"Mm… yeah. We're supposed to be professional and do our training and keep quiet about our feelings. Definitely not very touchy or affectionate." Joey sighed softly and huddled closer to Sol. "Doesn't help that we're all so fragile because of our hollow bones. I've cracked bones more times than I can count, honestly."
“Joey…” Sol murmured softly, hating that he had been hurt so often and had not been comforted. Gently wrapping his other arm around the small angel’s waist, Sol nuzzled his hair. “I’m sorry that’s how you’ve had to live. I’m a decent healer, especially for wings, so feel free to come to me when you get hurt, okay?”
Joey seemed pretty confused, but not displeased by the extra affection. "It's honestly fine, Sol. Not just a me thing." He laughed softly. "Angels in general get hurt a lot. We're in battles pretty often, so…" He shifted his wings and curled them around himself a bit to get more comfortable.
Sol’s brow furrowed and he held Joey closer. “Even so, i’ll be there if you need me,” he said, lifting a wing to cover the angel protectively. “I’ve seen my fair share of battles, too.”
"Mmmmm…" Joey closed his eyes and relaxed, seeming comforted by the protective position. "Alright, then… thanks." It reminded him a bit of when he was a kid; he hadn't really been held like this since then.
Sol hummed softly and pressed a kiss to Joey’s head. “Of course”
It had only been a day and already he was so protective of the angel. Unusual, but not entirely surprising for him. Gently rubbing circles on Joeys back, Sol closed his eyes.
Joey had been alone for so long that, although the situation was unusual, he liked having someone who wanted to protect him. It made him feel wanted and appreciated; like he wasn't just some forgettable face at the bookshop. He yawned a bit and buried his face in Sol's chest, humming happily.
Sol smiled at the angel, warmth filling his chest. Why did it take me so long to find you?
Feeling more relaxed than he had in a long time, Sol started to doze off, arms still wrapped around Joey.
Joey soon drifted off to sleep in Sol's arms, curled up and content. His hair was still very fluffy from having just showered, and his oversized clothes were unkempt.
(We can timeskip to when they wake up if you want aha)
(lol yeah)
Sol slowly woke, blinking blearily. Where-
Feeling something warm press against him, he looked over and saw Joey next to him. Smiling softly, he glanced over at the clock and saw that it was mid afternoon. He couldn’t remember the last time he slept so well.
Carefully shifting so as not to wake Joey, he stretched his wings and sighed happily.
Joey stirred a bit when Sol awoke, yawned and stretching. It took him several seconds to open his eyes and look up at Sol blearily. "Mmmm…?" He flushed a bit upon noticing him, pulling back. "S-Sorry! I… uh… I must've fallen asleep…"
Sol smiled warmly, taking Joey’s hand and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. “it’s fine, i fell asleep, too,” he said, now running his through his messy bed hair. “best i’ve slept in a while, actually.”
Joey flushed harder and hid his face in his free hand. "W-Well, I… uh… I'm glad you slept well." He replied awkwardly. "Do you know what time it is?" He asked. "You must be hungry… I'm sure I've got something to eat around here somewhere."
Sol sat up, ruffling his wings and stretching. Maybe he was pushing his affections too far, they’d only met the day before after all.
“it’s around three,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to impose, I’ve already stayed over without being invited,” he looked over at the angel. “Forgive me, I can be too much sometimes.”
"You're welcome to stay as long as you like!" Joey assured him, sitting up as well. "Honestly, I don't have anything going on today and I never have visitors or anything. I'm sure you're hungry; I-I mean, you haven't eaten breakfast or lunch…" He said softly, oddly seeming to exclude himself from the statement. He was used to not eating breakfast or lunch, after all.
Sol frowned slightly, but didn’t mention Joey’s word choice. He would have to make sure that the small angel was getting enough to eat. “I can fix us something,” he said finally, emphasizing the word ‘us.’ “Or I can go grab something. what do you prefer?”
"Um… either is fine, honestly. I'm sure I've got something here, though…" Joey hesitated before getting to his feet, pulling on some sweatpants over his shorts and some fuzzy socks to keep himself warm before he headed out of his bedroom. The kitchen was pretty much right outside the door, and he started rummaging through the cabinets to find something that could make some actual food.
Sol followed him into the kitchen with a nod. Stars, he’s cute…
Leaning against the table, he watched the angel, not quite sure if he should help look. “What sounds good, Joey?” he asked.
If he likes it, he’ll eat more. He’s far too light…
"Mm… I dunno. I could make some Ramen." Joey shrugged a bit, opening up the fridge to look for food. "Or sandwiches, I dunno. I don't have anything super substantial here." He laughed softly and stretched, spreading out his wings in the process and nearly knocking a couple of things off of the counter.
Reaching to catch a cup tipping off the counter, Sol frowned slightly. “Maybe we could go out, my treat,” he said setting the cup down and shifting a couple other things out of the way. “It can make up for last night at the club and your hangover this morning.”
"Oh, y-you really don't have to make up for anything!" Joey insisted, folding his wings again. "I-I mean, if you'd prefer food out, that's fine, I just… don't want you to feel like you have to repay me anything."
Sol retracted his wings in a soft flash of light. “Please, let me,” he said, smiling gently. “Asking you to the club was a mistake on my part. Let me take you somewhere nicer.” And make sure you eat.
Joey sighed softly in resignation. "Alright, alright… how nice? I'll probably have to change…" He looked down at his hoodie and sweatpants with a contemplative hum. "I would lend you some clothes, but I'm not sure they'd fit you." He laughed weakly.
Sol huffed a laugh. “Probably not,” he agreed. “Don’t worry, it’s not fancy, just a nice diner. Wear whatever you want. We can stop by my apartment on the way and i can change”
"Alright, alright, I'll be right back…" Joey sighed softly and headed back into his bedroom for a couple minutes, soon returning in fresh clothes and somewhat combed hair. He had on a nice sweater with jeans and tennis shoes, and as he walked out, both his wings and the holes in the back of his sweater vanished with a glamour.
