"B-But what if they come back? I don't know if I've got the energy to heal you again…"
"B-But what if they come back? I don't know if I've got the energy to heal you again…"
"We'll be ready for them next time," said Skye firmly, hugging Lucas, "I promise you're not gonna lose me that easy."
Lucas pulled away, rubbing at his eyes. "I'm… I'm sorry… I-I wish I could've been more helpful. Then maybe you wouldn't have gotten hurt…"
Skye hugged him tightly, "Lucas you were amazing okay! getting hurt is just what happens in a fight, and we never would've escaped that unscathed…"
"Are you sure?" Lucas asked softly. He couldn't help but feel like it was partially his fault. Maybe he got caught in the blast radius of one of my attacks…
"I'm sure…" he said, "Though I have to say I need more practice using my own abilities…" he sighed, "I shouldn't have fainted.."
"I'm not super confident with mine either… honestly, it's risky trying to use powerful magic the way I did." Lucas was emitting small bursts of light by now. "Oh yeah, and that happens when I get worked up."
Skye sighed, "I have the opposite problem…" he said softly, "My magic is powerful, strong enough that I can have a hard time controlling it."
"Well, I think my magic might actually be quite powerful… I just suppress it so much that it can be hard to tell. I'm a bit scared of it, really… I typically have trouble controlling it if I'm scared or angry."
Skye hummed thoughtfully, "Maybe we can help with that… using it more might help…"
Lucas nodded, a burst of light shocking Skye lightly. "Ah! I-I'm so sorry!" Lucas fell back a bit, closing his hands in hopes that the magic would stop.
Skye winced as it happened, but quickly pulled the other back to him. "Alright, try copying me," he said, "Summon a small ball of this power" he said, summoning a ball of his own.
Lucas hesitated before holding out his hand, summoning a small ball of fire. He was capable of making it much larger, of course, but he was afraid to try.
Skye nodded, carefully manipulating his into a strin, like clay, controlling it so no part of the essence escaped.
Lucas tried to do the same, but his magic flared and backfired, throwing him backwards onto the ground.
Skye was instantly at his side, pulling him close, "You'll get it…"
Lucas sat up, wincing slightly. He let Skye help him to his feet and tried again, this time using light magic instead of fire. It was less likely to backfire and hurt him. He formed the ball and slowly stretched it as Skye had done.
Skye smiled, picking it up again, before weaving it into a design.
"I-I'm scared…" Lucas said quietly, staring intently at the magic in his hands. As he got more nervous, it started to swirl and spark.
(Basically his magic is closely tied to his emotions, and he's an emotional wreck lol)
"It's okay" said Skye calmly, "Just let it flow…"
(Awweeee)
(That's why using his magic can be a bit dangerous because he gets scared XD)
"I-I can't, it'll blow up!" The magic enveloped his hands and continued swirling dangerously. Lucas was beginning to panic now, which just made the magic grow more and start flashing.
Skye laid his hands over the other's, "Calm down, it's only reacting cause you're panicking…" he said softly in the other's ear, "Just calm down."
"Skye, y-you need to step back!" Lucas quickly moved away before the magic covered his entire body and exploded outwards, knocking over a couple nearby trees. When the dust cleared, Lucas was curled up in the center of it all, terrified.
Skye blinked insurprise, he had whipped up a shield when he sensed the surge in power. "Lucas? Are you alright?" he asked gently, creeping closer to him.
Lucas covered his ears with his hands, closing his eyes as a few tears rolled down his cheeks. "I'm sorry… I-I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…" He whispered, more to himself than anyone else.
