Anya gave the president a look. “Not to be pushy, President McCallister, but if I remember correctly, if it weren’t for us, you’d have a bullet in your head.”
Lilly wiggled around in her seat. “I’m boorrreeddd,” she complained. “And hunnggrryyy.”
Director Barns chuckled at Lily. "Mr. President, if you would like, I can have someone get you and your daughter somewhere with food and entertainment."
McCallister sighed. "Fine… But I will be going with Lily."
"Of course. I'd have it no other way," the director declared. He called someone to his office, and soon enough a blonde woman came and retrieved the pair.
Anya waved goodbye to Lily, who cheerfully waved back. As the two left, Anya heard Lily ask her dad, “Daddy, where are we going? Is there gonna be grilled cheese?”
Smiling, Anya met Director Barns’s eyes. “We are ready for debrief, sir.”
The director must have heard the girl's question, too, because he was smiling.
"Of course." He nodded, reaching to call for someone. "You both can go debrief in one of the debriefing rooms. I'll call someone to meet you over there."
“Thank you,” Anya said, inclining her head towards him. She turned to Spencer. “Shall we?”
Spencer held out his arm for Anya with a wink. "That we shall, M'lady."
Director Barns watched with amused interest as the pair of spies stepped out of his office. From what he'd noticed, they'd worked well together. He might just have to pair them up more often…
//yAY I LOVE EXECUTIVE DECISIONS THAT FURTHER THE PLOT AND ARENT BIASED
:P
“After you,” Anya said, laying her hand on Spencer’s elbow and allowing him to guide her out of the office. “To debrief we go!”
(Lol. Biased? What? Totally not biased… coughs)
Spencer laughed. "Yes, here we go! Now, let's hope we don't get in trouble for having to make a decision about the president without asking the director," he murmured the last part under his breath.
//lol XD
“Okay, well, to be fair…” Anya started, but she let her voice trail off. “You know what, I’ll save it for if they ever find out.” She smiled at Spencer.
"They'll find out, and you know it as well as I do. You know what they ask us about. They don't leave anything in the dark. In fact, they'll probably ask us about… Well, uh… About us…" Spencer stated, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
“And that is embarrassing… how?” Anya smirked, kissing his cheek. “I’d love to detail the progression of our relationship. And even if they do ask about the president, we’ve been trained to make the hard call under pressure. It’ll be fine.”
Spencer's face grew red even as he grinned. "It's not necessarily embarassing, per say, but I mean, it's personal. They don't really need to know that much about our personal lives, do they?"
Anya shrugged. “Isn’t that our job? But yeah, you’re right. We don’t need to lead with us, per se. Maybe the lady we left behind at the White House. Or we could just start from the very beginning. That’s a very good place to start, you know.”
"Of course the beginning is a good place to start," Spencer chuckled. "In fact, it's probably the best place to start."
//did you get the reference
“Precisely,” Anya agreed. They were nearing debrief room B. “Alrighty. You know, I’ve never liked debrief.”
(…no…?)
Spencer shrugged. "Actually, I didn't know that. At least we'll be in there together, right?
//sadness
Have you ever watched the Sound of Music?
“Right,” Anya agreed, slipping her hand in his. “As long as they let us. Which, if we play our cards right, could be forever. Just sayin’.”
(Nope, I have not.)
Spencer gently squeezed her hand and smiled softly at her. "Forever is a very long time," he teased quietly with a wink. "Shall we go in?"
//aww
“Guess we have to,” Anya sighed, opening the door.
(You totally didn't see my reference, did you? Lol.)
A pair of high-ranking spies sat at a stainless steel table in the small, white room. Two chairs water for Spencer and Anya across from them, and the former led the latter over. He politely held her chair out for her.
//XD nope i am blind
Anya nodded, a small smile gracing her lips, before sitting down. the high-ranking spies remained silent, which kinda creeped Anya out. That had never happened before…
(It was from Winnie the Pooh lol.)
"Ms. Romanova, Mr. Attwood, please go through the details of your mission. You both know the drill, by now, having been here for as long as you have," the male spy said as Spencer took his seat across from him.
(Should we skip to when they're done?)
//gotcha :D
Sure
What do I say
Ill just put something
Anya immediately began talking, keeping her voice measured and devoid of emotion. Soon enough, the debrief was over.
(Lol. Short and to the point. ;P)
"You both may go," the woman across from Anya said, standing.
Spencer stood as well. "Thank you," he said, then offered his hand to Anya.
//:P
Anya accepted it, letting Spencer guide her to the door. The two spies had left via a concealed exit, so Anya said, “Well, that went well.”
