somewhere?"
"I was just asking," Ava says with a small shrug. She's really eager to be out of the city, far away from her past. "You can drop me off wherever, I'm more than happy to walk home."
"I mean do you want to stay at my house for lunch? I don't want you to walk anywhere, you might get hurt." He bit back more frets. He was fretting over someone that didn't even like him. But she did give him a ton of money, so…
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine," She assures him, not worried about the possibility of getting hurt. "Staying over to lunch might be nice…." It would be great to have company for once. She loves Kreja but it's not as though she can hold a conversation with him.
"Then stay over," Cam said softly, glancing back at her with a slight grin before going back. "I can order something, or I can cook. Which do you want me to do?"
Lily barked softly, looking up and licking Ava's chin again.
"Whatever will be easiest," Ava tells him, not wanting to be a bother. She's not a picky eating so anything will be fine with her. Kreja barks over Lily and wags his tail, hoping to get some attention from the other dog.
"Hmm… alright. I'm thinking some kind of toss. Maybe with some spices I have… mmm…" He hummed softly and nodded. "Yeah, maybe a salad would be nice, too."
Lily barked down at Krejia, licking him too.
"Sounds good," She agrees, most of her attention still on the dogs. When she sees Lily and Kreja interact, she smiles brightly at them. It's so sweet to watch them interact.
Kreja nuzzles Lily's check, his tail still wagging like crazy.
Lily barked again, her tail thumping softly behind them as she leaned down with another lick. She liked the other dog. And the new human. They smelled strange but they seemed to be nice enough.
Ava pets the dogs, humming quietly. "You two are such sweethearts." She smiles. One hand is one each dog, scratching them behind their ears.
Lily looked up to lick at her chin again, but missed the first couple times, so her tongue was just flapping out. She seemed to have recovered well from her shock.
Ava chuckles and shakes her head in amusement at Lily’s failed attempts to lick her chin. “Your dog is a big teddy bear,” She comments to Cameron, though not taking her eyes off of the dogs.
Cam chuckled softly, humming as he pulled into his driveway. "She sure is. And she's a big sweatheart, right girly?" He cooed to her, turning around to scratch under her chin. Lily's tail thumped as Cam turned around, and she eagerly leaned forward to receive her hand.
Ava watches this exchange with a small smile. It’s sweet that he loves his dog so much, not that she’ll ever admit that out loud. When the car comes to a stop, she wiggles out from under the dogs and opens the car door.
Cameron pulled his keys out and stood out of his car, gently grabbing Lily who seemed reluctant to jump out and helping her. He cooed softly in a praise and led her up to the door, unlocking it with a soft hum.
Ava hops out of the car before turning to help Kreja get out. He doesn’t need very much encouragement. The dog seems eager to be out of the confined space. She trails after Cameron to the door, her beloved companion right by her side.
Cam shucked off his shoes and shut the door behind her, gently letting Lily out of her harness. She shook herself out and trotted away to the backyard again to do some business and get some food.
Ava glances down at her own feet and sighs before kicking off her combat boots. Walking around in her hot pink socks feels weird. Seeing that Kreja is already following Lily to the backyard, she calls out for him to play nice.
Cam glanced down at her socks (attracted by the sudden movement at her feet) with a slight eyebrow raise.
"Er… nice socks," He snickered, turning to his freezer.
"Got a problem with pink?" Ava questions, a small grin on her face at his reaction. Pink isn't one of her favorite colors but they had been on sale and she had needed some new socks.
"No, not really. It just doesn't seem like your color," He hummed softly as he set out meat to defrost. "Of course, they are just socks. Also, could you put your shoes by the door? Thank you…"
“Fair enough,” Ava mutters, knowing that she usually does prefer darker colors like black or a dark green. Rolling her eyes, she scoops up her shoes and places them by the door. “There you go, my shoes have been dealt with.”
Cam hummed softly and tossed the meat into the microwave to defrost, turning to look at her and crossing his arms.
"So, what now, do you think?"
“Have much time do we have be the meat defrosts?” Ava questions, trying to get an estimate on how much time they’ll have. Knowing that should help them figure out what to do.
"Hmmm, maybe about twenty minutes. Why?" He asked as he turned to collect spices, a pan, and started slicing veggies for the stir fry.
