“Yeah, it’d be nice if no one ever needed healing in the first place, but since that shows no signs of changing, I’m glad there are people like you,” Aurelius replied.
“Yeah, it’d be nice if no one ever needed healing in the first place, but since that shows no signs of changing, I’m glad there are people like you,” Aurelius replied.
Silver smiled, "It's not that I mind healing… it's healing battle wounds that I don't like…."
“I figured as much,” Aurelius said, “I don’t see how anyone could enjoy seeing people get hurt in battle.”
Silver nodded, "Exactly…" he said softly,
“Well, we’re glad that we have people like you to take care of that at least.”
Aurelius stretched and yawned softly.
Silver nodded, curling up on his side to watch the other.
“Although, it does make me glad you’ve got a job where you’re unlikely to be hurt,” Aurelius said.
Silver hummed softly, "actually that might not be the case….." he whispered, hating to disappoint the other. "If anything you've got the safer position."
“Perhaps, but healing is most certainly safer than being one of those that must throw themselves at the enemy,” Aurelius explained, “That said, I do feel guilty for even thinking about sitting back and helping call the shots.”
Silver shrugged, "actually, sometimes more dangerous is being on the front lines with both friend and foe."
“Friends can be a distraction in a fight,” Aurelius said, “I know that.”
"Try being the field medic…. you have to decide who to try and save, and who to leave to die…" he said sarcastically.
Aurelius swallowed hard.
“Yeah. Do you pick your dear friend who’s too far gone, or strangers, who will clearly live to fight another day should you help them? It’s… tough, I’m sure.”
He pondered this for a few moments.
“Not to mention how careful you have to be so no one tries to attack you.”
Silver nodded, "And as one of the few healers who can fight, and fight well, I know I'll be on the front lines…" he sat up and hugged his knees to his chest. "I'm not sure I want to do it either…" he said softly.
Aurelius gritted his teeth. He wanted to protest it all so badly, but there wasn’t really a point.
“Oh… yeah… I guess that’s where they would want you, isn’t it?”
"Yep… " he said with a sigh. "And I'm not crazy about it either…."
“I don’t blame you…”
Aurelius crosses his arms, deep in thought.
“Say, what if each healer had a bodyguard on the field?”
Silver hummed softly, "Sometimes they do, but I know I wont, since I can already defend myself…."
“But if you’re hurt, they’re short a healer. Screw it if you do know how to fight,” Aurelius grumbled.
"Not if I'm working with my brother…" he said softly, "Both of us are fighters and healers, we work in close proximity, then if one gets hurt the other can patch the injured one up…" he sighed, "I've fought in situations similarly before…."
“Doesn’t change how unsettling it feels,” Aurelius sighed, “I want to see you through in one piece.”
Silver hummed softly, "ME too…" he said, "Along with everyone else…"
“I wish…” Aurelius muttered, “At this point, I’m not even sure how Septima’s doing. Gods, I’m still scared for her. And she’s not even one of the ones fighting the big fight.”
Silver sighed softly, "I'm sure she'll be okay…."
“Yeah, I guess you have to keep telling me that. Sorry. I can’t say it’s an irrational worry though,” Aurelius said.
