Lucas woke up in the middle of the night to loud sparking and popping noises. He realized that they were coming from him and he stumbled away from Skye, breathing heavily. He figured that he'd had a nightmare and his powers were acting up. The magic was starting to swirl around him, looking like it was going to explode soon as before.
Skye slept quietly, but stirred when Lucas pulled out of his grasp.
"No, no, no… p-please not now…" Lucas whispered to himself, covering his head with his hands. The magic just got louder and more powerful, glowing brightly and sticking out like a sore thumb in the darkness of the night.
Skye eventually woke up, blinking in surprise when he saw Lucas. "hey…. you okay?" he asked gently, rubbing sleep out of his eyes.
Lucas shook his head and moved back a bit more. "Stay… s-stay away… I can't control it." A tear rolled down his cheek, which he quickly brushed away. "I-I don't want to hurt you. Ah!" Lucas accidentally set fire to the grass around him. The flames grew since he didn't calm down, and he was stuck within the circle of flame.
Skye blinked in surprise, his face set with determination as he suddenly summoned his own aura, wrappin a thin layer around himself, then warping to the other's side, setting up a shield around them so the flames wouldn't spread. "How many times do I have to tell you…. I ill never leave you alone when you're hurting.."
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" Lucas whispered over and over, hiding his face in his hands. He seemed terrified of something and not fully there. He stared incredulously at his shaking hands, although his eyes wouldn't properly focus, and magic still came from his body. He didn't like being trapped in the forcefield with Skye since he couldn't currently control his magic.
Skye lessened the focefield, realizing the other might not like it, staying beside him comfortingly.
Lucas quickly formed separate forcefields around himself and Skye, for Skye's protection. His magic built up and exploded within Lucas's forcefield, shattering it instantly.
Skye reinforced his own shield, reaching outside of it, then bending it to lay a hand on the other's shoulder, trying to comfort him.
Lucas's clothes were singed and he was barely conscious by now, but he didn't seem to have sustained any serious injuries. He held onto one of Skye's hands weakly.
Skye anted to pull him back into his arms, but he wasn't sure if that would actually help, or harm the other.
Lucas lay his head on Skye's shoulder, the flames around them dying down as his consciousness faded. He fell limp and the clearing was submerged in darkness once more.
Skye sighed, pulling him closer out of instinct, unsure of how to help.
(You can probably just take him back to camp since he's unconscious lol)
Lucas seemed to be a little more relaxed in his unconscious state, if nothing else. His long hair was disheveled, as opposed to its normally neat state. Despite Lucas's rough living condition from before, he'd always put forth some effort to maintain his hair for some reason.
Skye hummed, getting up to head back to camp, cradling the other.
Marco had woken up by now and looked up at Skye, confused. "What happened to Lucas?"
"Magical outburst" he said softly.
"When? It's like, two in the morning? How the hell did he get worked up enough?"
(He has anxiety and is an emotional wreck okay Marco)
"I don't know" said Skye simply, "It could've been anything…"
Marco sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Whatever… we can ask him at a reasonable hour. I'll keep watch."
Skye nodded, laying down with Lucas
Lucas found himself next to Skye when he woke up at dawn, holding tighter to him. He winced when he moved, remembering what had happened in the early hours of the morning. Everything still hurt.
Skye had been up for awhile, holding Lucas quietly. Looking down at him as he stirred he gently rubbed the other's back, trying to help.
Lucas flinched slightly when Skye's hand moved, not expecting the other to be awake, but he soon relaxed. "I'm sorry… about everything."
