“Definetly,” Anya agreed, but her grip on her dagger did not slacken.

The last of the cows crossed the road, but traffic didn't start moving again.
"Why aren't we moving? What's going on?" Spencer asked through clenched teeth.
“There’s a— police siren? Is it a traffic break?” Anya asked, biting her lip.
"It's a somethin'," Spencer mumbled, peering ahead. "It looks like…" He trailed off, his eyes widening. "We need to get out of here. That looks like a bomb."
Spencer yanked the van into reverse and somehow managed to maneuver his way out of the congested traffic.
“Go, go go,” Anya urged, unbuckling her seatbelt. “Don’t worry about Lily and McCallister, I’ve got them.” She nimbly leapt into the backseat, but President McCallister shook his head.
“Protect Lily,” he instructed. Anya had no choice but to obey.
“Yes, sir,” she mock-saluted, wrapping herself around the young girl and holding her close. “Don’t worry, you’ll be alright,” Anya reassured her.
(I'm so sorry, I thought I responded last night!)
Spencer spun the van around so that he was driving the wrong way down the road.
"There's a back route we can take, but it'll add some time," he explained.

“Okay. Just be less… obvious,” Anya said, still holding Lily.
Spencer scoffed with a smirk. "That's my middle name," he joked, his grin not reaching his eyes. "But, of course, I'll do my best to not get us caught."
“You have as much charm as the monkey that attacked me in Taiwan,” Anya muttered.
"Well, then it must have been a very charming monkey." Spencer winked, trying to make the situation lighter by joking.
“Actually, I was wearing a bright scarf thing, and it thought I was food,” Anya countered. “Very much not charming.” But she still smiled at him.
Spencer snorted. "Okay, okay… Oh, hold on to something. This is a sharp turn," he said, right before he turned sharply to the left.
Thankfully, Anya was wearing a seatbelt this time, so she did not, for once, get thrown against the car. She did hold tightly to Lily, preventing her from injuring herself. “We’re okay back here,” Anya said, after checking President McCallister. “Are you at least driving on the right side of the road now?”
(I'm so fricking tired… I have 24,160 steps… Probably more, too. So. Much. Walking.)
"Yes, I'm driving on the right side of the ro– Wait, hold on," Spencer cut himself off to swerve over. "Yes, I'm on the right side of the road."
Anya couldn’t help but smile. “Good. How far?”
//aww man I’m sorry
(Lol. Yeah, and then I woke up at 6:30, only to realize that I got to work 3.5 hours early.)
Spencer bit his lip as he thought. "About fifteen minutes to the main road. To our destination… It could be a few hours…"
//aww
“Okay. I think I’ll stay back here…” Anya glanced at the President. “If that’s okay with you, sir,” she added.
President McCalister nodded. “Of course.”
“Thank you. Lily, are you okay if I stay back here with you?” Anya asked the girl snuggled in her arms.
Lily nodded, and Anya smiled.
"You all should sleep. At least for a little while," Spencer said as he drove. "You too, An– Leslie."
“I don’t want to leave you alone… promise me you’ll wake me up if something happens?” Anya asked, ignoring his blunder.
"Of course," Spencer agreed with a nod. If anything, he felt like she'd wake up herself, without his help. With their luck, it would be something loud.
“Okay.” It went against Anya’s better judgement to lose control and focus during a mission, especially one as important as this, but she was exhausted, mentally and physically. Plus, she was still sore from the car accident. Anya let herself be convinced, and quickly fell asleep. To be fair, it was like six AM.
When Spencer looked back in the mirror, he saw Anya asleep and smiled to himself. Lily was once again sleeping in her arms, and the president had also fallen asleep.
Turning his attention to driving once more, he continued on his way to the main road, quickly reaching it.
Anya woke up a couple times within the next two hours, but she was able to fall back asleep pretty quickly. The fifth time she woke up, it’d been two hours exactly, and she offered to drive.
Spencer blinked tiredly and nodded his agreement. Pulling over to the side of the road, he got out, holding the door for Anya to get in.
"Thank you. I guess I need rest more than I thought," he admitted sheepishly with a slight laugh.
“See, this is why I’m the super-spy and you’re the slightly less experienced super-spy,” Anya joked, getting in the front seat.
