Colton hugged her tightly, "You're pretty perfect too."
Colton hugged her tightly, "You're pretty perfect too."
"I'm not perfect…" she objected quietly.
"Nuh uh, yes you are," He rubbed his nose against hers, "And I'm gonna keep telling you until you believe it."
"I'll never believe it," she murmured.
"Nope, yes you will, even if it takes a hundred years you will." Colton insisted.
"I won't."
"Well I'm going to make it my mission to change that."
She blushed. "You can try…"
"And I will," He pecked her on the lips, "Come on, we need to get to class."
She was surprised he didn't question anything about her pop-star background, but she didn't push. Part of her had fought the idea of telling him, anyway. "You're right. Let's go," she agreed, somewhat reluctantly.
Colton interlaced his hand with hers, giving it a small reassuring squeeze as he led them backto the school building.
She smiled and kept pace beside him.
They made good time walking back and soon the bell rang for the next class.
"Bye," she said softly. Hannah and her crowd were standing behind Colton. They pointed at Paige and whispered.
"See you later beautiful." Colton placed a chaste kiss to her lips before he turned to glare at Hannah and her minions.
"Bye," she repeated. She began to walk towards her class. Discreetly, Hannah and her friends began to follow her.
Colton headed off to his class, completely unaware of what was happening.
Paige started to walk faster, but Hannah caught up to her and grabbed her shoulder to slam her against a locker.
"What's your deal?" Hannah snarled. "You think you're so great with your school transfer, and your super tough and protective boyfriend, but you're NOT!"
Paige whimpered.
"You're just a regular, ordinary, stupid girl!" Hannah leaned in close to her face. "Go back to where you came from. You're not wanted here. Now or ever."
Colton walked into class with a sinking feeling in his gut. He couldn't shake the feeling like something was wrong with Paige.
The girls stole Paige's backpack and rooted through it.
"Tell me if you find anything useful," Hannah ordered.
"Oh, I think I got something!" one of the girls, Clearie, spoke up.
Nope. He couldn't do it. He had to see if she was okay. He hurried out of class, luckily the teacher wasn't there yet so he hurried down the hall to find her.
"Let me see," Hannah said, holding out her hand.
"Please stop," Paige whispered.
"Why should I?" Hannah sneered. "There's no boy toy here to protect you now."
Clearie examined her prize. "It's a tube of lip gloss that's never been opened. Weird."
Paige paled. Don't take that don't take that don't take that.
"Hannah!" a girl named Lillian squealed in a high pitched voice. "I found something too! It looks like… bracelets?"
"OhmiGod, you have jelly bracelets in your backpack?!" Hannah laughed.
"Stop it!" Paige begged.
"No, keep looking. Have you found anything Macy?" Hannah asked a snotty looking girl.
Macy smirked and held up a journal. "Looks like a diary to me, Hannah."
Hannah's eyes lit up. "Ooooh, give it to me!"
Colton was practically fuming at what he saw when he was close enough. But, for Paige's sake he pushed most of it down. He walked up behind Hannah and bent down so he could speak in her ear, "Tell your minions to put everything back otherwise I'll give you a black eye. And no, I don't cae that you're a girl, or that I'll get expelled, it'll be worth it."
Hannah paled. "Put the stuff back," she said weakly. She moved around him and pretended to help, but she snuck in a word to Macy and Clearie. "Hide the diary and lip gloss. Do it." Hannah stood and shoved Paige's backpack into her chest. "Here, loser," she snarled, then walked away quickly.
Colton glared at her before turning to Paige, "Hey, you okay? Do I need to hurt them for you?"
