Jack opened his mouth to make a comment, but decided against it. He shoved some bread into his mouth instead to stop him from saying anything.
Jack opened his mouth to make a comment, but decided against it. He shoved some bread into his mouth instead to stop him from saying anything.
Kade had glanced at Jack just as he had shoved bread into his mouth, and clapped sarcastically. "And Mr. I-Want-to-Starve-Myself eats at last! It's a miracle!"
Jack glared at him, flipping him off as he swallowed, “Just because I ate something didn’t mean that I enjoyed or wanted to do so.”
"You don't have to like it," Kade said, shrugging. "Just as long as you eat it."
“Why do you want me to eat so bad?” Jack huffed, mouth boarding on a pout as draw patterned on the table.
"Because, eating is important. I don't want anyone to say I'm a bad host, and I still have a lot of plans for you, and you're not going to get away with it so easily. I want you alive for the procedure."
(So… I had an idea…)
“Eating isn’t that important. Besides, I have a feeling I’ll be dead by the end of the week, anyway. It’s not like I’m going to tell anyone you’re a bad host if I’m dead.”
(Ooh! Let's hear it!)
"But I wanted to kill you!" Kade pouted, looking like a sad puppy. "You can't die without letting me kill you. It's not nice."
(So, Jack has this big fear of fire, right? So at the end of the week what if Kade realises he’s catching feelings for Jack and doesn’t want to kill him/can’t because of the whole soulmate thing. One of his followers takes it into his own hands to kill him and takes Jack away to burn him to death. Jack freaks and Kade has to come in and save him and that’s when he really realises he likes him. Jack being stubborn tries not to let Kade take care of him and his injuries but gives in and develops feelings back. Just an idea I had, we don’t have to do it aha)
Jack groaned, leaning back in the chair and closing his eyes with a sigh, “Fine! You can kill me! I guess it is your right after all.”
(YYYYYAAASSSS!!! I love that idea!)
"Good." Kade settled back into his chair. "Now that that's settled, I can go back to not worrying about losing you before I've had my way with you."
(Yayy :) )
He sighed, bringing one foot up onto his chair and resting an arms on it, "Yeah yeah, you're welcome I guess. Even though it's… my death."
(Let's do dis!)
"And?" Kade asked, not even looking at him. "You assume that I care?"
(Yess thank youu)
"I don't assume anything," Jack replied, "Because I know that you don't."
(No problem! I had no ideas… and I love that idea…)
"That's settled then," Kade said pleasantly.
(Time skips?)
(Sure, to which point? A little later in the week or to that idea?)
(…All of the above?)
(Lol okay)
To say Jack was scared was an understatement. Somehow, Kade had decided to not kill him yet and it put him on edge. He said he wanted to, and he still hadn't. From the interactions the two of them had had, they either went somewhat pleasantly or a down right disaster, mainly Jack's fault.
Currently, the small male was curled up on the couch in his room, drifting in and out of a light sleep and huddled up against a pillow. He didn't know how he could sleep, not with the looming threat of death so close.
Del moved quietly through the halls. Fury echoed through him, but instead of making him confused or irrational, everything was crystal clear.
His king wasn't killing the prisoner. That alone was a great offense to Del, and some of the others. Also, he was treating the prisoner like a guest. Del didn't know what was wrong, or why Hid Highness was acting this way, but he hated it.
Pulling a small torch from his belt, Del lit it. He had heard that the prisoner was afraid of fire, and he was going to test that theory. He placed the torch on the heavy wooden door and waited until it caught fire before hurrying away.
At first, Jack didn’t notice. But soon the fire grew too big from him not too. He sat up in a panic, eyes wide as fear ran through his body.
“No! No gods please not like this.” He scrambled to his feet, coughing as smoke filled the room and prevented him from breathing properly. The door was locked and there weren’t any windows. He couldn’t leave and nearly the entire room was encompassed in flame.
He didn’t know what to do. Couldn’t breathe couldn’t think. He was on the verge of tears as he tried to find some way out but ended up collapsing, fire burning his skin and coughing up everything in his lungs. He couldn't even call out for help. Not even for Kade.
Kade had been taking a walk when he smelled smoke. Curious, he went to go investigate, and found Jack's door on fire.
The door crumbled, revealing just some of what was happening on the inside. Along with what was now, an unconscious Jack.
(Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry! I forgot that I hadn't responded to this!)
Fury pounded through him, and Kade pulled his shirt collar over his mouth and nose and lept through the burning door. He scooped the unconscious Jack up easily, and turned back to the door. But the fire had risen harder, and he started to cough as the smoke grew thicker. Please work, he thought, concentrating hard.
Golden sparks flashed through the air, and the fire slid apart, as did the smoke, and he was free to carry the man through the doorway, into the hallway. He set Jack down gently, and then turned back to the fire, sweat sliding down his face, as the heat struck him. He held out his clenched fists in front of him, and slowly the fire sank and smothered itself. Golden sparks flashed through the air, moving among the fire, until it was extinguished.
Exhausted, Kade collapsed to the ground, leaning against the wall and panting hard.
(It’s all good)
In the new light, it was clear Jack had received some serious burns. Ash was smeared all over his ash and stuck to his clothes.
He stirred about five minutes after Kade pulled him out the room. His was still frightened, not knowing where he was or what had happened after the fire. But what he did know, was that he was in some serious pain.
"Idiots," Kade growled. After summoning some soldiers to carry Jack to the Healer's quarters, he went to his room, resting his head on the door, and clenched his fists.
Jack let himself we carried away, though watched Kade until the very last moment before he was out of sight. He looked… mad? Jack didn't know why he was if that was the case.
