Hunter let out a laugh, praying his face wasn’t too red. “You know… why do you think that we—of all people—are soulmates?” He asked softly, not realizing he was biting his lip.
Hunter let out a laugh, praying his face wasn’t too red. “You know… why do you think that we—of all people—are soulmates?” He asked softly, not realizing he was biting his lip.
Milo glanced down at Hunter's lips then quickly back to his eyes. "I uh… I have no idea, but I'm… I'm glad…" He said quietly, trailing off at the end of his sentence looking down to his hands again.
“I- Really?” Hunter asked, being caught off guard. He had thought Milo hated the idea of them being ‘soulmates’. To know that Milo wasn’t angry, but glad… It made a feeling flutter in Hunter’s chest that he never really felt before. And he didn’t know how he felt about it just yet.
(So like…dis cute and stuff….can I like….steal it???)
(Sure, go ahead! but I want to stalk the rp (at least I’m assuming it would be an rp?) you make if you do xD )
(Ye for sure)
"Yeah… for one, you haven't… bullied me since we found out… you even apologized…" Milo responded while looking back up at Hunter. His hands were still fidgeting, but not super evidently. His chest seemed to glow a bit brighter causing Milo to take a big breath glancing between his chest and Hunter's.
“Well that’s because I was being a jerk, and I just-“ Hunter cut himself off. He would not be telling his whole sob story here, despite how he felt comfortable enough to do so with Milo for some reason. This is stupid… “Maybe this whole, I don’t know, soul mate thing put it into perspective,” Hunter said softly, looking into Milo’s brown eyes.
Milo nodded, looking back into Hunter's eyes, noticing Hunter's eyes were almost the same color as his. "Yeah…" To his own surprise, he almost enjoyed being with Hunter. To anyone else it wouldn't make sense, even to himself, it didn't make sense, but he liked it.
“Milo-“ Hunter cut himself off, already turning red again. Idiot, idiot, idiot- Hunter was a complete idiot for even thinking. “Never mind,” He said quickly, biting his lip nervously.
Milo was ready to hear what Hunter had to say, but was quickly confused after he stopped. "Okay…?" He quickly looked down at the ground then back up. "Do you think it's been 30 minutes yet?… I just want to get off."
Hunter quickly busied himself with grabbing his phone out of his pocket to check the time. “It’s been a half hour… where are they?” Hunter muttered as he slipped his phone into his pocket. He tried sitting up a little bit, looking over the fairgrounds. There. Pulling into the property was a fire truck, a man on the top already. “Looks like they’re coming,” Hunter told Milo as the fire truck pulled up, the lift already rising and getting the people towards the bottom of the ride. A couple of cheers could be heard as the firemen started getting people down.
Milo smiled while watching the firemen. "Thank god." The firemen worked their way through the ride, finally getting to Hunter and Milo. Slowly he unbuckled himself, letting Hunter get off before him.
Hunter quickly unbuckled himself, carefully sitting up against the seat. The fireman held out an arm for him to grab and he swiftly jumped onto the platform. The fireman held an arm out to Milo after Hunter was safely aboard. He couldn’t help but feel super anxious for some reason as he held his breath as he waited for Milo to get to the safety of the platform.
Milo scooted over to where Hunter had been previously sitting. He slowly put out his hand to grab the fireman's hand. Shakily, he stood up. He looked down at the gap between the ride and the platform, then back up to the fireman. He looked over to Hunter with fear in his eyes. "I-I can't… I can't do this…" Milo quickly sat down again, letting go of the fireman. He may have underestimated his fear of heights a little when deciding to go on the ride. All he wanted was to be safe on the ground, but he just couldn't get to the platform, to many things could happen
“Come on, don’t worry, the platform is safe,” The fireman said, offering his hand.
Hunter subconsciously bit his, inching towards the edge of the platform too and holding out both his hands. “Milo, I’ll catch you if you fall,” Hutner told him. A promise. “Plus how am I going to go see you at your quiz bowl tournament if you’re stuck up here for the rest of the week?” Hunter joked, a smile inching up on his face.
Milo looked up at Hunter, making eye contact, a little buzz appearing in his chest. Feeling a bit better, he stood up again, one hand grabbed the fireman's while the other grabbed Hunter's. This time he didn't make the mistake of looking between the platform and the ride. Shakily, he jumped off the ride and onto the platform, almost barreling into Hunter. The fireman moved on and Milo was basically in Hunter's arms, still shaking.
Hunter held Milo close to his chest, relief washing over him as he held onto him tightly. He found himself not wanting to let go. "See? That wasn't so bad," He mumured softly, scooting towards the edge of the platform as the fireman got another two people and lower the platform to drop them off on the ground.
Milo nodded into Hunter's chest keeping his arms tightly around Hunter as the platform lowered. When the platform hit the ground, he couldn't get himself to let go. His shaking was gone, but he was comfortable and he felt safe in Hunter's arms. Both of their chests were glowing super bright. It was getting dark and their chests were almost as bright as the lights illuminating the festivities, or at least Milo's was.
Hunter found himself not letting go. A fireman came over a few moments later, but she was clearly in a rush as she asked, "You two okay? Any injuries?"
"No, just a little shaken up," Hunter replied for both of them, adjusting his hood a little so it covered most of his face.
The firewoman left to go check on the others that were rescued, but not before adding, "Congrats on that, by the way," She pointed towards their growing chests. Hunter turned slightly red, yet didn't want to let go of Milo in the slightest.
Hunter adjusted himself so he could took Milo under his arm and asked softly, "Want me to drive you home?" Please. He couldn't help the feeling of wanting to stay with Milo for a little bit longer.
Milo smiled a little at the firewoman. "Yes, please… that would be great." Was he insane? He wanted to ride with Hunter he wanted to be with him. "But maybe we could stay here just a bit longer… maybe just walk around or something?" He asked looking at Hunter, hoping he would agree.
"I- Of course," Hunter said, surprised. "I can buy you something to eat, if you want," Hunter offered with a smile. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach, but Hunter tried to blame it on how the ride stopped. He'd never felt this way before, especially not with Milo. Milo, the nerd he had always looked upon as a know-it-all weirdo, was suddenly making Hunter feel nervous and protective.
"I… don't think I'll be eating tonight, I lost my appetite earlier. But if you're hungry you can go get something." Milo offered with a smile. What a turn of events that night was. By then it was dark and their chests were very bright. A few people kept looking at them, some happy, some congratulating them, some squinting from the light, and some just looked at them blank-faced. "Maybe we should leave… I don't like how many people are looking at us…" Milo said quietly to Hunter.
(I almost want someone to find out that Hunter is Hunter, even though he's trying so hard to make sure people don't notice him…)
(Ooo we could do that or I was also thinking some from the ride had taken a photo and put it on instagram, and they could be seen in the background (but maybe only Milo is distinguishable) and it goes viral around the school, so then Hunter’s friends tell him about it and think he should go beat him up or something and Hunter doesn’t know what to do. We could do both?)
“We shouldn’t let that stop us if you’d rather stay,” Hunter told him, although he did have to admit he was getting worried. He got lucky that not many people stuck on the ride with them weren’t from their school, but the more people that looked at Hutner and Milo, the more likely the chance they’d be recognized.
(ooo yeah! That's a good idea. We should definitely do that, maybe just one or two people notice Hunter and it's not a super big deal??)
Milo nodded. "Yeah, I suppose… maybe we could go over there and just sit down? Then we're not in the mass of people but we're still here. Whatever is okay though…" Milo said, pointing to some chairs and benches. More people looked at them a few waved to him while looking confused.
