Anthony’s POV
“The grotesques?” Anthony faked disdain, curling his lip. “You can try. They’re morons though, so don’t expect results. All suffering from severe Brian damage.”

Opals POV
Opal blushed and look down. I will too She thought. This was not going well for her mission, but she couldn’t help but feel happy. She looked back up, and at Pasithea, “ Alright, where to next?”
Alecs POV
Alec hung his head in defeat, now he was going to have to plan a big prison escape. But as they got there a guard walked up to the red haired hero. He smiled, they probably thought that he couldn’t hear them. A plan quickly began to form in his mind. All he had to do was convince the girl.

Winston’s POV
Winnie paled considerably. Severe brain damage? All of a sudden he felt the ghost of Remedy’s fingers grazing the back of his neck. Slowly, deliberately. A threat that had no intention of being veiled.
“They still have emotions.” Winston protested, although his voice had faded to something only barely louder than a whisper. “They’re still people.”
Opals POV
Opal blushed and look down. I will too She thought. This was not going well for her mission, but she couldn’t help but feel happy. She looked back up, and at Pasithea, “ Alright, where to next?”
Sienna’s POV
Sienna only kept an 8th of what she stole. She pondered Opal’s question for a moment, debating on how to handle this. Partially reveal her secret by going to a cheap store? Or lie and go to an expensive one. It was definitely more on brand for her to lie, but she wasn’t even dressed as the goddess today. “Let’s let the winds of fate guide us today.” She said calmly, hoping it was cryptic enough to be Pasithea quality.
Opals POV
Opal had to push down an overbubbly, happy feeling. “That sounds like a good idea!” She supposed she could have fun with Pasithea, as long as she remembered to arrest her after.
Anthony’s POV
“Barely,” he responded breezily, “They’re monsters. My monsters. They’ve killed before, they’re not as innocent and misunderstood as you might think. Emotions? Their emotions pretty much consist of hunger and exhaustion.”
Alecs POV
Alec hung his head in defeat, now he was going to have to plan a big prison escape. But as they got there a guard walked up to the red haired hero. He smiled, they probably thought that he couldn’t hear them. A plan quickly began to form in his mind. All he had to do was convince the girl.
Ae-Ri’s POV
“What do you mean, Broadcast isn’t answering her comms and was seen with Pasithea?” Ae-Ri hissed at the guard.
Alecs POV
“It sounds like your friend has been abducted by Pasithea,” Alec interrupted, saving the the scared guard from a tongue lashing. While he wasn’t sure he had ever met her, even he had heard of the Queen of Dreams. “She could be one of the mindless drones that Pasithea tends to use. It’s too bad that you won’t have any back up to take her down.”
Sienna’s POV
Sienna lead the way out of the store, into the general part of the mall. She look around for something to catch her eye.
Winston’s POV
“That’s not true.” Winston protested, his gaze resting on Samuel. “That one’s sweet and kind. It likes to be pet.”
Anthony's POV
Anthony's whole body went rigid at the mention of Samuel. "You don't know what you're talking about," he answered bluntly after a tense, charged pause.
Ae-Ri's POV
"Shut up," Ae-Ri growled over her shoulder. "What do you know about anything?" But, much to her dismay, the guard looked intrigue. "Why? Do you know her?"
Alecs POV
Alec grinned, he had her hooked. “ No, I’ve never met Pasithea, at least as far as I know, but even a guy like me gets info about her, including the fact that she’s used her minions in robberies before, and sometimes you coppers don’t even realize that their mind controlled. Well that and she’s someone who has a reputation for mercilessness.” He embellished the part of Pasithea’s reputation. He wasn’t above a little white lie to get out of jail.
Ae-Ri's POV
"Thank you for the information," she responded coldly, pushing the criminal towards the doors. "Now, off to prison for you. Nice try, though."
“Wa-Wait, do you even have a way to find her?” Alec asked, stopping his body in the door frame, “Because I can guess that if you wanted to find, uhh, Broadcast, then you’ll need as much help as possible, otherwise you’re going to be searching for a long time. Perhaps even longer than she has left to live!” Alec said quickly, trying to make his point.
Ae-Ri's POV
Ae-Ri narrowed her eyes at his evident desperation. "I can get backup. I don't need you." She pressed the button on the side of her helmet to activate comms, but when she asked for backup, there was none. Everyone was either injured or otherwise occupied with a fire downtown. She sighed through her nose, clenching and unclenching her fists.
Alecs POV
Alec let out a small laugh while she cycles though names on her communicator. Eventually she stopped talking into the mouthpiece. “Are you sure you don’t need me? I can be an awful lot of help. Besides I can’t be all stupid, I managed to evade you heroes for the better part of a year.” He let a small bit of smugness seep into his voice, but repressed most of it to keep from getting her more mad at him.
Ae-Ri's POV
Ae-Ri swore out loud. The mere mention of Opal was painful for her—after all, she had a grand total of three friends, and now one had deserted her—but she still cared. Of course she did, as much as she hated to admit it.
"Fine," she spat at the criminal after relaying the plan to mission control. "But it's behind bars for you once we're done."
Anthony's POV
Anthony's whole body went rigid at the mention of Samuel. "You don't know what you're talking about," he answered bluntly after a tense, charged pause.
Winston’s POV
Winnie grew anxious as Remedy paused, realizing fairly quickly that it was time to shut his mouth. For the first time he began to reconsider letting Remedy stay with him. The feeling he got around the other boy was odd.
Winnie felt distinctly as if he were being hunted. Energy, electricity, or something of the like kept him on edge. A constant pressure that caused his heart to pump fervently. He kept his head down, gulping nervously as he carefully dodged cracks on the sidewalk. He avoided them as if it was some kind of game. The crippling reality was that the ritual was a small shield from the overwhelming anxiety building in his chest.
Anthony’s POV
Please don’t cry…. Anthony thought a bit gruffly, not in the mood to deal with waterworks. This boy had too many emotions for his taste… it was hard to be comfortable around him. “Are we almost there?” he asked finally, sighing slowly.
Winston’s POV
Winnie looked up, holding his breath as he took in his surroundings. He watched a stranger practically dash across the street up ahead, trying to avoid them. He had never had that happen before. Now that he thought about it, no one had even come near them. Not even the dangerous rogues that scowled at him when he first walked through the bad part of town to get to Remedy.
“It’s at the end of the street.” He replied timidly, angling his gaze back down at his shoes.
Anthony’s POV
He nodded. “Good. And what, are you supposed to drop me at the main office?”
Winston’s POV
Winnie’s head lifted up again as he was spoken to. “I’m supposed to take you to the room I got debriefed in. I dunno what they want us to do from there.” He shrugged, hoping the answer would suffice.
“Hm.” They entered the building, and Anthony took immense pleasure in the fact that every single person in the lobby stopped dead at the sight of his grotesques.
Winston’s POV
Winnie sharply inhaled as they entered the building, resisting the urge to use his camouflage and vanish from the situation all together. He knew the looks were for Remedy. But part of him feared that they were targeting him. His hands started to shake as he led Remedy down a maze of hallways.
Anthony’s POV
”What he fuck is he doing here?” My satisfaction turned to dread. To shame—the shame that I was more than used to after all these years. I clenched my jaw and kept my eyes ahead, waiting for Winston to stop at wherever the hell he was leading me to. Samuel let out a whimper, pressing close to my side.
