Anthony’s POV
Anthony raised an eyebrow. “When did I say that? I know you just handed me pamphlets on why I should join up, but I want you to convince me instead.”
Anthony’s POV
Anthony raised an eyebrow. “When did I say that? I know you just handed me pamphlets on why I should join up, but I want you to convince me instead.”
Winston’s POV
“Me?” Natural pigment started to seep slowly into Winston’s skin. Turning his cheeks from a dark grey to a flushed pink. He couldn’t understand Remedy’s reasoning. “I… I met my family there.” He began hesitantly. “Mirage and Broadcast are like the sisters I always wanted. And… the Guard does good things. Let my Ma and I stay there after we…” got foreclosed on. “After some things happened. And it’s a little scary I guess because sometimes not everyone thinks the same thing is right.” He mumbled, getting a little off track.
Anthony’s POV
Anthony sighed through his nose. “I’ve alread told you how I feel about teams and families.” He spat out the two words like they tasted foul. “Stop giving me sentiment. Tell me what I can gain by joining.”
Winston’s POV
Winnie stared at Remedy, not afraid as much as he was totally confused. “I don’t know what else anyone could want? It looks good on a college application? I’m guessin’ you’re younger than me.”
Alec’s POV
Alec knew the hat he was pushing his luck, some of the heroes had to have overcome their shock at someone brazen enough to rob a bank right by headquarters. He finished packing his bag. He should probably have left by now. He got up to look around. There was a surprisingly little amount of heroes around tho, there should have been at least one already. He sighed, Maybe that’s why they sent that young redhead?
Opals POV
Opal did her best to follow behind Ae-Ri, but her brisk pace made it hard to keep up. She tried to reach out to her mentally but what she saw stopped her. Ae-ri’s mind was sharp, and brilliant… and hurt. Just as she was about to pull back she sensed another presence down a nearby alley. It was strong, and beautiful, and dreamlike. Pasithea, she realized. She turned to shout to Ae-Ri, but no one was there. With a deep breath, she steeled herself and marched down the alley.
Anthony’s POV
He ground his teeth in frustration. “You’re, what, sixteen? As I said, Firefly, I am twenty years of age.” Turning away, Anthony summoned his biggest, strongest grotesque. “Will I be permitted to bring my….pets….along?”
Winston’s POV
Winston tried not to cower, but it certainly helped that he was already on his knees. “Seventeen. And uh… Mhm, I was supposed to tell you that, I think.” Winston refrained from the urge to correct Remedy from calling him Firefly. But they weren’t on the same side yet.
Sienna’s POV
Sienna picked her way through an alleyway after climbing down from a fire escape. It was hard to do in heels, but she had enough practice now that balance was the least of her problems. All she had wanted to do today was get through her 8 AM lecture class and find some minds to use for later to please the Alliance. But any super in the area knew something was going down at the bank.
Anthony’s POV
Anthony hummed to himself, careful to maintain his falsified British accent. “Hm… fine. I’ll come with. But if my payment is insufficient, I’m leaving.
Ae-Ri’s POV
“I’m at the bank!” Ae-Ri called into her comm device. “Mission Control, What’s the situation?”
Winston’s POV
Winnie quite literally lit up when Remedy agreed to go with him. “I convinced you?” He breathed, startled but proud. He scrambled to his feet quickly. “I’m Winston. I don’t usually go by Firefly around the base. Or you can give me a nickname. I sure get a lot of those. Maybe you’ll get to work with me sometimes?”
Opals POV
Opal came across a girl in the alleyway, she wasn't sure it was Pasithea until she felt her mind again. The girl didn’t look the same as when Opal has last saw her, but she still carried herself like a goddess. And looks like one She thought, but didn’t add. Putting herself on a direct course with her, and she asked softly, “Are you Pasithea?”
Alec’s POV
Alec took a deep breath and prepared to charge out the door, if they weren’t inside, they had to have been waiting for him to come out. He dabbed to psyche himself up, and mocked a runners stance, darting out the door…
And ran right into a certain red-haired super. Welp, this is bad.
Sienna’s POV
Fuck. Sienna knew that voice. She squared her shoulders, turning around to face Opal. Today she wore a thin white t-shirt with a jean skirt, not exactly goddess attire, her hair cascading in gentle waves freely down her slim shoulders. The high heels, at least, made her two inches taller. “Opal? How unexpected.” She forced herself to sound pleased despite being a mixture of embarrassed at annoyed at herself.
Anthony's POV
Anthony gave him a look that bordered on disdainful, reaching forward to lift his strongest grotesque's chin with the crook of his finger. "As I said, Firefly, I will be working alone. What's your last name?" He wouldn't be calling this boy by his first name, at least not yet. He would rather they became…. acquainted first. "And if you're expecting to give you my real name, you're getting your hopes up for nothing."
Ae-Ri's POV
Ae-Ri wasted no time probing the familiar criminal's mind, the same man from last night who'd been confirmed to a be a rogue by Mission Control. Barely missing a beat when she recognized him, she forced the most gruesome image she could think of into his head, ensuring that all he saw were empty streets lined with blood and bodies. The illusion took a lot out of her, but she ignored a sudden wave of weariness and darted forward to slap her handcuffs firmly over his wrists.
Opals POV
“I, uh.” Opal started, shocked that Pasithea was so straightforward about her identity. Then she realized a painful truth. She hadn’t come prepared. “I, uhm,” She pulled out her pair of cuffs, fully realizing that her hands were shaking. “I’m, supposed to arrest you, so can you put these on?”
Alecs POV
Alec’s mind bordered on legitimate madness as the readhaired girl slapped the cuffs on him. The image she had forced into his mind was much worse than the last time he had met her. It was so real he could almost smell it. He tried shocking her, but to his surprise he couldn’t. “Damn, this is a shocking turn of events.”
Winston’s POV
“Ambrose. Winston Ambrose.” Winnie decided that this was good progress. “I don’t mind. Even we don’t work together y’all can come over. I’m learnin’ how to bake and I could always use someone to try recipes on.” He beamed, quite determined to make Remedy into a new friend. He had officially demoted him from Threatening to probably-won’t-kill-me status.
Sienna’s POV
Sienna spotted Opal’s shaking hands, closing the distance between them. “Are you okay, sweetheart?” She asked gently, grabbing onto Opal’s hands to steady the girl. “I’m sorry, but I can’t go with you right now. I’m quite busy today.” She reached one hand up to graze Opal’s cheek, thinking of her second class of the day at 2:30. She made no attempt to use her powers on the girl, counting on charm alone to get her out of this situation.
Anthony's POV
Stifling yet another snort, Anthony pushed his creature away from him. "No, thank you. You forget that I'm a mercenary. In a month's time, I could be with the Alliance, on a mission to kill you; just because we are temporarily on the same side, doesn't mean that I'm your ally or your friend."
Ae-Ri's POV
"Yup," Ae-Ri snarked, clipping a chain to the front of the cuffs. She pushed all painful thoughts of Opal from her mind, forcing away the memory of what, to her, was a betrayal, and pressed the button on the side of her helmet. "Mirage to Mission Control. I've apprehended the rogue. How long until the police get here?"
The flat voice on the other side of the line informed her that they were on their way. Supressing a triumphant smile, the young hero tugged the bag of money out of her captive's hands and tossed it back to a security guard, who was watching, dumbfounded, from the front doors. "You're coming with me. What do you call yourself, rogue?"
Winston’ POV
“So you want me to bring some in for you? They’re better when they’re real fresh, but if you wanna be cold about it I’ll bring some in for y’all.” Winnie smiled warmly, referring to Remedy’s grotesques as well.
Opals POV
Opal blushed slightly as she registered Pasithea holding her hands, but she tried to maintain her composure. “But, I-i need to arrest you, or I can’t go back.” Opal thought back to Ae-Ri, if she let Pasithea get away again, she didn’t know if she would believe that Opal had tried to arrest her.
Alecs POV
Alec smiled at the redheads attitude. “I like to be called Outlet, but you can call me, anytime.” He said, relying on his cringy and half-hearted flirting skills to help him out of this bind.
Anthony's POV
Anthony clenched his jaw, suddenly threatened by Winston's lack of fear—and respect. Fear was good, fear was something he could use to his advantage. Showing weakness or a soft side? Not an option.
He swept the file off the counter, purposely 'forgetting' to sign the legal document within, and pressed it into the boy's hands. But the moment their fingers brushed, he was taking control, using his magic as a tool to manipulate his guest's muscles and force him to take a step back. It was a small show of power, and one that did no physical harm, but he knew it would be enough to remind the boy of where he stood.

Ae-Ri's POV
Ae-Ri gritted her teeth, wrapping the chain around her fists as she began to practically drag Outlet back to the Guard's headquarters. "Shut up. Now."
Alec’s POV
Alec’s smile widened, “But why would I do that? Then you would be deprived of my beautiful voice, and I would be denied the very rare chance for intelligent conversation. It’s a win-win for us both.” He moved along to the tug of the chain, periodically checking to see if he could shock her. “Now, I gave you my name, what say you give me yours? I would love to know the name the red haired hero who caught me.”
Sienna’s POV
“Opal, no one needs to know you saw me. You recognized me from my mind, correct?” Sienna spoke as softly as possible, trying to comfort and soothe Opal.
Winston’s POV
Winston yelped as his body moved of own accord. Chills shot up his spine, leaving him with a tingling sensation. He tentatively shook each one of his legs, his heart racing all over again. “You could’ve just said you didn’t like cookies.” Winston mumbled, keeping his breathing steady in order to stay calm. He had paled quite a bit, close to the edge of having a breakdown all over again.
Ae-Ri's POV
Ae-Ri barely refrained from punching Outlet straight in the nose. "Shut up, or I force an even worse image into your brain," she growled, careful to keep a tight hold on the chain.

Anthony's POV
Anthony was horrified at the tidal wave of guilt that came crashing over him when he saw how stricken the poor boy looked. He reminded him so much of Samuel……..
No. He shook his head, trying to dislodge the thought. "We are not friends," he answered Winston calmly, turning away before his carefully constructed expression could crumble. "You understand why I had to prove that to you?"
Opals POV
“But I would know…” She said slowly. “I wouldn’t be able to face them, I wouldn’t be able to face her if I didn’t try.” Opal looked at Pasithea. “I at least have to try. So unless you knock me out, I’m going to be right there with you until I can arrest you.”
Alec’s POV
Alec stiffened slightly at the thought of being subjected to one of those images again. “You wouldn’t… I think. But even if you did, I’m crazy, so what would it do to me?” He hopes she wouldn’t catch his bluff. Damn, this girl is still super scary.
Winston’s POV
Winston Ambrose would admit that he wasn’t very smart. However, he didn’t have to be told why he wasn’t wanted around. He’d heard it a million different times in a million different ways. Somehow, though, it still hurt just as much as the first time he’d been called a talk freak in kindergarten. He nodded, rubbing aggressively at his watery eyes to prevent any tears from falling.
Sienna’s POV
“Come along then. I have to go shopping, if you’re going to follow me for awhile put those hideous cuffs away.” Sienna began to walk out of the alleyway, giving Opal only a short window of time to decide on whether she wanted to follow or not.
