It was a quiet, rainy day in the Villages. Some of the children were just outside of their homes, playing in the rain, while most villagers were staying inside. It was a normal day, and the Villages were completely normal, and the forest was completely normal.

Or at least, that’s what everyone else thinks. Nobody outside of the Villages knows about the disappearances. Nobody knows about the Ghosts. And we’re keeping it that way. Nobody has come in or out of the Villages in years.

And we definitely don’t talk about the recluse in Ferncombe. He keeps to his business, and we keep to ours. He hasn’t returned to society ever since the incident.

And… we think he’s behind the disappearances.

Resh sat cross-legged in the grass, staring at the sky. It was a nice, quiet day. No one was around in this weather, but nobody approached him anyways. They were too scared. Better for him, he hated people. His hood was lowered, his cloak blowing in the breeze. He closed his eyes as the raindrops hit his face.

All of the residents of Ferncombe were afraid of him. They thought that he was responsible for the disappearances, which he thought was incredibly stupid. If nobody went near him, how could he kidnap them or kill them? It didn’t take sense. But it was better than everyone trying to talk to him every time he stepped outside. The main problem was the other villages. They didn’t know as much about these rumors, and treated them as what they were: fiction. Some people from the surrounding villages try to talk to him, usually asking a lot of questions. It got annoying quickly.

Resh opened his eyes again and sat up a little straighter, pulling out one of his knives. He stared at it for a few moments before hearing footsteps. He tilted his head to one side, confused. It sounded like someone was approaching him. Great.

She approached with soft foot falls, not wanting to alarm this stranger, but as he pulled out his knife she raised her hands in a sign of peace. "I mean you no harm sir," she states in a calm voice. She sits down near the stranger, giving a quick hand signal to the large wolf dog with her. The big canine looks at the man with mild interest as he slips next to his master. " Well I guess it's a good time to say my name I'm Litherelm Wolfwalker sir. And you are…?"

Emayra tried to suppress her panic, to no avail. The lantern-light of Lyaphire faded into the fog behind her as she ran. "Kalli!" she called, her voice breaking. "KALLI!"
This was all her fault, she thought as she ran. Kalli was her charge, and-
her foot caught in a patch of mud and she stumbled, water from her hair streaming into her eyes. "Kalli!"
Emayra took a shaky breath. "no…"
Something moved in the fog in front of her, and she frowned. "Hello? Kalli?" No, the figure was too big to be the young elf girl. in fact, there appeared to be two figures. She took off at a jog. "Hello! Excuse me!"
