Macha’s eyes flickered back and forth from his face to her feet. “It’s fine, I don’t…. actually talk to people a lot. This is very new to me.”, she laughed, somewhat nervously.
Macha’s eyes flickered back and forth from his face to her feet. “It’s fine, I don’t…. actually talk to people a lot. This is very new to me.”, she laughed, somewhat nervously.
“Yeah..But you don’t have to be nervous around me I mean, I’ve been in your head as long as you can remember.”
Macha attempted a nonchalant shrug. “It’s just… anxiety I guess. You’re a lot easier to talk to then other people, if you were someone from highschool I’d probably be a jibbering mess.”
“Oof Yeah. I had zero friends in high school.” He looked down, still smiling a little.
“Same here. Honestly, before I bumped into you, the closest thing I had to a friend was that one girl who worked at the library desk who sometimes said hi to me but not always.” Macha allowed herself a wry smile. If her palms had been able to sweat, then probably be doing so right now, but thankfully they couldn’t.
“Yeah..when I was little I tired telling this one kid about you, well before I knew it was you..remember that? He pushed me down the stairs.”
“Yeah.” Macha smiled a little sadly. “I remember staying up at night and listening to you cry to me— you were my imaginary friend when I was little.” She rubbed at her knuckles, remembering. “Remember that one time— I must have driven you insane— I pulled my first all-nighter and chattered to you nonstop until dawn. I fell asleep in class that day.”
Tyler laughed as she said this. “Of course i remember. That was great. Oh and the time in middle school when I went out with that one girl and you said she was going to break up with me and two days later she did. I was such a dork.” He laughed harder at the memories.
Macha laughed. “I told you. Or that time in tenth grade you helped me cheat on a chemistry test I’d forgotten to study for. The look on my teacher’s face when I got 97%.., that was the best thing ever oh my god.”
Tyler leaned back in his chair, laughing hard. "All those times you wouldn't be saying anything and I would try and scare you by screaming really loudly."
“I full out shrieked in the middle of a calculus test one of those times you monster!” She reached over the table and shoved his shoulder lightly, jokingly. “Everyone thought I was possessed!” It was pretty hilarious now that she thought about it.
"Ah those were the days.." He laughed, gazing at her from across the table.
Macha laughed lightly, running a hand through her hair and propping her elbows up on the table. This was the happiest she'd felt in months. And the longest she'd held eye contact without anxiously turning away and hyperventilating. She grinned at Tyler from across the table.
"Hey. You aren't nervous anymore." He said quietly, smiling.
Macha paused. "Yeah. I guess not." After the initial anxiety, it had been easy to connect with him. In the beginning, she had called him a stranger, but in reality, he wasn't. She knew him. He knew her. And that was extremely comforting, nothing like what had happened to her mother.
"That's good." He said, thinking about how pretty and wonderful she is, not caring if she heard.
Macha's heart skipped a beat as his thought went straight to her head. Swallowing, she tried to resume the conversation, thankful that she couldn't blush. Usually, she could mask her emotions, but now… Even with Lenn she'd retained a degree of stoniness at first. Not so with Tyler.
"You finished eating?" He asked, gesturing to her almost empty plate and reaching in his pocket for money.
"Yeah. And I can pay, it's no problem." What she didn't tell him was that she was going to burn a significant part of her savings doing so.
"No. I'm paying." He said, pulling out the money and setting it on the magic check that had appeared suddenly.
(convenient lol)
Macha made to protest, but realized he wouldn't listen and leaned back, remembering the electricity bill that was coming soon, she and her dad would have to compile money to pay it. "Thanks."
(the power of rps)
"No problem." He said as the mystery check disappeared.
(lmao)
Macha didn’t want to get up or leave, she was enjoying herself too much, but she pushed herself out of the chair anyways.
Tyler stood as well and held the door open for her as they walked out. "That was nice wasn't it?"
“Definitely. We should, um, do it again soon.” Macha wasn’t sure why she felt so flustered.
