(Oof. Hey, I'm getting my hair cut, so I won't be on so much.)
(Oof. Hey, I'm getting my hair cut, so I won't be on so much.)
Spencer started to actually eat his food, the only thoughts of his parents tucked away for a different time.
(Should we skip?)
//sure
(How 'bout to the next morning, before they leave?)
//works for me
(You start?)
//ok
Anya hit the button to snooze her alarm and rolled out of bed groggily. “Why did I have to say dawn? Why?” she muttered.
Spencer, as much as he would have liked to sleep in, had been awake for about fifteen minutes and was down in the kitchen making food from whatever he could find. Had he not been forced to take home economic in high school, he would have been very frustrated.
Anya quietly got dressed, packing a small bag with a change of clothes once she was done. She braided her hair and wound it up on the back of her head, hoping that it would stay out of her way, and walked to the kitchen, her bag slung over one shoulder.
Spencer glanced over at Anya from the stove, where he had some fruit cooking in a pan.
"'Morning, Peaches," he greeted her with a smirk.
“And the same to you, Sir I’m-Going-To-Cook-Breakfast-At-Four-AM,” Anya replied, mirroring his smirk.
"What can I say? I like to eat when I wake up," Spencer said with a shrug. "Do you want any of this?"
“Sure. Smells good,” Anya said, sitting down on a barstool.
Spencer filled a couple of plates and set them on the table. He sat across from Anya, giving her a small smile.
"Let me know what you think," he said before taking a bite.
Anya shoved a forkful in her mouth. “Good.”
(I AM SO SORRY, I WAS BABYSITTING AND DIDN'T HAVE MY LAPTOP W/ME!
And my iPod doesn't have the WiFi set up there, either, so… It was a long night.)
"Good. Thanks," Spencer mumbled around a mouthful of food, nodding.
//I’m so sorry that sounds miserable! No worries :)
Anya nodded, swallowed, and stood up. “I’d better go get Lilly and her dad. We should get going.”
Spencer nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Hopefully they can eat quickly. Or we can bring something for them, and they can eat on the road…"
“Good idea. I’ll go get them.” Anya left the room.
(Oh my gosh…
I hate it when I do this.
I'm so sorry, I meant to respond earlier, but my brain didn't want to think of words.)
Spencer watched Anya leave with a sigh, then looked down at his plate. He frowned slightly as he took another bite of his food, thinking about all the ways this mission could go wrong.
//XD no worries
Anya gently woke up Lily and told her to wake up her dad. When Lily had done that, Anya told her that she could wear her slippers out if she hurried and came to the kitchen to eat breakfast. Lily readily agreed, and Anya returned to the kitchen, where she saw Spencer staring down at his food, not eating it.
“Why so sad, Spence?” Anya asked.
"Oh. I was just… thinking. That's all," Spencer explained vaguely, looking up at Anya. He took another bite of his food and nearly went back to staring into space before he caught himself.
“‘Bout what?” Anya asked, taking another bite of food herself. She could tell that something was off… she just didn’t know what.
"Nothing. It's nothing. Do t worry about it," Spencer assured Anya. He didn't want to bother her with his thoughts, not now when they were about to leave.
“Mhmmm,” Anya said knowingly. “You know, by denying it, you’re just enforcing that it’s true.”
