No it’s fine, I just need to calm down. He glanced away from her and looked back down at the steps.

Macha exhaled in partial relief, too high-strung to talk to anyone at the moment, and sat down in the window seat, opening her book. It was titled The Republic, a sort of philosophical debate about society, which she had read before, and she soon felt herself blissfully lost between the words.
Tyler felt her happiness and tried mimicking the feeling.
(what do you want to do next, should we skip or keep going?)
(Idk I mean eventually they have to fall in love so…)
(Good morning)
(Do you want to skip to a time when they’re more likely to do something resulting in flustered feelings then? Maybe another meetup that’s aftually sort of an unintentional date?)
(Morning)
(Sure like hey I’m getting lunch do you want to come sort of thing?)
Hi sorry, I won’t be on much today unless the looong party I’m at gets super awkward then I’ll hide in the bathroom and rp)

(Have fun w your camping, I am still at the party Oof)
(Oof social anxietyyyy)
(I’m hiding in the bathroom lol)
(Do you want Macha to ask Tyler out?)
(Sorry if I ask a lot of questions and am really uncertain all the time)
(It’s ok and yeah that’d be fine)
Macha’s eyes fluttered sleepily open, and she rubbed them, trying to wake herself up. Yawning, she pushed herself up into sitting position, stretching drowsily. It had been a much better night than usual, she’d gotten a full five hours of sleep. Today was going to be an unusually good day, she could already tell. Checking he alarm clock, she detangled her legs from the bedsheets. 7:30, she’d slept in.
A few minutes later, she was going down the rickety staircase, careful to skip the step that had caved in on itself a few months ago. Macha sat down st the kitchen table, still in pyjamas, and unplugged her phone, inserting earbuds into her ears. She was ready to ignore the world until her dad got up. Her phone was at least seven years old, and had been used when she’d bought it off eBay for a suspiciously low price. The screen was a maze of cracks, the wifi didn’t work, the camera was glitchy, and the battery life would sometimes jump down by thirty percent, but in all honesty, she was just happy to have a phone in the first place. Clicking shuffle play, she closed her eyes, propped her elbows up on the table, and rested her head in her hands.
By chance, Crush by Tessa Violet come on, and the corners of Macha’s lips quirked up. Her mind stumbled around sleepily, continuously landing on Tyler. Eventually, she just yawned and sent him a thought, too tired to care about the possible consequences of doing so. Good morning.
Morning! He answered back happily. He had returned home late last night but found his fathers things packed for some sort of business trip. Now he was just walking through the town. It was a warm day and many people were around in shops and such.
(hello :)
Macha blinked the gunk out of her eyes. How are you?, she asked, though she could already tell from the waves of happiness she could feel coming off of him. Humming along to Crush, she began to make herself breakfast.
I’m great. How about you? He asked, smiling happily at the people giving him weird looks.
I'm good. Macha cracked an egg over a pan on the stove. Through her music, she heard a faint shuffling sound coming from the living room, and paused. Pausing her breakfast-making, she slipped out into the passage, peering through the doorway. Her dad sat on the couch, staring at a pile of papers in his hands. Similar papers were strewn all over the floor and couch. Judging by his shaking hands and tired eyes, he'd been there since yesterday. One sec, Macha told Tyler and crouched next to her father. "Dad?", she said gently, resting a hand on his shoulder. Hans blinked and shifted, looking up at her. "Mach? I– what time is it?" She bit her lip. "It's almost 8:00, you've been here all night." She helped him up, straightening his glasses. "Come, you should lie down for the rest of the day." He didn't protest when she lay him down in his creaky bed, pulling the covers up to his chin and planting a kiss on his forehead. She only allowed her face to morph into a worried expression after she'd left the room. Her dad did this sometimes, forgot what he was doing, accidentally stayed up all night. It was as if his mind had rearranged itself, and it made no sense. Still, Macha did her best to help out.
Sighing, she sat back down at the kitchen counter, egg forgotten, needing a distraction. Want to meet me for lunch today?, she asked Tyler.
Sure. You okay? He asked, feeling some of her worry. He sat down on bench and watched the people walking by. One man kept his eyes on Tyler as he walked past. Soon after walking away he pulled out a phone and started talking quickly to someone on the other end.
(dun dun dun)
I’m fine., she replied, appetite lost. Any good lunch places in mind?
(teehee)
Not really. It's up to you. He said as the man disappeared around a corner.
(uh oh)
Macha thought for a second, re-inserting her earbuds after she heard the faint sound of her father snoring. Do you like sushi? There's a relatively cheap sushi place close to the lake.
(I got ideas you just wait)
Sounds good, what time? He asked, wondering why conversation with her was so easy.
(is scared)
Macha chewed on her lip, nerves just beginning to set in. Screw it, she thought to herself. He's in my head, I might as well get to know him. Then, to Tyler, she said Does one o'clock work for you?
(Ahahahaha haha ha)
Course. See you then. He smiled, walking back to the house and finding some money left on the counter for food from his father.
