"I'll have to! He might crush me if we try to sleep in the same bed!" he giggled,
"I guess I'll just have to be the little spoon."
"I'll have to! He might crush me if we try to sleep in the same bed!" he giggled,
"I guess I'll just have to be the little spoon."
Even laughed, covering his mouth and shaking his head. “The little spoon… pfft. I guess if you wanted to be you could.”
"Josh said he's as big as me! I hope he doesn't try to jump on me, I might clip dimensions and end up in the back rooms."
“I think he’d just crush you. And we can’t have that, I need a roommate and I’m not willing to give you up yet.” Evan laughed more and shook his head.
Nico grinned. A nurse entered with a wheelchair,
"Oh! I don't need a chair, thanks."
"Doctors orders dear, says you hit you head pretty bad and that you need to take it easy."
The nurse turned to Evan and smiled,
"Do you need help with your bags?"
Evan was about to open his mouth when the nurse spoke for him instead. He nodded his agreement and smiled softly.
"Oh, no thank you, I've got them. Thank you for everything."
"No worries, love. If you're ready, I'll show you to the new exit," she smiles,
"We had to close the other strickly for AnE, unfortunately."
Evan nodded as he grabbed up the bags and slung them over his shoulders. He smiled brightly down at Nico before turning to the nurse and nodding.
"I'm ready. It's unfortunate this is all happening… it must be busy for you all."
She pushed them out the door, nodding,
"Yes yes, this is the trauma ward, though, so we don't see as many people these days as we used to. A lot less people out there doing stupid things."
"They're all inside now, trying not to catch anything." Evan noted quietly, sighing gently. He rubbed at the back of his neck and flashed a grin Nico's way. "It's nice for us who never really met their roommates to do so. I'm glad I have Nico as my suitemate and not someone who wouldn't want to talk to me."
She laughed,
"Yes, I couldn't imagine being stuck inside with someone you don't get along with,"
They stepped into a lift,
"I'm stuck at home with my son, unfortunately. All he does is play his video games. You'd think sibling would be more similar, right? My daughter's studying law."
Evan chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "Siblings can be very different. But give him time. I'm sure he's coping with it all in the only way he knows how. It's stressful on a lot of us students. But congratulations for your daughter, is she doing well?"
"Ah, yes, she was always the bright one," she's sighed wistfully,
"More intelligent than me and her father combined, I don't know where she got is from."
“You must be proud of her.” Even laughed gently, shoving his hands in his pocket. He knew his family was proud of him for attending college but he was sure they didn’t quite like his major. That was fine by him.
"So, what do you two do as a living, then?"
Evan laughed nervously. "I don't know what Nico does but I'm currently unemployed. This pandemic lost me my job plus I'm in college so not much I can do."
Nico hesitated,
"I uh- I make videos on the internet. But it's not porn!!" He interjected quickly, going red,
"I do stuff on YouTube, I'm a YouTuber!"
Evan burst into laughter, he couldn’t help it. He ruffled Nico’s hair and shook his head. “You’re so funny Nico.” He smiled brightly. “You could have just said YouTube, you know.” He teased, his smile turning into a large grin.
The nurse laughed along, covering her mouth lightly. They pulled up at the exit, and she stepped back,
"Well good luck to the both of you; and I'd better not see either of you back here again!" She teased, pointing a finger their way.
Nico nodded along,
"Sure, I'll go to a different hospital next time then."
"No-"
Evan gently tapped Nico’s head. “Noooo, you’re not going back to the hospital unless it’s a big emergency” he huffed, laughing softly.
“We’ll be sure to stay safe, thank you very much, I can take it from here,” he told the nurse, smiling brightly at her.
"Of course, stay safe!"
They trudged through the car park till they reached Evans car,
"Wow-is this your car??"
Evan blushed when questioned about the car. “Oh… yeah it is…” He had worked hard to repair and renovate his grandfather’s 1965 Chevy Impala. He had put countless hours and many of his life’s savings to get the right parts to fix it up so he could drive it.
It was his way of escaping back when he got the call from Ven that Aster had been found murdered.
Aster, the love of his life and the happiest he had ever been when around someone… Evan missed him terribly.
“I’ll help you get in. I’m sorry if it’s a little too flashy, it was my grandfathers and I really needed something to do so I fixed it up.” He helped Nico to the passenger side and opened up the ruby red car door. “And I put a lot of money into it, sooo getting another car to drive around feels wrong.”
"It looks awesome!" he admired the seats and interior,
"I should really learn to drive one day."
Evan looked at Nico and blinked in surprise, setting Nico into the passenger seat. "You don't have your license?" He asked softly, tilting his head
"Nooo, not really…" he shook his head,
"Never really needed one, don't by many 18+ things ya know?"
