She groaned, burying her face in his chest. How could she wait for their date?! She wanted him now.
No. She could be patient. She had this. Kai was just making it a little harder.
“You’re really testing my ability to hold back…” she whispered, looking up at him with a lust-filled gaze. It disappeared almost as quickly as it came, replaced instead with an innocent glance.
"Good," He leaned down a little, "I wouldn't want to make it easy on you now, would I?" He chuckled darkly before pulling away and grabbing her hand, going back to walking.
She huffed, pecking at his cheek. “You’re so mean” she said with a soft giggle, trying to cover up that darker part of her that lusted for him. She was going to keep this light and fluffy for now.
"I know. No need to tell me again." He grinned and giggled slightly as they finally, finally made it out of the god forsaken place. Kai breathed in a breath of fresh air and sighed contently, glad to be out even though he enjoyed spending time with Xio.
Xio took in a relieved breath. Her small form took in as much of the fresh air as it could before releasing it in a big sigh from her mouth. “We did it!” She said with a happy giggle, looking around for her father.
Gary was waiting for them by the moved car. She hummed softly, pulling her love interest with her towards him. “There He is.”
Kai laughed a little, nodding slightly, "Yes, we did," He said as he followed behind Xio and opened the car door for her, "As much as I hated that, it was kind of fun. Well, the spending time with you bit, not the scaring bit."
“Why thank you” She murmured, pulling him closer. “The scary bit was a no. But the hugging you for hours on end was a yes” she said with a teasing smile.
Kai chuckled and wrapped an arm around her, resting his cheek to the top of her head, "I agree. Let's not go back there. But if you want a hug then just ask and I'll give you one."
((Should we skip to the next day? Where she meets Kai’s family?))
Xio let out a soft purr, bringing a soft hand to her lips. She could still feel the buzz. It was driving her insane. “I’ll give you a hug when you need one too.” She replied, smiling softly.
(Sure thing- clears throat)
Time skip brought to you by Denzel and Levi getting on Kai's nerves.
"I swear to God Levi you are not scaring her when she arrives!" Kai was sitting with Denzel, playing some video game in the rumpus room while Levi sat on his phone, legs across both of his brothers knees… and getting on Kai's nerves.
Levi snickered, "Fine fine. You're the boss today." He gave his younger brother a two fingered salute, sinking down into the couch as he did so.
Denzel sighed, reaching over and punching his twin in the stomach, "Stop teasing him. You know he's nervous."
"Lo siento, lo siento." Levi replied, holding his stomach.
Kai had taught his brothers to be fluent in his native tongue so they could converse without Giselle and Damien knowing what they were saying. Almost like their secret language.
"It's fine. But just… be yourself when she gets here. And no flirting." Kai sighed.
(Ahaha perfect.)
Xiomara was a frantic mess.
She was running to and fro d still in her towel from her earlier shower. Her hair had been pulled into a half-up bun, the rest sculpted into tight curls. As she struggled to touch up her makeup, her mind wandered to the day before.
She lifted a hand, tracing her glossed lips with a quivering finger. His kiss had haunted her. She still couldn’t get it out of her head. She still couldn’t believe it had happened. Xio shook the thoughts away. She didn’t have time for this.
She watched the clock as she brushed on a careful coat of mascara, taking extra care to make her eyelashes appear longer than usual. It was nearing the time she would have to leave in order to make it on time. “Ah, I’m running out of time, Milo.” She told the silver ball of fur curled up on her bed.
Xio ran to the closet, pulling her towel tighter around her. She was alone but she still didn’t like standing completely naked. A few moments later and Xio had settled on a blue-flower patterned blouse and a pair of rather short shorts. She blushed at the reflection of herself in her mirror. Was it too much?
Levi held his hands up in defense at Kai's comment, "I would never baby bro."
"Juro que si lo haces, me siento golpeado con una cuchara y deformo tu cara."
That comment sent Denzel cackling so hard he died in his game, Levi had a look of pure shock on his face, causing Kai to just smirk and win the match.
He knew in his heart of hearts that neither of his brothers would make a move on Xio since they knew his feelings towards her. It was all just playful banter but some part of him was serious about it. His brothers were extremely good looking, so much so that Kai found it slightly intimidating.
While Levi was tanned with a mess of black hair that matched Kai's, same with his blue eyes that weren't quite as bright, Denzel had green eyes and a neatly cut mess of blonde hair. Both boys were taller then Kai and slightly more muscled but Denzel was the tallest of the three.
"Everything will be fine, stop worrying. We're not that weird." Levi said while Denzel rolled his eyes.
"You mean, I'm not that weird while you really are." The other twin replied.
She sighed. It would be fine. It was supposed to be warm outside anyways. She would be alright.
Xio left the house feeling nervous and a little intimidated. She never had siblings so she was unsure what to expect. Would they be rowdy or quiet while she was there? Maybe the twins would be intimidating or scary? Would Kai’s mother be kind or like Lynette? So many question buzzed and whirled in her brain it made her feel dizzy.
It took only a few short minutes for Xiomara to reach his doorstep. To her, it felt like hours. She stood staring at the door, wondering if she should knock or just turn away and run. She adjusted the flower crown atop her head, biting her lip and gently knocking. The butterflies in her stomach gave an uncomfortable lurch.
It took a moment, but soon a short, pale woman with a mess of red curls that fell to her waist and bright green eyes answered the door, smiling warmly at Xio, "Hello there! You must be Xiomara, correct?"
Xio nodded gently, tucking a curl behind her ear. “I am. It’s nice to meet you.” She replied politely, shifting nervously. “I’m glad I’m at the right place.” She joked, letting out a strained laugh. She had no clue what to do. He was so nervous she could practically hear her bones rattle.
The woman chuckled, her eyes creasing a little, "I'm glad you did too. I'm Giselle, Kyle's foster mother. The boys are in the rumpus room out the back, I'll lead you there." She ushered Xio inside, shutting the door behind them. It was then that Kai's shout could be heard from the other end of the house.
"Levi I swear to God get your trashy hands off my phone or I'll freeze your ass right now!"
"You would never baby bro you don't have the-" Levi suddenly stopped short and the sound was replaced by another boys howling laughter.
Giselle pinched the bridge of her nose, "Those boys…" She muttered.
“It’s nice to meet you Giselle.” Xio replied with a soft smile. She took her shoes off once inside, a habit her father had drilled into her. She took a look around, already enjoying the warmth of the home. “Thank you…”
The sound of Kai’s voice caused her head to snap in the direction of its source. She smiled, humming happily. “They sound rowdy. Are they always like this?” She asked the foster mother, her brown eyes big and curious.
Giselle nodded, "Whenever those three are together, all hell breaks loose," She sighed and smiled softly, "The twins really bring out the wild side of Kai. When they aren't around he goes back to being his quiet self, barely even talking to Damien and myself. But it's a nice change when they are here with him."
Xio giggled softly. “It’s hard to imagine him wild.” She bit her lip, blushing st the thought. He had hinted towards that side of him a few times. Each time he had done so had been in a slightly dirty manner. Of course, she wasn’t going to tell his foster mother this.
“I’m not interrupting am I?” She asked softly, adjusting her blouse so it fell evenly to her thighs. This one was a bit longer than the others.
Giselle quickly shook her head, "Of course not, dear. Kai has been frantic all morning and I think the twins managed to relax him just slightly." She led Xio to the back room, passing a door that seemed to have quite a few locks and dents in the metal door but she didn't bother to stop.
She pushed open a wooden door so it was wide open to reveal a quite spacious rumpus room. There was a TV in one side, along with lots of bookshelves over flowing with books. There was a few old arcade games in one corner, along with a pool table and Alba's toys, cage and bed.
Denzel and Kai were currently sprawled out on a large red bean bag, laughing their heads off while Levi stood over them with his hands on his hips, scowling. Kai had frozen his mouth over so he couldn't talk.
Giselle coughed once and the boys looked over, Levi's scowl turning into a mile as he waved at Xio, Denzel doing the same as he continued to laugh, "H-Hey Xio!" Kai managed to breath out as his laughs turned into giggles.
She frowned. Had he been frantic too? That was one thing the two had in common for their morning. Xio’s eyes lingered on the metal door, wondering what it was for until the wooden door was creaked open. She peeked inside, tilting her head.
It was way better than anything she owned. They barely could make the one tv they had work half the time. Her eyes settled on the boys, a warm smile crossing her face. Kai was so cute when he smiled. “Hi Kai.” She replied, stepping into the room and pulling at her blouse once again, suddenly self conscious. Was it too much? Did she long strange or overbearing?
The biggest question she asked herself was when had she started caring so much? Did she really want to look her best in front of Kai? Of course she did. She wanted him to think she looked nice, or pretty, or cute. She wanted him to notice her as a female.
Giselle smiled, "I'll leave you to it." She said, heading out the room. She started to close the door but left it ajar just slightly.
"Xio, meet the twins. Denzel," Kai motioned to the blonde.
"Hey there!" His Australian accent was quite pronounced on just two words.
"And Levi," He pointed to the brunette who was now facing Kai and scowling again, "Okay okay!" He clicked his fingers once and the ice started to slowly disappear. Once it did Levi sighed loudly and collapsed onto the three seated couch.
"Don't ever do that again mate." The older male said, crossing his arms.
"I won't if you don't touch me phone again." Kai retorted, sticking his tongue out at Levi who did it right back.
She waved to each brother. Sure she did admit they were good looking but they just weren’t her type. She liked messy hair and glasses. She liked Kai.
With a soft giggle, she remained by the door, watching the two interact with a curious gaze. She tucked a curl behind her ear, now wishing she had pinned it back. “It’s nice to meet you two. I’m Xiomara.”
"The pleasure is ours. Please, sit, we aren't gonna bite you know." Levi gestured to the seat next to him, patting the cushion and smiling widely. Denzel and Kai were still sprawled out on the bean bag in a tangled mess off limbs. Honestly you couldn't tell who's leg was who's at this point.
"So, how'd you meet our precious baby brother?" Denzel asked, ruffling his hand through Kai's hair only to have it batted away.
“Maybe you do bite and I’m unaware of that.” She giggled softly, moving to take a seat on the couch, folding her legs up beneath her. With a small smile she recalled how they had met. “I ran into him in the cafeteria when he was having a little bit of a frosty problem.”
Xio traced her lips again. It was hard to hide the giddy smile on her face. “He was too shy to be something dangerous. So of course I wanted to learn more about him.”
