Antonio bit his lip for a moment trying to decide on what to say. Eventually, he spoke, "So I can convince the king to send help to the city. I work in the palace and have close ties with his majesty."
Antonio bit his lip for a moment trying to decide on what to say. Eventually, he spoke, "So I can convince the king to send help to the city. I work in the palace and have close ties with his majesty."
The guard's eyes narrowed even more. It was obvious they, like Quinn, held no love for the king. "Why do you need to bring a Raven with you?"
"Would you rather I speak about the plights of your city? I, who has very limited experience and few personal ties here. Or have one of your own speak about it? Someone who knows much more about what is occurring here and wants the best for the city. Along with a person who doesn't risk infecting any more people outside the city bounds." Antonio asked the guard in return. He could do this part.
The guard frowned again. "We need the Ravens to deal with the sick." He pointed out.
Quinn sighed faintly, but didn't speak.
"And you have plenty of others in the city," Antonio responded starting to get half a mind to just use his authority as the prince to get through. But he wanted to get through without revealing himself, "Besides, would rather have a kingdom full of the sick to deal with or simply a city full? Because I know for the sake of recovery, a city is a lot easier to get supplies for than a kingdom."
The guard's lip curled. "Ain't like the king has been doing shit to give us supplies anyway." He replied, a look of deep dislike and anger in his eyes. "Maybe the bastard deserves the plague."
"Ah yes, and doom the rest of the population most of whom do not deserve to die from the plague" Antonio countered, "And then we won't just have a city in quarantine we'll have an entire kingdom fading off into oblivion. I dislike the fact the king has neglected this place as much as the rest of you, and that's why I came here in the first place. If anything, allowing Quinn here to leave will show the rest of the kingdom how ill fit the king is in handling situations like this."
The guard sighed loudly. "Y'got papers?" He asked Quinn. "Proof of identity, so I can write'cha down in the official register?"
Quinn nodded, reaching into his pocket and holding a sheet of paper out to the guard. "Here."
Antonio resisted the urge to smirk and kept his neutral face as Quinn handed over his papers.
The guard sighed, carrying the papers into the guardhouse, remaining inside for five minutes, before coming back out and handing the papers back to Quinn.
Quinn tucked the papers into his pocket, nodding to the guard.
Antonio stood somewhat close to Quinn as they waited. He waited for Quinn to leave first before he went to move.
The guards opened up the gates, and Quinn stepped through, closing his eyes for a moment as they emerged on the other side.
Antonio followed after letting out a sigh of relief of being able to get out of the city. He glanced over at Quinn.
Quinn took off the mask, biting his lip faintly as he led Antonio down the road and away from the city.
Antonio smiled as he saw Quinn take off his mask. At least the most glaring part of his ensemble was gone now.
He tied the mask around his neck so that it was hanging down his chest.
Antonio hummed a little as he looked over at Quinn taking off the gloves he had been given, "Well, welcome to the outside world."
Quinn nodded faintly, looking around in a quiet, thoughtful manner.
"You know you don't have to wear all that gear now," Antonio commented.
Quinn blinked at him. "I…"
"I mean if you want to for right now that's fine, but when we get into a more populated area you probably should change," Antonio continued on worried he might have pushed Quinn too far.
"Why?" He asked uncertainly, frowning a little as he looked over at Antonio.
"Well, there's no need to. No plague out here, and I'm worried if you do wear it you might end up drawing unwanted attention to yourself," Antonio told him softly.
He frowned faintly, unsure. "I…"
"If you don't want to right now that's fine, like I said," Antonio repeated himself, "Just something for later okay?"
