"In case you ever get lost while we're out, or if you're ever in danger while i'm away, you can call or text me," he placed the phone in Cas's hands and guided him on how to play.

@Fraust

"How, though? You've only showed me the buttons and the birds… and I can't really read or write particularly well." Cas eventually managed to figure out how to play Angry Birds, with Sorin's help, of course.

@Bananapudding

"So just a year younger than I am," he smiled. "Your age doesn't matter when it comes to learning new things, you know. A friend of mine didn't learn to read until he was twenty-two."

@Bananapudding

"We'll start with the basics first, how to pronounce and write letters and numbers, then we'll go on from there," Sorin kissed his temple.

@Fraust

Cas nodded. "I think I can recognize and name the alphabet and stuff, but I dunno how to put the letters together…"

@Bananapudding

Sorin gently set him aside to grab a clipboard, paper, and pencil. He wrote down "Casper". "Cas, can you try to read this for me please? I want to see just how much you know before I can start."

@Fraust

Cas examined the paper closely, tracing each letter with his finger. He would whisper the name of the letter under his breath, but couldn't put the letters together. "It says… C, A, S, P, E, R. I-I'm sorry, I think that's just about the best I can do…"

@Bananapudding

Sorin held his hand and brushed the tip of his nose against his. "It's okay," he gave him a soft, reassuring smile. "Casper, that's what the word says. It's your name."

@Fraust

"Oh…" Cas traced the letters with his thumb. "Casper…" He repeated quietly, trying to make his brain connect the word to this particular arrangement of letters.

@Fraust

Cas seemed a bit nervous, but started writing anyways. It took him a while, and his eyes constantly flicked between his name and where he was rewriting it so he didn't do it wrong, but he eventually managed to do it.

@Bananapudding

Sorin smiled and taught him briefly about how each letter could be pronounced, how some letters had more than one way it could be said. He decided to do the small things first then gradually teach him more challenging things later. "Now can you try to write mine?"

@Fraust

"S…" Cas started writing, his hand shaking a bit. "O, R… um…" He looked over the letters, checking to make sure they were the right ones… "I… N?" He said quietly, looking down at the clumsily written word.

@Bananapudding

"Yes," Sorin shut off his phone the second he heard another buzz. He had other priorities. "Now, i'm going to say a few words and I want to see how much you can write them." Though Sorin wasn't the best teacher, hence the scar on his upper arm due to his friend stabbing him with a pencil, he was certainly patient.
