Silver nodded, "Like I said, mixed emotions will do that…"
Silver nodded, "Like I said, mixed emotions will do that…"
“I guess,” Aurelius grumbled, “It’s a little frustrating honestly.”
Silver hummed softly, "I can imagine…" he said softly.
“But it’ll have to come with time, right?” Aurelius said, “You definitely make me feel safe and comfortable, if nothing else.”
Silver nodded, "The best medicine besides laughter, is always time…"
“Yeah, perhaps time,” Aurelius sighed.
He brushed a strand of hair from his eye.
Silver hummed watching him for a moment longer, before looking back up at the sky.
Aurelius flopped back down on his back.
“It sure seems like it’s going to be a while before we can truly rest easy though.”
Silver shrugged, "We'll get through it eventually.
Aurelius nodded. “Some of us. People are going to die because of this, but… you know, what can we do besides our part? Speaking of which… I don’t have a part. No one seems interested in recruiting me for any jobs aside from the little odd jobs I was doing in the infirmary.”
Silver hummed softly, "Probably because they're not used to you doing anything else. But if you could choose a job, which one would you be best at?" He asked.
“I’m not sure I’m that good at anything,” Aurelius sighed, “I’m not sure why they would ask me to do anything.”
Silver hummed softly, "there must be something" he said, smiling at him.
“I’m not suited for this line of work. I’m a thinker. I’ve always been more into history and philosophy and the study of life as we know it. Never fighting and collecting intel. Not even healing, because I’m way too much of an empath to even be a healer,” Aurelius explained, “I guess it’s not that I’m not good at anything. Just not anything immediately useful.”
Silver hummed softly, "Think you might be of any use as a strategist?" He asked.
“Septima said I might,” Aurelius replied, pondering the idea, “I don’t know. I’ve never tried anything like that before. It scares me to have people’s lives in my hands like that, but there are other strategists around, so that should keep my impulse in check at least.”
"Creating battle strategies doesn't always mean sacrificing lives. Sometimes it means saving them." He said softly.
“If we’re that lucky, yes,” Aurelius said, “But most likely the case will be sacrificing some to save many, and that sits strangely with me.”
"Your still saving lives. Preserving as many as we can, and giving a chance to those in the future." He said softly.
“I understand that,” Aurelius replied, “I see what I have to do. I just might feel strangely about it, at least for a while.”
Silver hummed softly, smiling at him.
“How did you find your niche?” Aurelius asked, “How do you know?”
Silver hummed, "I've been a healer since I was a small child, learning since before I could talk." He said softly, "I tried being other things, but nothing sat well with me. Sure… I can double as a warrior, but I only learned for self defense."
“Ah, I see,” Aurelius said, “All I know is I grew up around books and fell in love with the world around me without even having to see it for myself. I guess I really do have a place, but definitely more so in peacetime.”
Silver nodded, "I can see that, and while I am good at healing, I'd much rather not to have to use my skills…."
