Shade tilts her head. "Brother? I could find him easy, I believe. How similar do you two look, exactly?"
She notices Farah's flush, and sighs quietly. Glimmer comes back with the soup, and hands it to Saul.
She nods. "I should think you won't, since it's not her you need to be afraid of. It's me."
"Everyone says we look alike, but I don't see it," he remarked. "And how could you find him?"
Farah bit her lip and studied Saul's face with observant brown eyes.
Shade just grins. "I'm not as wild as I look."
She closes her eyes and manages to find Saul's aura: nearly black. Strange… I suppose I need to find a similar aura to his. she thinks, pulsing out auraic energy in gentle waves. Eventually, she hits a wall of black auraic energy that literally staggers her.
"Oh, gods… it's your brother, Saul. He's- somethings wrong. very, very wrong." she whispers, sitting down hard.
Farah moved in a flash to support Shade as she fell to the ground. "Shade?"
Saul's eyes widened. "What? What's wrong with my brother?" he demanded.
Shade twitches when Farah touches her, then realizes who it is. She looks long and hard at Saul, her eyes wide open now.
"He- he evidently has a lot more going on with him than you thought… his aura, it's getting ready to hit singularity. As in, the world will not be happy." she murmurs.
Farah had her arms wrapped gently around Shade, which proved to be a very good thing. Telling Saul that his brother had "more going on with him" wasn't exactly a smart move for Shade.
The assassin stalked toward them. "What do you mean?" he demanded.
As he got closer, intimidatingly close, Farah's eyes glowed, and she channeled her wind magic to push him backward.
Shade sighs. "All I know is that nothing good is happening. We're wasting time."
She realizes Farah is holding her, and smiles. You know, I did not expect that.
She gets up, Farah still on her, and laughs as she realizes this. "You are very light, Farah."
Farah's eyes widened at Shade's remark. Blushing furiously, she let the girl go. "Sorry," she murmured. Between an odd and attractive girl and a dangerous and handsome man, Farah was panicking slightly.
"Is he in danger?" Saul asked sharply.
Shade turns and grins at Farah, an odd gleam in her eyes. "No need to apologize."
She turns and stares at Saul for a moment, then laughs, a disbelieving sound. "What do you think, Saul? You think he's perfectly fine with his aura trying to escape the world? You think he's feeling fine with his very soul being ripped apart?"
Saul glared dangerously at Shade. "Can you tell where he is?" he demanded. "Where is he?"
Farah was tense, prepared to jump in if things got out of hand with Saul.
Shade puts a careless hand against Farah's chest, and feels the strong heartbeat within it. She grins.
"In a cave, about 4 days north northeast as the crow flies." she says, noting the dangerous look and matching it with the ferocity of a dragon.
Farah's breath hitched at Shade's touch. Oh gods…
Saul frowned. "The hell is that supposed to mean?"
Shade feels Farah's breath hitch and realizes: her hand was on the faerie. She'd done it so carelessly. But she doesn't remove her hand.
"It means what I said. We need to head to the Stone Grove." she says.
Farah inhaled steadily. "Alright, then let's go."
Saul shook his head incredulously. "Then why couldn't you just say that in the first place."
Shade now removes her hand, the feel of Farah's heartbeat still resonating through her.
"Because I enjoy being cryptic." she shrugs. She starts walking, then looks back at the faerie. She motions for her to walk beside her.
Farah easily matched Shade's pace, inclining her head for Saul to follow them, which he reluctantly did.
Shade glances over at Farah, noting the soft and angular features well. She also makes sure that Saul isn't listening. "So… I felt your heartbeat start to speed up. Eiether you were nervous, or something else."
Farah inhaled swiftly while lifting her chin. "I… I don't know what you're talking about."
Shade grins as Farah inhales. "You sure about that, dear?"
Farah cut her eyes at Shade. "Yes. Are you going to tell me why you touched me in the first place?"
Shade turns and starts walking backwards, to better look at Farah.
"To keep you from trying to defend me." she says cooly.
"I'm capable of handling myself. After all, what is a human man when compared to the Fae?" she questions.
Farah shook her head.
"I had a blade to her throat, if you remember," Saul chimed in. "Never underestimate the element of surprise."
Shade turns to Saul. "Yes, but look how that ended for you. You nearly got taken apart for touching her. Be lucky I didn't, just so that Farah didn't have to see it."
She turns back to the faerie. "Why'd you shake your head?"
Farah quirked her eyebrow in amusement at Saul and Shade's dialouge, but she didn't say anything to contribute. "No reason," she replied to Shade casually.
Shade raises an eyebrow.
"You sure?" she says, placing a hand over Farah's heart once more, this time to determine if it was a lie. It was.
"Your heart tells me otherwise." she grins.
