"Alright, alright!" Pitch held tightly to Uktakt so he wouldn't fall, waving to Nunan before they took off. "See you never, asshole! Have fun living down here in the underworld with whatever dad's so scared of!" He yelled down.
"Alright, alright!" Pitch held tightly to Uktakt so he wouldn't fall, waving to Nunan before they took off. "See you never, asshole! Have fun living down here in the underworld with whatever dad's so scared of!" He yelled down.
Sierra rolled her eyes at Pitch's statement and paused to think about the little information that her dad told her. "Dad, what are you so scared of? Why do we have to leave and why is grass green!?" Her voice got louder with every word until she was practically shouting. Sierra took a deep breath and cleared her throat, the terrifyingly calm exterior one again taking its place. She looked down over the Underworld. Dark scenery covered the ground and an even darker sky was above them. It was the only home she had ever known, and now she was being taken away from it with no real reason why.
"It just is, alright? Now hold on to me, and let's go!" he growled, stamping his foot on the ground once in a show of force. "Don't make me have to drag you, Sierra." he said.
"Calm down, damn. Nunan's letting us go, so we're gonna be fine, right?" Pitch shrugged a bit and held tighter to his father, eager to get going. "I don't wanna go either, but you know. It's not like we really get a choice, so we might as well get it over with as quickly as possible."
"What are you not telling us?" Sierra spat but she reluctantly latched onto her father.
"I'll explain when we're on the surface world." he said, beating his wings against dry air as he flew upwards, through the clouds to a rocky ceiling above. Uktakt broke through the rock, tearing and clawing his way up, destroying his hands in the process as blood and sweat dripped down his face. He couldn't keep this up for much longer, he knew, but he had to if only for the sake of his children.
Pitch cowered a bit on Uktakt's back, shielding his face with one arm as the shards of rock rained down on them. "Isn't there an easier way to get up that isn't likely to kill us? Ow!" A piece of rock hit his arm and he hissed softly in pain.
"I'm sorry, Pitch, I can't explain why but… well, this is your only way out." he continued to dig, speaking careful reassurances to his children through clenched teeth. Suddenly, they broke the surface, and Uktakt sighed in relief. He climbed them out of their hole, and into the bright light of a forest with stone pathways unlike anything Uktakt had seen before. He looked around, startled when a dog started barking at them, loudly.
( @Cloudy_is_trying_her_best if you want to come in now, you can!)
(Aight here she comes!!)
Sophie was… well, surprised would have been the understatement of the century. When someone–something?–that somehow looked like every imagining of a demon she'd ever seen all at once climbed out of a hole in the ground with two kids on their back, the woman didn't quite know how to react. Cerberus, however, started to raise hell–heh–about it and drag his stunned owner over. "Whoa–Cerberus, no! Sit!" Sophie exclaimed. Her dog obeyed but looked back at her as if to say, What did I do? I just wanna say hi! Sophie looked back up at what she would have assumed was a hallucination had Cerberus not reacted to it as well. "Sorry, um… can I help you?" she asked. What? "Can I help you"? Seriously?
Pitch obviously had no clue how to respond to an unfamiliar woman coming up to them, freezing up on Uktakt's back. He stared wide eyed up at Sophie, his face slowly draining of color. "Uh… sup…?" He greeted awkwardly. He wasn't even entirely sure if his father was okay after the grueling journey.
(Aww–)
Sierra stared at the woman with a blank stare. It didn't matter who she was, the only real thing that mattered was that she wasn't supposed to see a god rocket from the ground with two ten-year-olds clutching onto his back. Sierra dropped from her father's back, landing softly on leafy undergrowth. She turned around in a full circle admiring the landscape.
"Everything's so… green," She mumbled. The girl plucked a leaf from a birch tree next to her and admired its color for a little while before letting it flutter to the ground. "I've never seen anything so lively… Dad, how come we grew up away from all this?" She turned to her father, a sudden feeling of being robbed from a world of wonders rushing over her.
Uktakt collapsed face-forward on the ground, waving one bloodied hand in the air to signal he was fine. He wasn't. But no medical attention was necessary, the wounds were considerably better than any he'd received sparring with his brothers, even if he was disoriented after doing so as he had not fought anyone in a long time. Nunan had let him win, that was different. Uktakt slowly flipped onto his back, and heaved a long sigh. "Sierra, let me rest before you ask questions, please. Pitch, don't talk to the ash'kete. She only wants to eat your soul, it's best if you pay her no mind."
(Uktakt has no idea how to react to the idea that people dye their hair colors like purple for FUN.)
"Oh…" Pitch fell quiet for a minute upon being told that the woman would try and eat his soul, clinging a bit tighter to Uktakt. While his sister was intrigued and amazed by the new environment, he was obviously uncomfortable and uneasy. He didn't know his way around this place, and he'd never really seen anything like it before, and he wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself. "Why do you wanna eat my soul?" He asked Sophie, deciding to disregard his father's instructions.
"Oh my gosh, you're–how far did you dig up from?!" Sophie exclaimed. She stepped forward, wanting to help, but hesitated. "No, I'm human, what gave you the impression that…? Aah, nevermind, that's not really important. First things first, you, uh, might want to disguise yourself a bit. There are some people who might… react poorly," she explained, and hoped that she hadn't offended the demon in front of her.
"I've always been treated well in my current form, I see no reason to change it." Uktakt stood up and towered over the woman, and began to start walking. "To answer your question, trickster, we came from far beneath the Earth's crust, where the Underworld lies. Come along Sierra, this human will show us lodgings and we can be on our way."
Clearly, Uktakt had no idea how things worked in a modern world. He could barely stand up as it was, let alone carry Pitch, so he set the boy down and allowed him to follow. He was too tired to retract his wings, so he let them drag along behind him, wobbling as he walked along to the human, and hopefully wherever the human intended to lead him.
Pitch trotted along at Uktakt's side when he was set down, obviously not too pleased with it. He was still exhausted from having been woken up in the middle of the night, and even though he'd been awake for a bit now, he still couldn't quite shake the sleepiness off. "If she's gonna eat our souls, then why are we following her?" He asked curiously. "I know I'm pretty stupid sometimes, but I've grown pretty attached to my soul."
"I have assessed that she is probably human, or at least mostly. Now do be quiet, I can't think. My head is full of wasps." he said. "She may be a trickster, but she would have eaten your soul by now if she was ash'kete."
"Uh… okay." Pitch hesitated before moving forward to approach the strange woman. "Who are you?" He asked curiously. "You're like Sierra, but taller and prettier." He held up one hand as though attempting to gauge Sophie's height. Considering his comments, it seemed like he'd never really been in contact with a woman before.
Sierra was too intrigued in a flower to react to her brother's comment. Hesitantly she stood and followed her father. Her gaze lingered on the ground and when she looked up her heart stopped. Sierra scrambled backwards with a yelp. "What is that?" She shouted ducking away from the colorful creature and hiding behind her brother. The butterfly fluttered around before losing interest and going away.
(Sorry for sparse responses, I'm in school lol)
"…I guess I can take you to my house?" Sophie offered. "That's about the only lodging I can think to offer, anything else would cost money." In actuality, she wasn't very happy to be commanded around like this, but she wasn't about to show that to what she continued to assume was a demon or something. "My name is Sophia, but you can just call me Sophie if you want to," she answered the boy. "May I ask who you all are?"
"I think it should go without saying. Very well, trickster, show us to your lodgings. My children have had a very long journey and I would hope they'd want to rest after everything." he said, giving her a look of pain and exhaustion. He secretly hoped he'd be able to rest too, but he doubted he should. He didn't yet trust this human, and didn't want to risk his children getting hurt.
"My name's Pitch!" Pitch replied when asked, seeming pretty pleased with himself. "And that's Sierra-" He pointed to Sierra, "-and that's dad!" He pointed to Uktakt. "Is your house far away? How long will it take to get there? I'm supposed to be asleep right now, sooo…"
