Skye nodded, Let's get out of here then whi- he was cut of by the yelling of the hunters behind them, pushing Lucas off of his lap he shifted to wolf form, standing over him protectively.
Lucas cowered under Skye, although he could tell the hunters were intimidated by the huge wolf. He couldn't fight in this condition.
Skye snarled at them, attempting to scare them off. But it didn't work as they crept in closer, weapons drawn.
Lucas growled as well, but it didn't do much. The hunters approached Skye and all attacked at once.
Skye retaliated, clawing and biting as many as he could reach.
A hunter came up behind Skye and tried to stab him, but Lucas quickly ran through Skye's legs and tackled the man to the ground, biting down on the shaft of the spear to try and prevent the hunter from hurting Skye.
Skye growled, a bit too busy with the hunters at his front to help Lucas, but just then good old Marco came through, dragging the hunter away from lucas, having taken the form of a wolf, slightly smaller than Skye.
Lucas retreated back underneath Skye, panting. Most of the hunters seemed to be either incapable of fighting or run off by now.
Skye disabled the last one, standing there, panting for only a moment before moving to pick Lucas up by the scruff, We need to get further away from here, before anything else happens… he told both Lucas and Marco.
(Sorry, I was finishing my summer cleaning…)
Lucas hummed in agreement, staying in a position that made it easiest for Skye to carry him. Some of his fur was stained with his own blood, but the wounds had at least clotted by now.
Skye kept a tight hold on the other's scruff, setting out at a strong pace with Marco on his tail.
Lucas lay down on the ground once they made it back to the cave and began licking his wounds. It was something he'd seen dogs do when injured, but it left a metallic taste in his mouth.
Skye hummed, curling lightly around him, starting to help with the injuries.
Lucas lay against Skye weakly when he'd finished, blood oozing slowly from the wounds again. His breathing was still erratic and he was completely exhausted.
Skye continued licking the wounds clean, then wrapping around him to keep him warm. We can't risk staying too long… si as soon as you've recovered some we're moving out again… he told him gently.
Lucas nodded. We can move out as soon as we need to… you'd be carrying me, after all. He nuzzled into Skye's thick fur, his tongue sticking out a bit.
"You need time to recover first…" he said firmly, keeping him close.
"I'm okay, really… just flesh wounds." Lucas wrapped his front legs around Skye as best he could, almost like he would if he were in human form. It was just a bit more difficult because of the size difference.
Skye nuzzled him, "True
, but the cold won't help with your injuries, so It's best to let you warm up first…"
"Alright…" Lucas nestled further into Skye's fur to make Skye content, warming himself. He had to admit that it felt nice.
Skye couldn't help smiling at that, wrapping around him.
(Lucas is so very smol he's just like, getting lost in fur)
I like being a dog, but I hope I'll heal soon so I can be more helpful… Lucas thought to himself, dozing off. He knew for sure he wouldn't leave the cave alone again.
Smye let him sleep, eventually moving away to let Marco scoop him up, then mount. Carefully he padded out into the snow, continuing on their journey.
(Marco is holding Lucas and riding Skye in an attempt to keep Lucas warm.)
(Aight)
Lucas shivered and held as tightly to Marco as he could in dog form, not wanting to fall off or hinder Marco. It was freezing out here and the air stung against his raw wounds.
