Jack released a breath, smiling softly, "Thank you." He said quietly, standing up and placing the medical kit on the nearby table.
Jack released a breath, smiling softly, "Thank you." He said quietly, standing up and placing the medical kit on the nearby table.
"Why are you so concerned, anyway?" Kade asked, looking up at Jack, his golden eyes faintly glowing in the dark. "I captured you and forced you to fight a war for my people. I'm going to kill you. You should hate me, not try to save my life."
Jack swallowed, wrapping his arms around his middle with a small shrug, "You saved mine. Why can't I return the favor?"
"When? When did I ever save you?" He rubbed his eyes, grimacing. "I have never saved your life before."
Jack rolled his eyes, "So you're just gonna ignore the fact you could have let me die in that burning room," He shook his head and turned away, "I don't know why I even bother…"
"Well, it is my duty to keep all of the inhabitants of this building alive," Kade said with a shrug. "I don't know why you even bother either." The movement sent a burst of pain through his wound, and he pursed his lips, biting back a hiss of pain.
"Why have you got to be such an ass all the time? Just for once could you try and be nice or just kill me for fuck's sake! That's what you want anyway but you've been saying you want to savor it or whatever but you've been saying it for weeks now. Just.. just get it over and done with.. please.." Jack looked over his shoulder, trying to keep some composer but failing.
Kade raised an eyebrow. It was weird to see Jack not composed, so vulnerable. It was almost disconcerting. He pursed his lips. "Are you really that desperate to die?" He asked in a calmer voice.
“I can’t live like this Kade. I’d rather die then live in isolation with no one and with a man who can’t keep his promise to kill me.” He said quietly.
"I can keep my promise," Kade said, crossing his arms. "Isn't there anyone you want to go home to? Anyone you actually hold dear to you? There's more to life than emptiness."
Jack shook his head, resting against the back of a couch, “I don’t have anyone Kade. I don’t have a family, or a lover, or a best friend. I don’t even have a purpose anymore now that I’m stuck here. How’s that any different front death?”
"Well, if you're that desperate for death, why haven't you killed yourself already?" He asked, sounding mildly curious, and also a bit judgemental, and maybe a bit… sympathetic? But no. Kade was never sympathetic, ever…
Jack snorted, "You think I haven't tried? But if you say you're going to kill me why bother trying again." He glanced towards Kade before he shrugged, a look in his eyes making him look almost hollow.
"Then why haven't you succeeded?" He asked, voice a bit more snappish than he meant to. "If you hate life so much, why haven't you tried harder to die?"
“I have!” Jack shouted, “I’ve tried over and over and over and someone or something gets in the fucking way. A co-worker, a random person on a hunt in the woods, the fucking prince of my own kingdom,” He wiped at his eyes, “I just can’t win.”
“A prince in your own kingdom?” Kade laughed harshly. “Why don’t I just let you free. If you’re so insistent on dying, why don’t I just get a knife for you so you can stab yourself right here and now?”
“Go on then,” Jack narrowed his eyes, “Makes everything easier, anyway. Since clearly you’re not going to do it, taking into the amount of times you’ve put it off.”
Kade reached over, wound straining as he did so, and picked up his golden knife. The hilt had a golden dragon wrapped around it, and the blade was pure silver. It was made more for ornamentation than as a weapon. He studied it. “It’s times like these that I really wish I could kill you. It would make things so much easier, for both of us.”
“The fuck do you mean by that?” Jack held out his hand, waiting for the knife, “Go on then, hand it over. I want to get this over with.”
"So you haven't noticed? Good. That means my job is well done." He tossed the knife to Jack. "I hope you find happiness wherever you go."
Jack grabbed the knife, a confused look crossing his face, “What do you mean? You’re making no sense right now Kade.”
Kade threw his hands in the air. "I can't do this anymore. Seriously, just kill yourself, or get out of my sight." He rubbed his face with his hands, voice tired, barely more than a whisper. "I can't do this anymore," he said in a pained whisper. "I'm stuck with you, either way."
(So, this is just an idea that I found on Pinterest, but what if, after your soulmate dies, they turn into your… guardian angel, shall I say.)
(Oo yeah okay, so Jack dies but Kade can still see him and shit, gotcha)
Jack sighed, positioning the knife right above his heart, “Have a nice life Kade. Thanks for nothing.” He said, before he plunged the knife right though him.
(I dunno. Do we really want Jack to die, though?)
He felt it as if he had been stabbed himself. Kade doubled over, wincing, and then stared at Jack, eyes wide. He didn't think that he would actually do it…
(Maybe he’s not actually dead and there’s someone way to save him? Magic or some shit idk it’s possible)
Jack seemed to be full of more surprises then Kade thought, clearly. Though through some way, the knife had missed his heart, but he was still going to die, just in a matter of seconds.
